Economic diversification has been the only solution to Nigeria’s economic challenges with the country in control of diversely untapped natural and human resources. This work has contextually x-rayed some much more considered theoretical paths of economic development through economic diversification and placed the blame for Nigeria’s economic backwardness on political will and lack of commitment to national course of political leaders. Since the diverse policy process of the government had yielded little or no sustainable results, even when the emphasis is to utilize the potentials in non-oil sectors to benefit ever-increasing population. Nigeria is relatively diversified but the positive impact of real diversification through surplus economic gains has not been achieved. A holistic approach to development was adopted in the theoretical framework used in this work that positively affects state, people and their relationship nationally and internationally. The thrust of the theory encourages free trade policy, efficient competition and democratic features to liberalize productivity through various guided legislation in line with Globalized Quality Standard. The research design was descriptive of the observed trend in the economy. It also analyses similar scholarly data collected for accuracy in exposing greatly a multi-sectoral approach in planning, dealing with interdependence using input-output matrix with reference to pre-independence and post-independence era of the national economy. This study looked at the positive intentions of some interventionist programmes and policies of the Government which were short-lived. Few years’ aggregate contribution and sectoral real GDP rate were stated. Recommendations were effectively based on keen interest in multi-sectoral diversification of an economy being the sub-structure that determines the effectiveness of super-structure.

Economic diversification into agriculture and extractive industry in Nigeria has been a fascinating and crucial economic issue that deserves consideration especially as the country is shifting from mono-economy (caused by oil boom) to other viable economic sectors. The global economic meltdown and depression have stimulated countries to look into other sectors of the economy in order to enhance their national development. Hence, this study tries to examine the contribution of agriculture and extractive industry to the Nigeria’s real gross domestic product (RGDP). The study makes use of time series data gathered from CBN Statistical Bulletin ranging from 1981-2017 and employs Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method as the statistical tool with the aid of e-views version 9. The findings reveal that agriculture has a robust and noteworthy positive impact on RGDP while the solid mineral equally has a substantial positive influence on RGDP. However, crude petroleum (proxy for crude petroleum & natural gas) has a positive inconsequential effect on RGDP. This brings the study to a conclusion that investment in agriculture and solid minerals is highly imperative at the moment. Therefore, the study has suggested that economic diversification should be focused more on agriculture and solid mineral extraction. In addition, the government should try to manage the crude petroleum and natural gas exploration so as to prevent fund repatriation and transfer to other countries due to borrowed technology.

The State Civil Apparatus (ASN), which is the State Apparatus that organizes the government in carrying out national development, is the backbone of the government. The  smooth running of government and the implementation of national development depends on the perfection of the state apparatus both at the central and regional levels. In order to achieve the national goals as stated above, it is necessary to have a State Civil Apparatus who is full ofwillingness and obedience to Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the State and the Government and is united, has good mentality, is authoritative, strong, efficient, clean, of high quality and aware of their responsibilities as elements of the State Apparatus, State servants and public servants. To realize the perfect State Civil Apparatus as intended above, the Civil Apparatus needs to be fostered as well as possible. One form of fostering the State Civil Apparatus is Mutation as an incarnation or embodiment of organizational dynamics which is used as a way to achieve organizational goals. In the implementation of mutations, it must be based on an objective assessment considering that the transfer system is intended to provide opportunities for State Civil Apparatus to develop their potential. The work motivation of the State Civil Apparatus can also decrease if the superiors do not pay attention to the interests of their subordinates. This will reduce the work motivation of both the State Civil Apparatus. Indicators of declining morale include: low productivity, high employee absenteeism, and others. Thus, it will certainly affect the work motivation of employees in an organization. Mutation will have a positive impact on employees, such as increasing work morale. However, if the mutation is carried out without paying close attention and without being based on convincing arguments, the mutation will have a negative impact on the employee and the organization.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has often been addressed as a success case in the GCC region due to its implemented policies that spurred growth and development with a market-friendly approach. This study aims to investigate the relationship between economic diversification and private sector development. For this, we employed an ARDL con-integration method to check the long run as well as short run relationship between variables. We found that the domestic credit to private sector has a positive relationship with diversification index. Also, domestic credit to private sector (DCPS) percentage of GDP has both short and long run relationship with economic diversification index. The results indicate that the domestic credit to private sector will promote the economic diversification in both the short and long runs. Moreover, the government infrastructure will also promote economic diversification in the long run but not in the short run. The trade openness has a negative impact on economic diversification in the long run, but it has a positive impact in the short run.

In order for humans could reach the so-called falah (goodness), human behavior needs to be colored with the spirit and norms of Islamic economics reflected in its values. The principles and values of Islamic economics are considerably two inseparable things. The implementation of economic principles without being colored with values or values without being based on principles could keep people far away from their purpose, namely falah. The implementation of values not based on principles will tend to bring with it the normative economics, which would cause it trapped into injustice. While the implementation of values on the Islamic economic development is based on the five universal values, namely akidah (belief), 'adl (justice), nubuwwah (prophetic), khilafah (the government), and ma'ad (results). The five principles are used as the basis for building theories of Islamic economics. But strong and adequate theories not applied into a system will make the Islamic economics just as the study of science without giving positive impact on the economic life. Therefore, based on the five universal values, the three derivative principles should be built into the characteristics and the forerunner of the Islamic economic system. The Islamic economic system makes sure that there are no economic transactions that are contrary to the Shari'a. But business performance depends on the man behind the gun. For that reason, the economic actors within this framework could be held by non-Muslims. The Islamic economics could only be developed if the mindset and behavior of Muslims are already itqan (diligent) and ihsan (professional). It "may be" one of the secrets of the Prophet's statement, saying "Truly I was sent to perfect good character". Because good character could be an indicator of knowing good or bad behavior in determining both the success and the failure of business itself.

Based on the panel data of 277 cities between 2003 and 2017 and a unique city-level dataset of green patent applications, this study employs the difference-in-differences (DID) method to evaluate the effect of China’s carbon emission trading scheme (ETS) pilots on urban green innovation. The findings indicate that China’s ETS pilots have a positive impact on urban green innovation, and that impact is more significant for municipalities than for prefecture-level cities. Furthermore, the impact on different categories of urban green innovation is heterogeneous. More specifically, China’s ETS pilots have significantly spurred urban green innovation that is closely related to energy conservation and emission reduction, including alternative energy production, transportation, energy conservation and so forth. Moreover, the facilitating effect of China’s ETS pilots on urban green innovation suffers from a lagging effect, which began to show a significant positive effect in 2016. Overall, this paper identifies the effect of China’s ETS pilots on urban green innovation, and suggests that the government should consider the heterogeneity of urban green innovation when designing national ETS policies.
