This paper is an attempt to examine the way male and female participants perform gender in 03 novels, Everything Good Will Come (2006), Swallow (2010) and A Bit of Difference (2013), by a contemporary Nigerian writer called Sefi Atta. The study draws on Gender Performative Theory as developed by the feminist Butler (1990/1999). This theory considers gender identities as being socially constructed. The study highlights the multiple ways in which male and female participants perform gender according to established social norms in the selected novels. Regarding the existing social norms in Nigeria, the findings by scholars like Fakeye, George and Owoyemi (2012), Mejiuni and Awolowo (2006), Bourey et al (2012), Gbadebo, Kehinde and Adedeji (2012), Okunola and Ojo (2012) exude that men are traditionally portrayed as career people, assertive, powerful and active, independent and violent while women are stereotypically depicted as housewives, submissive, powerless and passive, dependent and non-violent (or victims). Based on the above dichotomies between men and women, the study unveils the ideology that underpins gender performances in the novels.

Study aims to test for the hypothesized dimensional structure of a revision and extension of the Orientation and Motivation Inventory (OMI) and to check for sex differences. The 12-scale inventory was administered to 307 high school and college men, and to 184 college women. The intercorrelations among the half scale scores for the men and for the women were separately factor analyzed and rotated. For men, 10 of the factors, and for women, 11 of the factors hypothesized were confirmed. Five second-order dimensions were identified in both men and women. The scores were next applied in discriminant function analyses to differentiate male and female subjects allocated to one of Holland's six personality types. The results provide some support for the validity of the motivational scales.

During the bicycle “craze” of the 1890s and early 1900s, men and women across Western Europe and North America embraced this novel form of recreation and modern mode of transportation. Undoubtedly, the invention of the “safety” bicycle in 1885 aided women’s enjoyment of the machine, yet in many respects cycling remained an androcentric mode of recreation. This is most evident when examining the paternal structure of bicycle clubs. In the existing literature on cycling, however, little attention is paid to gender dynamics within clubs, especially in the context of smaller towns and rural areas. Using the towns of Tillsonburg and Ingersoll in southwestern Ontario’s Oxford County as a case study, this article examines how cycling clubs in these communities were sites of both change and resistance to the prevailing gender norms of the time. Once membership was opened to women, club activities became more heterosocial and less focused on cultivating virulent masculinity, but women were never fully accepted as full-fledged members.

The purpose of this case study was to explore how teachers and students use iPads in class, the obstacles and barriers to teacher and student iPad use, and the relationship between types and frequency of use, in one high school in Southern Oregon. The study consisted of classroom observations and follow-up interviews with nine teachers with iPad carts over a three week period. Qualitative data was emphasized, with some quantitative data to support it. Overall, iPad use was low, even though access to iPads was high. When iPads were used, teachers used iPads mostly for communication and delivering instruction, and students used iPads mostly for reading, writing, and research. Observational data and interview data results on the types of use were consistent, indicating that teachers are well aware of how they use iPads in their classrooms.

An introvert is said to be a kind of student who is quiet and doesn’t open easily. On the contrary, when a student is friendly, talkative and quickly makes friends, the student’s form of personality is extroverted. This study aimed to know the difference between the self-confidence of introvert students and extrovert students. Introverts and extroverts pick their preferences from different priorities. For them to enhance their confidence students should establish a strong belief for their selves. The development of self-confidence must be essential and allows students to demonstrate their expertise and talents. The study was a quantitative design that makes use of the research questionnaire. The researcher surveyed the Senior High School with a total of two hundred thirty-five respondents who are requested to answer the questionnaire. Quantitative data were processed using chi-square. The study has shown the students' self-confidence in terms of education, talents, socialization, and achievements. It shows that introvert students have a higher frequency than the extrovert students. Results also show that self-confidence implies that the extrovert respondents are not enough in expressing their personality. They need to re-build their personality types to gain some confidence. It can be inferred that there is no significant difference between the self-confidence of the introvert students and extrovert students.

This study is about the provisions of the Qur’ān on inheritance that regulates the rights of the heirs with justice, especially towards women who did not have such right before the advent of Islam. Currently, the people of Malay Sambas distribute inheritance against the provisions of the Qur’ān which allots double shares to the male except in case of the parents. In the Sambas Malay community, men and women inherit equal shares contrary to the provisions in the Qur’ān as stated in the verse of al-Nisā’ 4: 11, 12, and 176. This research is a field research with a phenomenological method by looking at gender equality and feminism in the distribution of inheritance among the Malay Sambas community. The focus of this research is guided by the Islamic law position on the Malay Sambas equal distribution system of inheritance between men and women. This research finds that the Malay Sambas system of inheritance is contrary to the Shariah because there is still equal distribution of inheritance to male and female beneficiaries.
