Assessment and Comparison of Speed and Agility between College level Male attackers and Liberos in Volleyball

The aim of this study was to assess and compare speed and agility among attackers and liberos of volleyball game. Fifteen (n=15) attackers and liberos (n=15) were selected randomly with age ranging between 18-25 years. The subjects who participated in St. Joseph’s inter collegiate tournament, Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, India during the academic year 2012-2013 were only selected. Speed and agility was measured by using 50 meters dash and shuttle run tests respectively.The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and independent sample ‘t’ test. There was a significant difference in speed and agility between attackers and liberos. It was concluded that in volleyball the liberos have better speed and agility than attackers. The level of significance was set at 0.05.

In the context of rising unemployment of college-level workforce while the need for business exists, the development of a set of competency criteria is needed to help students have a better preparation in order to meet the needs of employers in the future. This research aimed to meet the requirements. The research used data from two surveys, including 30 employers and 300 students from 5 universities. The analysis methods were the descriptive statistics and the T-test, conducted on the Stata 12 software. As a result, the study selected 15 most important competencies in 30 initial aggregated ones. Analyzing the set of competency criteria, the results showed that there was a significant difference in perceptions about the importance of criteria between students and employers. While employers considered the skill and attitude criteria to be more important, the students punctuated the criteria of knowledge. In addition, the findings showed that students had not yet met what the business needed in all 15 criteria at the current time.

This study aims to find out to what extent cognitive component is considered in the translation courses at the English Departments at two faculties of Arts at Taiz University, namely Faculty of Arts, main campus and Faculty of Arts, Turba branch. The cognitive component was selected because it plays a vital role in the development of psychophysiological competence of the translator. The sample of the study consisted of all fourth level students at the two faculties for the academic year 2018/2019. The total number of students participating in the study was 203 students. The study mainly used descriptive quantitative methods. The results of the study showed that the level of application of the cognitive component in translation courses is generally lower than the average or hypothetical mean of the scale (165). The average score of the research sample was (80.3645) with a standard deviation of (26.29714), a t-test value of (-45.856) and a level of Significance of (000.) That is, the application of the cognitive component in the current translation courses is very low and almost non-existent. The study recommended that further studies need to be conducted with a view to finding out to what extent cognitive elements in particular and other psycho-physiological aspects in general are considered in the current translation and interpreting programmes. The study has also recommended that certain activities that can enhance the psycho-physiological components of translators/interpreters should be designed and utilized in the translation/interpreting classroom.

The study aimed to find out whether fly swatter game can give influence toward students’ vocabulary mastery. The subject of this study was grade VII-2 of SMPN 9 Tangerang Selatan in the academic year of 2018/2019, which consisted of 42 students. The method used in this study is a quantitative method with the design of the pre-experimental study. The data from pre-test and post-test were analyzed statistically using spss 16. The result of this study showed; the students’ pre-test mean score was 45.4 and the students’ post-test mean score was 86.6. The result of t-test was 21.55 and significant (2-tailed) was 0.00 < p (0.05). The hypothesis (H1) was accepted, which means there is a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental group. It can be concluded that applying fly swatter game in teaching vocabulary to 7th grade students of SMPN 9 Tangerang Selatan is effective.

Abstract: This study aims to determine the difference in understanding of students' concepts in mathematics subjects using discovery learning models and direct teaching models in class X of Khamas Asembagus Vocational School 2017/2018 academic year. This research is a type of quasi experiment research (quasi experiment). The population in this study was class X of the Khamas Asembagus Vocational School which consisted of 3 classes with 80 students. The sample in this study is class X TKJ 1 as many as 24 students as the experimental class and class X MM as many as 31 students as the control class. Data collection in this study was conducted using a test and then analyzed by t-test. The results of the analysis show that tcount> ttable or 3.198> 1.6741, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in the level of understanding of students' concepts in mathematics between those using the discovery learning model and the direct teaching model.  Keywords: Discovery Learning, Learning Outcomes, mathematical concepts Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan tingat pemahaman konsep siswa pada mata pelajaran matematika yang menggunakan model discovery learning dan model pengajaran langsung pada siswa kelas X SMK Khamas Asembagus tahun pelajaran 2017/2018. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian quasi experiment (kuasi eksperimen). Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu kelas X SMK Khamas Asembagus yang terdiri dari 3 kelas dengan jumlah 80 siswa. Sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu kelas X TKJ 1 sebanyak 24 siswa sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas X MM sebanyak 31 siswa sebagai kelas kontrol. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan test dan selanjutnya dianalisis dengan uji t-test. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa thitung > ttabel atau 3,198 > 1,6741, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan tingkat pemahaman konsep siswa pada mata pelajaran matematika antara yang menggunakan model pembelajaran discovery learning dan model pengajaran langsung. Kata kunci: discovery learning, hasil belajar, konsep matematika

The aim of this research is to describe the implementation of Wholesome Scattering Game in improving students’ writing skills on descriptive text and to find out whether there is a significant difference between students who were taught by using Wholesome Scattering Game and the students who were not. This research used quantitative approach focusing on experimental research which was conducted at SMAN 2 Sungaiselan in academic year 2019/2020. The researcher used purposive sampling technique and two classes were taken as samples, with 69 students (35 students for the control group and 34 students for the  experimental). The result of the test was analyzed by using statistical analysis of Paired sample t-test and Independent sample t-test. The finding showed that the students who were taught by using Wholesome Scattering Game got higher score than those who were taught by using non-Wholesome Scattering Game. It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, while the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. It could be concluded that there was a significant difference between students who were taught by using Wholesome Scattering Game and the students who were taught without using Wholesome Scattering Game.

Nowadays the education system has dramatically changed from traditional classroom teaching to remote online teaching due to this COVID-19 crisis. This study aimed to estimate the challenges in Online Learning among undergraduate l students studying in various Aided colleges during this lockdown period due to the COVID-19 crisis. The study was conducted by employing a questionnaire prepared using 'Google form'. An aggregate of 136 undergraduate students participated in this survey. For hypotheses testing both descriptive statistics such as 'Mean, SD' and inferential statistics such as t – test' were employed. Analysis showed that there is no significant difference between Problems faced by UG students in terms of gender, place of living, and academic year. The study confirms that girl students have more than boy students in the online learning process.

This research was intended to investigate the effect of a culture-based approach in improving students’ reading comprehension on spoof text. For that purpose, a true experimental study was applied to the eleventh-grade students of SMAN 1 Soreang. The sample of this study was 88 students from that school. These students were divided equally into the control and experimental group. The experimental group was given the Culture-Based Approach (CBA) as the treatment in comprehending the text.  The students’ scores of pre-test and post-test from both groups were statistically analyzed and compared by the T-test. The findings could be summarized that generally, students from the experimental group gained better achievement than from the control group on their post-test scores. The data analysis also showed that there was a significant difference between the mean score of the pre-test (53.45) and the post-test (58.39.). Furthermore, the result of the t-test (5.707) was relatively higher than the t- table (2.018) for a 0.5 percent level of significance. It indicated that the students’ achievement was significantly improved after the treatment of using a Culture-Based Approach. Thus, it is recommended that a Culture-Based Approach should be considered as an alternative choice for English teachers in teaching spoof text.

Sports, the most ancient human endeavour, known through ages since the time of Hercules, relates to various form of recreational activities like hunting, shooting, sailing,, outdoor games, athletics, swimming etc .Every society tries to include certain values in younger generation through the medium of sports. Ancient society want to encourage valour, dignity and loyalty to the group. Likewise modern society emphasizes specialization, professionalization and commercialization in the realm of sports also. In the present day scenario “Sports For all” has become a popular slogan all over world. Games and sports are is the specialised field. It requires a specific, scientific, and systematic type of training to increase optimum performance of the player. Each game requires different and specific type of physical fitness, components and training method to develop that components there are five physical fitness components and inter related to each other directly and indirectly each components has its own importance in different  games and sports. Volleyball and Handball required flexibility and agility which influence the performance of the player and game. That is why the purpose of the study was to compare the flexibility and agility between the state and national level players of volleyball and handball of district Poonch( jammu and Kashmir) state. To collect data for this study, total 30 (No 30) subject were selected out of which fifteen(15) from Handball and fifteen from Volleyball discipline in District Poonch of J&K State. The age of the subject were ranged from 15 to 20 years according to the school and college records. Flexibility and agility ability  were selected as dependent variables for the study. Sit and reach test was used to measured flexibility and 10*4 shuttle run test was used to measured agility of the players. These tests were administered after proper ground marking, proper demonstration and  proper warming up of the players. The collected data  were statistically analyzed for significant difference by using independent  test. The level of significance was set at 0.05.

The study assessed the technologies available for empowering women in cassava production in Abia State. The objectives were to determine the availability and utilization of technologies for empowering women in cassava production. Questionnaire was the instrument for data collection which was developed on a 4-point measuring scale and was validated by peer review of researchers in agricultural extension. Reliability was established by the Cronbach’s alpha which gave co-efficient of r ∝ = 0.74 indicating a high reliability. Multi-stage random sampling technique was used to select a sample size of 240 and the extension filed officers were used as research assistants to facilitate the administration and retrieval of the questionnaire. Data analysis was achieved with the use of descriptive statistics such as frequency, mean which referenced x = 2.50 as the benchmark and inferential statistics as t-test at 0.050 level of significance. The findings revealed that majority (x = 2.56) agreed that technologies were available for empowering women in cassava production while (x = 2.03) indicated that the extent women were empowered utilizing technologies for cassava production was low. The t- test of no mean significant difference was not rejected because t = 0.01 at P ≥ 0.05 which indicated no mean difference between availability and utilization of technologies for empowering women cassava producers. On the basis of the findings the study recommended that more extension field personnel should be employed and retrained on how to train women on how to use the technologies.Keywords: women, empowerment, cassava, production

The Present study aims at Finding out the (The effect Buxton Model in acquiring Geographical Concepts and Retaining them for Second intermediate class students ).    A partial control experimental design with post test experimental control groups, The sample is deliberately selected from first AL-Rusafah Directorate General of Education in Baghdad.    Intermediate school AL.khulfau AL.Rashedeen for boys is the assigned school for  the experimental work. Two sections are randomly selected from the lst stage(B)is assigned as the experimental group where while (C)is assigned at the control group,.   The total number of sample (67) male students distributed into (33) students in the experimental group and(34) students in the control group .    The two groups are equalized in the following variables ; prior knowledge ,age , IQ, ,students scores in Geography on the previous academic year . Several external factors are controlled during the experiment.           The teaching material is specified in three chapters selected from the prescribed textbook for the Second intermediate stage which is entitled for the academic year 2013 -2014 in Iraq Content analysis is done to identify the major and miner concepts which totaled (97) concepts .In the light of the concepts, behavioral objectives are formulated totaling(51) ones based on Blooms taxonomy on the following levels ;identifying, recognizing , applying.(40)lesson plans are prepared ,20 per group. and prepared test for acquiring geography concepts including (50) Test items, after three months ,at the end of the experimental work. T-test formula for two independent samples is used to process data and find out results . show the following; There are statistically significant difference on a level of significance of (0,05) in acquiring geography concepts between the two groups in favour of the experimental group. There are statistically significant difference on a level of significance of (0,05) in retaining geography concepts between the two groups in favour of the experimental group.
