In the context of rising unemployment of college-level workforce while the need for business exists, the development of a set of competency criteria is needed to help students have a better preparation in order to meet the needs of employers in the future. This research aimed to meet the requirements. The research used data from two surveys, including 30 employers and 300 students from 5 universities. The analysis methods were the descriptive statistics and the T-test, conducted on the Stata 12 software. As a result, the study selected 15 most important competencies in 30 initial aggregated ones. Analyzing the set of competency criteria, the results showed that there was a significant difference in perceptions about the importance of criteria between students and employers. While employers considered the skill and attitude criteria to be more important, the students punctuated the criteria of knowledge. In addition, the findings showed that students had not yet met what the business needed in all 15 criteria at the current time.

AbstractThis study aims to assess the awareness and opinions of employees and children living in foster care homes about the Romanian Clean Air Legislation. The assessment was performed six months after the implementation of the antitobacco legislation (Romanian Law no.15/2016), in three Romanian counties (Alba, Mures, and Covasna) including 178 employees and 368 children from 59 foster care homes. Data were collected using an anonymous paper and pencil questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and chi-square test were used for data analysis (significant difference if p < 0.05). Almost one third of the employees and children were smokers from the forest care homes. Nearly, all the employees and most of the children were aware of the legislation, most of them have also noticed some kind of measures taken by foster care homes against smoking. As claimed by smokers, almost two-thirds of them smoked like they used to do before the legislation, more than a quarter stated that they decreased the number of daily smoked cigarettes and nearly a quarter intended to quit smoking in the future. A half year after the implementation of the legislation most of the employees and children living in foster care homes admitted that they knew about the change and it affected their smoking habits. Most of them have also observed some kind of measures taken against smoking. Despite these measures there were still smokers in the foster care homes, so there would be a need for more campaigns against smoking in the future.

Current authentication processes overwhelmingly rely on audiovisual data, comprising images, text or audio. However, the use of olfactory data (scents) has remained unexploited in the authentication process, notwithstanding their verified potential to act as cues for information recall. Accordingly, in this paper, a new authentication process is proposed in which olfactory media are used as cues in the login phase. To this end, PassSmell , a proof of concept authentication application, is developed in which words and olfactory media act as passwords and olfactory passwords, respectively. In order to evaluate the potential of PassSmell, two different versions were developed, namely one which was olfactory-enhanced and another which did not employ olfactory media. Forty-two participants were invited to take part in the experiment, evenly split into a control and experimental group. For assessment purposes, we recorded the time taken to logon as well as the number of failed/successful login attempts; we also asked users to complete a Quality of Experience (QoE) questionnaire. In terms of time taken, a significant difference was found between the experimental and the control groups, as determined by an independent sample t-test. Similar results were found with respect to average scores and the number of successful attempts. Regarding user QoE, having olfactory media with words influenced the users positively, emphasizing the potential of using this kind of authentication application in the future.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the Iranian EFL teachers’ awareness of classroom observation criteria. To this end, 123 Iranian EFL teachers at several language institutes and universities participated in this study. The participants were selected through the convenience sampling method. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire for evaluating the criteria used for classroom observation. The reliability of the questionnaire was calculated through Cronbach Alpha. The data were collected in person and through email; they were analyzed through descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, and the analysis of variance (ANOVA). The descriptive statistics indicated that an increase in teaching experience results in an increase in teachers’ awareness of the classroom observation criteria. The independent samples t-test indicated that there was not a significant difference between gender and the teachers’ awareness of classroom observation criteria. The results obtained from the ANOVA test indicated that there was no difference statistically in teachers’ awareness of classroom observation criteria between the fields of study, and level of education. The result of ANOVA test showed that age had a significant impact on teachers’ awareness of observation criteria. The findings of this study showed that a high percentage of Iranian EFL teachers are aware of the classroom observation criteria.

Insecurity, low interest, high costs and lack of time were the main hindrances to participation in ecotourism. It was concluded that most (75%) of the respondents had a favourable disposition towards ecotourism in the study area. Significant difference (t= -4.162, p=0.000) existed in perception of ecotourism in the two universities. Intensification of ecotourism awareness, funding of ecotourism, inclusion of ecotourism in higher education curricula, ecotourism advocacy and programmes that will encourage students’ participation in ecotourism activities are recommended.
