The environmental aspects of poultry production have recently become increasingly political. This applies not only to the cultivation of poultry, but also to the processing and marketing of meat products. Poultry farming is associated with signifi cant environmental risks. Pollution from intensive animal husbandry is not so serious. Poultry farms consume a lot of water, especially when slaughtering poultry, and energy, especially when cooling and further processing meat. An important reserve for reducing the cost of meat entering the consumer market is the creation of an effective poultry farming system. If reducing water consumption by poultry farms becomes one of the priorities of environmental policy, the number of birds may increase, and meat prices may become cheaper. At the same time, when using the purifi ed and recycled water of the slaughterhouse of poultry farms for the technological needs of the slaughterhouse, for example, for washing gutted carcasses outside and inside (which is usually produced by tap water), the quality indicators of meat as a whole signifi cantly increase. Key words: recycling, poultry meat, combined electro-photochemical plant.

Poultry farming is one of the most promising areas of production not only in Ukraine but also in the world. This is due to the high demand for protein products and increased consumption. Ukraine does not use enough of its export potential in the agrarian sector. It is precisely these circumstances lead to choosing as the basis for the research the mentioned direction of production by domestic producers. The tendencies of the Ukrainian poultry enterprises development and features of the chicken market are generalized, namely the volume of cultivation and sale on the slaughter of poultry by Ukrainian producers, the cost price and profitability of poultry meat production have been analyzed; the specific features of the products range are defined in all competitor companies and products offered for export. The competitiveness of domestic poultry production in comparison with domestic and foreign analogues has been investigated. For the study the following enterprises as the LLS “Ptahokompleks” Gubin, TM “Pan Kurchak”, slaughter-house “Piorkowscy” and JSC “Superdrop” were taken. It is established that domestic products are competitive both in terms of price and taste properties. The dynamics of export and import of poultry meat in Ukraine and abroad is analyzed. Significant growth of poultry meat export as compared to previous periods has been revealed, which is explained by obtaining permit documents and implementation of measures by domestic producers to bring poultry products closer to international standards. The prospects for the development of the investigated production direction are designed.

This paper presents the results of studies of regional specialization and territorial concentration in agriculture. The poultry meat branch was chosen as the object of research. This is one of the most dynamically developing sectors of agriculture in Russia. Modified localization coefficients were used as a method for detecting the territorial concentration of the sector. The analysis showed that more than half of the output of poultry meat products was concentrated in the territory of 12 regions of Russia. The largest localization of poultry farming is in the center of the European part of the country, near large cities. The level of territorial concentration of the poultry meat sector increased significantly over the period of 2004–2017. The localization coefficients of the regions that specialize in poultry meat production have more than doubled. There is an increase in “polarity” in the specialization of regions. Some regions continue to increase the production of poultry meat, the level of regional specialization is growing. In other regions, poultry production is declining. Taking the poultry meat sector as a case study, it has been shown that the processes of regional specialization and territorial localization are increasing in Russian agriculture.

Currently, the modern poultry farms are located in regions with different climatic conditions. Thus, the component of the electric power being the base for combined heating and ventilating systems, lighting, and local heating of poultry farms, is great in power engineering on the territory of the Russian Federation. The analysis of energy costs of poultry farms showed that of the estimated options for reducing the cost of electricity for poultry farms, one of the most effective can be an alternative source such as the generation of own electricity. Naturally, for biological production with a continuous technological cycle (poultry farming, for example), seems to be replace about 45-55 % of the needs of the factory and serve as a reserve for the rest, but not cover all 100 % of needs.

Rooftop farming is a practical solution of smart urban agriculture to furnish diverse socio-environmental benefits and short food supply chains, especially in densely populated cities. This study aims to raise urban food security with less use of public water and energy in food production, through utilizing green water and energy for sustainable management. A system dynamics (SD) model framed across the nexus of climate, water, energy and food (WEF) sectors is developed for a rooftop farm in Taipei City of Taiwan. The urban WEF Nexus is structured to address how local weather affects water and energy utilization to grow vegetables. The SD results showed that the annual yields of sweet potato leaves achieved 9.3 kg/m2, at the cost of 3.8 ton/m2 of harvested rainwater and 2.1 ton/m2 of tap water together with 2.1 kwh/m2 of solar photovoltaic power and 0.4 kwh/m2 of public electricity. This study not only demonstrates that green resources show great potential to make a significant reduction in consuming urban irrigation resources for rooftop farming, but contributes to urban planning through a sustainable in situ WEF Nexus mechanism at a city scale. The WEF Nexus can manifest the rooftop farming promotion as cogent development to facilitate urban sustainability.

The coccidiosis is the most remarkable widespread parasitic poultry disease. Due to its clinical or subclinical course which is even more significant, high economical losses are evident. The health and the economical implications of coccidiosis are emphasized in intensive poultry farming. In this paper investigation was performed on the most frequent deviations in application of preventive means against the coccidiosis. The data were analyzed during the period from the year 2005 to 2010. In order to locate possible factors that could contribute to the decreased prophylactic effects of anticoccidials, the flocks of broiler chickens, laying hens and parents were clinically examined and critical steps in farming technology were evaluated in detail. The type of equipment and its performance, and the duration of empty resting period between flocks were noted as the predominant technical determinants. Also some oversights were found in the design of programs for the control of coccidiosis, including the previously used coccidiostats and their efficacy in chicken flocks, the availability of drugs on market and the important elements of epizootiology of the disease. By permanent hygiene practice on poultry farms the infectious pressure may decrease. Anticoccidial drugs are mostly applied and are considered very efficient. However, since coccidia can acquire resistance to antibiotics and residual coccidiostats in consumer meat are found occasionally, their prophylactic use may be limited. The immunoprophylaxis is the most promising method so far. The use of anticoccidial vaccines in poultry stimulates its own immunological capacities and moreover, it enables the production of safe food and products. In recent years there is an increasing interest for the immunoprophylaxis in our country. In our region, the vaccination against coccidiosis is performed in about 90% of parent flocks and in 10 to 20% of commercial layers. However, development of the immune response against coccidia is complex and immune suppression can occur by different factors such as stress inducing conditions, bacterial (salmonella) and viral (Reo, IBDV, MDV, CAV) infections, aflatoxicosis and other. The noted deviations in preventive measures applied to combat coccidiosis were clearly defined. The obligative introduction of HACCP in intensive poultry production implicate planned solutions for the control of coccidiosis.
