The last two decades signified the shift in the period of literary development. The emergence of various literary works that developed in the internet era succeeded in breaking the order of conventional literary publications which originally needed a layered process to be able to reach the readers. The rapid development of cyber literature produced many new literary works. Even though its quality is still being debated, it cannot eliminate its entity as a literary work and its role as a cultural product that must be preserved. That becomes a special aspect in this study, which aims to give consideration regarding preservation of cyber literary works in the form of digital curation of literature. This paper represents an image of the writer’s interweaving biography and bibliography. Explaining such an aspect required analytic and comparative ap- proaches to the material. This paper covers writer’s interviews, auto-poetic notes, letters, translations, insight into the bibliography and official biography, and also his literary work. As part of translation, scientific and literary work, Paris and French culture are a kind of prism through which the life of Milorad Pavić should be perceived. The writer felt close to the French language from his childhood, which affected the shaping of his creative sensibility – writing his first literary works and translating. Later on, knowing French language and culture well marked the start of his academic career.

Literary work is a means for authors to offer various ideologies to their readers. Through literature, the author can influence the views of life and or ideology of the reader. From the inter-group conflict that was built into the structure of literary works, the author can fight for the ideology he adheres to. This short article intends to uncover the ideological struggle in Pramoedya Ananta Toer's novel Midah Simanis Bergigi Emas using the analysis of Gramsci's hegemony. The analysis shows that the Midah Simanis Bergigi Emas novel offers three ideologies namely the ideology of feudalism (which controls), the primitive ideology of coastal culture (which is mastered), and the ideology of socialist realism (which is championed). Because in the novel the two contrasting cultures are seen as bad culture, the culture of socialist realism is the most ideal.

Abstract The term monumentum is used in Latin literature to describe a range of monuments across media, including temples, literary works, statues, and inscriptions. This article surveys the variety of monumenta in Livy’s Ab urbe condita, which range from the text itself to victory inscriptions and bronze sculptures meant to commemorate military as well as political achievements. The borders between historiography and physical artefacts are often blurred by Livy through inscriptional intermediality, a phenomenon defined as the mixing of visual and textual media. By outlining how Livy achieves this combination, and demonstrating how the specific ratio of literary, linguistic, and topographical features in his ekphrases generate unique impressions of real-world monuments, this chapter re-reads Livy’s history from the perspective of intermedial theory. This process not only advances our understanding of the Ab urbe condita as a literary work, but also thrusts individual aspects of Livy’s narrative technique – including visuality and unique formulae such as the introductory formula tabula … cum indice hoc posita est (Livy 41.28.8) – into the spotlight.

AbstractIn this paper I follow the social life of the Tibetan books belonging to the Younghusband-Waddell collection. I show how books as literary artefacts can transform from ritual objects into loot, into commodities and into academic treasures and how books can have agency over people, creating networks and shaping identities. Exploring connections between books and people, I look at colonial collecting, Orientalist scholarship and imperial visions from an unusual perspective in which the social life and cultural biography of people and things intertwine and mutually define each other. By following the trajectory of these literary artefacts, I show how their traces left in letters, minutes and acquisition documents give insight into the functioning of academic institutions and their relationship to imperial governing structures and individual aspirations. In particular, I outline the lives of a group of scholars who were involved with this collection in different capacities and whose deeds are unevenly known. This adds a new perspective to the study of this period, which has so far been largely focused on the deeds of key individuals and the political and military setting in which they operated. Finally, I show how the books of this collection have continued to exercise their attraction and moral pressure on twenty-first-century scholars, both Tibetan and international, linking them through digital technology and cyberspace.

Literary works are closely related to religisiutas, because of that, various works appearing showing the religiosity of society, one ofwhich is the Javanese. Modern Indonesian literary works that illustrate this are thecollection of short stories from Umi Kalsum by Djamil Suherman, the lyrical prosePengakuan Pariyem by Linus Suryadi AG, and the novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk byAhmad Tohari. Each of these works represents the diversity of Javanese society. Thecollection of short stories from Umi Kalsum shows the religious side of the communitycalled the santri who are so obedient in carrying out their worship. The lyrical proseof Pariyem's confession provides information on how a babu is so resigned to seeinglife, but in her soul holds the wisdom of Kejawen. Meanwhile, Ronggeng Dukuh Parukdescribes the Javanese people who worship the spirits of their ancestors. Even thoughthey have different religions, they basically want harmony. The Javanesepeople of the Gunung Kidul area live in harmony if they are always nrimo and see lifeas it is according to its Javanese nature. The Dukuh Paruk community attainsharmony that originates from the worship of the spirit of Ki Secamenggala.
