Study of Opinions Related to the Use of Bio- Enabled Attendance System for Improving Punctuality Among Teachers

The study aims to assess the extent of use and adequacy of using the bio-enabled attendance system in educational institutions to develop punctuality among teachers. A fingerprint-based attendance monitoring system was used for this purpose. The sample comprises 70 teachers from an institution where a bio-enabled attendance machine was being used. The investigators collected teachers’ opinions towards using a bio-enabled attendance system for improving their punctuality with the help of a self-prepared questionnaire. The findings reveal that there is a significant difference in the teachers’ opinions towards the use of a bio-enabled attendance system with regards to their residential background and medium of teaching. There is no significant difference in the opinion of the teachers towards the use of a bio-enabled attendance system concerning their gender, computer training and teaching subjects. The results also show that the bio-enabled attendance system contributes towards improving the punctuality of teachers as it is effective, accurate, time-saving and checks the proxy system for marking the attendance.

Mobile phones have become so ubiquitous that they turned into an important part of our life. According to Parsons, mobile subscriptions exceed 6 billion subscriptions globally. Similarly, Ipsos and Verizon (as cited in Tan & El-Bendary) found out that adopting mobile phones with smart technologies has increased fast which also coincided with a more utilization of their Internet capabilities. With the abundance of knowledge the Internet provides, mobile phones become an invaluable pathway for that knowledge. The fact that these gadgets are well-liked by students make them one of the best tools to be adopted by educational institutions. This study will investigate the actual academic use of mobile phones among students and teachers, their attitudes toward using them as learning or teaching tools, and if there is a significant difference in attitudes of the participants toward using mobile as learning or teaching tools based on the job criteria (Student vs. Faculty Member).

Current studies conducted by JICA, AMPRI and IFC-World Bank, reported that large commercial buildings in Indonesia are not energy and water efficient. One of the cause is the lack of regulation. Meanwhile, effective regulations to reduce energy and water consumption are the concern mostly in a new building to obtain a building permit. This strategy is understandable as retrofitting existing buildings are often more difficult to be implemented, and enforcement is still a major issue in Indonesia. Local governments are currently working on streamlining building permit process as well as developing an online monitoring system for existing buildings. By applying a Building Energy Management System (BEMS) enables to reduce energy consumption up to 15%. An energy monitoring system was designed and installed through this research for Department of Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics (DNEEP) building, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada. It is a 20 years old two-story building used for educational activities, which consist of classrooms, laboratories, offices and storage spaces. An audit energy was done recently in 2015 where an energy consumption of 261.299,636 kWh/year.m2 was reported. In the existing condition, a power meter is inaccessible and therefore, the only feedback of occupancy behavior in the energy consumption is through the electricity bill. The previous study has shown that building occupants would behave more efficiently if the amount of energy used is notified, and the amount of energy savings are recorded. However, these energy monitoring systems are considered expensive and uniquely tailored for every building. This research aims to design and install a cost effective BEMS based on occupant’s satisfactory assessment of the lighting, acoustics, and air conditioning quality. The data will be used as a decision supporting system (DSS) by building management through the use of a GUI. The design of the interface was based on a survey result from the prospective users. Installed energy monitoring system uses a current sensor with an accuracy of 98% and a precision of 0.04 A while the voltage sensor with an accuracy of 98% and a precision of 0.58 V. The performance testing shows that the number of web clients influences delay of data transmission. The result of the survey shows that GUI is categorized as fair in design without a significant difference between the perceptions of users with and without survey supervision.

For the success of educational institutions (herein referred as an organisation), teachers’ commitment has, in particular, been recognised as an effectual route. As the educational system is the most influential spot that leads to the progress of society, it requires committed teachers who are not mere tools, but their strategic partners. This research study highlights the state of commitment of university teachers under various dimensions in India and explore whether there is any significant difference between selected demographics and the perception of teachers over their organisational commitment issues. The data were collected from full-time teachers working in selected universities of India. This study reveals that the majority of teachers possess continuance commitment, as they weigh the costs and risks associated with leaving the university and when given better alternatives, they may leave their institutions. Among the demographic variables, it was only the level of education that was found to be significantly affecting the commitment of university teachers. This study reveals that the teachers and the universities are engaged in give and take relationship. When teachers perceive high organisational engagement, they respond back with a greater commitment, perceiving them as an integral part of the organisation. They are more motivated and dedicated towards meeting and achieving organisational goals. Moreover, universities depend on committed teachers to create and sustain a competitive advantage and achieve superior performance.

This paper reports on the findings from a quantitative research study into the use of a software tool that was built to support a part-complete solution method (PCSM) for the learning of computer programming. The use of part-complete solutions to programming problems is one of the methods that can be used to reduce the cognitive load that students experience during their learning. The tool that was built is a code restructuring tool known as CORT. An inquiry into its effect on student learning outcomes took place over a period of 14 weeks at an Australian university. Two student groups participated in an introductory programming unit, one of which utilized the CORT system whilst the other acted as a control group. No significant difference were found in the relative achievement of students in the CORT and non-CORT groups in tests of programming achievement. However the results showed significant advantages for the CORT students in terms of time saving and levels of tutor help required. Differences also emerged in levels of achievement between certain sub-groups, these being age, computer literacy and previous programming experience.

This study is aimed to investigate the teachers’ practices regarding classroom conflict management at Federal Government Educational Institutions (Cants/Garrisons) – FGEI’s (C/G). This was quantitative research that has been conducted under the Positivist paradigm. All the Elementary School teachers at FGEI’s (C/G) were the population for this study. However, 150 male and 150 female teachers have been selected conveniently. The data were collected by using the survey method. The instrument was developed by the researchers for this study. The survey questionnaire was a 5 point Likert rating scale ranging from Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree. There were 30 items on this scale. Descriptive statistics (frequency and percentage) have been used to analyze the data regarding the demographic detail whereas the Mann Whitney U test has been applied to the data so to find out the difference among the teachers’ practices regarding classroom conflicts based on their gender. It is concluded that the teachers deal with “Interpersonal Conflicts” and “Organizational Conflict” appropriately. As far as it is concerned with the teachers’ practices regarding “Conflict Management”, they deal with the conflicts properly for resolving and managing them. However, it is revealed that the teachers remain failed to observe the others’ self-respect while posing their stance. They also drag the debates instead of resolving the conflicts and also become autocratic while stating their stance regarding the conflict. On the other hand, there is a significant difference found between male and female teachers’ practices regarding classroom conflict management.

In this study, instructors’ computer self-efficacy perceptions are examined in terms of variables such as age, gender, academic status, teaching experience, computer literacy and computer skills. The study is a descriptive one in which relational scanning method has been utilized. The study has been carried out within the framework of the data obtained from 172 police instructors who work in 28 Police Vocational Schools of Higher Education across the country. The data were collected by using a survey and “The Computer Self-efficacy Perception Scale”. A significant difference has been found between the self-efficacy perceptions of the instructors and their computer skills and computer training that they received. In addition to this, it has been seen that there was not any significant difference between self-efficacy perceptions of instructors and age, gender, position status, teaching experience and computer literacy. This is the first study carried out for determining the self-efficacy perceptions of police instructors. The article is devoted to strengthening the role and importance of online learning and digital competence of teachers and students in the context of globalization and accelerating scientific and technological progress. A comparative analysis of the development of ICT, relevant electronic devices and the introduction of open online courses in the world is done. The main difficulties, shortcomings and achievements in the process of accelerating the dynamics and scale of application of online and distance learning during the lockdown period caused by the coronavirus pandemic are defined. The examples of Ukraine and the European Union show a significant difference between the countries of the world in terms of the development of material and technical base of educational institutions, digital infrastructure, access to high-quality and high-speed Internet, readiness of teachers and students to study in new conditions. There is a significant gap between global scientific and technological development and digital competence of citizens. Based on the use of historical, logical, comparative methods, principles and laws of dialectics argues the need for a deeper and more systematic theoretical understanding of current trends in ICT, rapid improvement of digital competence, especially the teaching staff. The importance of introducing in-depth, systematic and systematic research in Ukraine to assess the available technical resources, quality and prospects of digital infrastructure, the level of digital competence of citizens, the dynamics of online training courses, the impact of the social environment on education. The subject of analysis and strategic decision-making in the field of national digital policy should be relevant social, political, economic and technological problems in the country, improving the legal framework, technical re-equipment of educational institutions of all levels, increasing motivation, especially teaching staff for self-improvement and digital competence.

New possibilities for a teacher as well as a student occur when modern informative technologies are used during the lessons. This phenomenon has become logical and inevitable. Physics, Chemistry and Biology are taught as separate subjects at our school as it is in all educational institutions, but there is no doubt that they have much in common: conception, methodological principles, the way the practical problems are solved. That is why we look forward for a deeper content integration of the subjects of natural sciences. Aim of the project: To share personal experience in the process of education while teaching Natural sciences, to link the content of the subjects with the usage of technology and problems of Healthy living. In the course of teaching natural sciences and integrating Healthy living into them we faced the problem of the lack of teaching material about healthy living. This fact inspired us to diversify the lessons adding more topics on healthy living. In order to achieve the result it was settled to create an attractive teaching computer training appliance for the students and teachers as a means to help to prepare for the lessons, self-education, additional work so as it would be possible to improve students’ knowledge in learning healthy living. Besides, the community members are going to be informed and motivated more lively to take care of health and protect the environment, to develop the ability to live healthy and share personal experience about the process of integration using informative technologies. It stimulated us to create electronic HEALTHY LIVING training appliance as a help to teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Human beings are social creatures by nature and one of their most important characteristics is the multifaceted communication they establish with their environment. There are numerous ways of establishing communication. However, the most preferred manner has always been speech. For the speaking skill to be used effectively, the individual should have self-confidence. Educational institutions are the places where the foundations of self-confidence are laid. In educational institutions where self-confidence is taught, it is fundamental that the educators have self-confidence themselves. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the self-efficacy levels of classroom teacher candidates, who will be teaching in primary schools where the basic characteristics of the speaking skill are taught, display any differences in terms of different variables. The study group of the study consists of students receiving education at the Department of Primary School Teaching, Faculty of Education in a state university in the 2016-2017 academic year. The study group consists of 225 students who were selected through the typical case sampling method, which is one of the purposeful sampling types. With the purpose of collecting data, the ‘Speaking Self-Efficacy Scale (SSES)’ developed by Aydın (2013) consisting of four sub-dimensions with a Cronbach Alpha value of 0.95 was used. SPSS software program (Version 22) was used in the analysis of numeric data. The data was analyzed with the Independent Sample t-test, One Way ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis tests. According to the results of the study, a significant difference has been determined in the speaking process and listener factor sub-dimensions of the students in favor of the male students. Regarding the grade levels, it was concluded that the upper grade levels regarded themselves as more self-sufficient in the skill of speaking in all of the sub-dimensions.
