The objective of this study was to investigate the profiles of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (MH) infection at different ages of pig in a sow – finishing herd using serological and molecular methods. A total of 30 study piglets were born from non-vaccinated sows with MH. They were injected one-dose of inactivated MH vaccine at the 10th week. MH infection status was evaluated by using ELISA to detect MH antibodies from blood samples, and PCR to detect MH DNA in nasal swabs or oral fluid samples every other week from newborn to slaughter time. The results of this study showed that PCR positive proportions were low at 1st-2nd week (7-13%), then increased significantly during 5th -7th week (73-79%) and reduced at 8th week (33%); finally became negative after 13th week of age. This pattern corresponds to the one of antibody level. In particular, the level of maternal antibodies against MH was very high due to maternal immunity, then decreased gradually to negative at 7-8 weeks of age, and finally increased gradually from 13 weeks of age to all positive at 25 weeks of age. In conclusion, the result showed that in this herd, MH might invade pigs by the time of 5-7 weeks of age after maternal immunity disappears, and humoral response can overcome the infection at week 13. This should be noted to have appropriate strategies to control MH at the farm.

The aim of our study was to map the situation of swine mycoplasmoses on four farms in the region of Eastern Slovakia. The primary agent of Enzootic pneumonia of swine isMycoplasma hyopneumoniae. After reviewing the health status of conventional herds and evaluation of clinical symptoms, paired samples of nasal swabs and venous blood samples were collected from 38 pigs with clinical signs of respiratory disease. Nasal swab samples were tested by nested PCR, while blood samples were used to detect antibodies againstM. hyopneumoniaeby blockingELISA. The presence ofM. hyopneumoniaewas confirmed by nested PCR in four pigs (10.5%) and by blocking ELISA in 16 pigs (42.1%) of all four farms. This work presents for the first time comparison of different methods to diagnoseM. hyopneumoniaeinfection on pig farms in Eastern Slovakia.

Objectives: Assess the nutritional status, worm infection status and some related factors among children aged 12-36 months of Dakrong district, Quang Tri province. Subject and method: A cross sectional study was carried out in 2010, in 680 children aged 12-36 months in 4 communes of Dakrong district, Quang Tri province. Results: The malnutrition rate was 55.0% for underweight, 66.5% for stunting and 16.2% for wasting. The prevalence of malnutrition increases by age group. The prevalence of worm infection was 31.6%, the highest prevalence was belong to Ascaris infection (24.6%), followed by Hookworm and Trichuris (6.5% and 6.2%, respectively). The prevalence of worm infection among children under two is very high (27.0%). The prevalence of worm infection was distributed quite equally between the malnutrition children group and normal children group. Recommendation: Early deworming forchildren from 12 months should be considered as important strategy against the malnutrition of children in Dakrong district, Quang Tri province

An anaerobic inverse turbulent bed, in which the biogas only ensures fluidisation of floating carrier particles, was investigated for carbon removal kinetics and for biofilm growth and detachment. The range of operation of the reactor was kept within 5 and 30 kgCOD· m−3· d−1, with Hydraulic Retention Times between 0.28 and 1 day. The carbon removal efficiency remained between 70 and 85%. Biofilm size were rather low (between 5 and 30 μm) while biofilm density reached very high values (over 80 kgVS· m−3). The biofilm size and density varied with increasing carbon removal rates with opposite trends; as biofilm size increases, its density decreases. On the one hand, biomass activity within the reactor was kept at a high level, (between 0.23 and 0.75 kgTOC· kgVS· d−1, i.e. between 0.6 and 1.85 kgCOD·kgVS · d−1).This result indicates that high turbulence and shear may favour growth of thin, dense and active biofilms. It is thus an interesting tool for biomass control. On the other hand, volatile solid detachment increases quasi linearly with carbon removal rate and the total amount of solid in the reactor levels off at high OLR. This means that detachment could be a limit of the process at higher organic loading rates.

The rules for the lattice rotation during rolling (plane strain) deformation of fcc polycrystals are studied with a viscoplastic self-consistent model. Very high values of the ratesensitivity exponent are used in order to establish Sachs-type conditions with large local deviations from the macroscopic strain. The lattice rotation depends on the grain shape. For equiaxed grains the lattice rotation follows the MA rule, which is the one normally used in solid mechanics. For elongated and flat grains the lattice rotation follows a different rule, the PSA rule. In the standard version the model performs a transition from MA to PSA with increasing strain. There is avery clear difference between the textures resulting from the two different rules. MA leads to a copper-type texture, and PSA leads to a brass-type texture.

The aim of this study was to identify pasteurella multocida and their types by PCR in cattle’s and buffaloesi bagdad from March to August 2012 on 204 animals , including 102 cattle and 102 buffaloes at slaughter houses from Baghdad .Blood samples and nasal swaps were collected , before slaughtering and lung tissues of slaughtered animal , and from 54 clinically suspected cases of pasteurellosis , including 27 bovines ,and 27 buffaloes the samples taken included blood and nasal swabs . Pasteurellamultocida were isolated from 94 animals include 49 cattle 45 buffaloes. The typing of the isolates by multiplex PCR for genotyping Pasteuerllamultocida revealed 93 isolates of type B , 31 from cattle and 62 from buffaloes ,and 81 isolates of type A , 55 from cattle and 26 from buffaloes .

Very high results, the achievement of which is possible only with long systematic train-ing with the use of large and sometimes excessive physical activity characterizes modern sports. The preparation process from beginner to master of sports takes an average of 5–10 years. During this time, the athlete must develop and improve special physical and mental qualities, as well as master certain motor skills specific to this sport. Therefore, children's and youth's organisms of athletes are subject to increased loads, especially in classes that develop endurance. But not always physical activity contributes to the strengthening of the body, sometimes excessive loads, especially with the wrong approach, lead to complications from the cardiovascular system, in particular, to changes in heart rate. Therefore, the issue of adapting the functions of the heart of young athletes to muscle loads becomes increasingly important. The purpose of the work was to study the activities of the cardiovascular system of skiers-riders in the preparatory period of the one-year cycle. Currently, various methods of functional diagnosis of the cardiovascular system are used. We considered the results obtained during electrocardiographic examination of skiers-riders. We investigated electrical activity of the heart and presented model characteristics according to the considered indicators.

Monitoring the operation of the latest-generation nuclear reactor requires ultrasonic transducers able to operate at very high temperatures (> 600°C). To achieve this, CEA has requested from “Institut de Soudure” to help developing a new technology for these transducers compared to the one previously developed. This began with the development of a reliable assembly technique between a lithium niobate piezoelectric disc whose Curie temperature exceeds 1100°C and stainless steel discs. The chosen solution was to braze the niobate disc between two stainless steel discs. Parallel to this development, it was also necessary to develop a NDE procedure to verify the quality of the brazing assemblies. This development began with a simulation of immersion ultrasonic testing of the assemblies. The constraints were to be able to control the two brazed interfaces from the same access face, with the possibility of detecting and dimensioning defects with an equivalent diameter of 0.25 mm. This phase is important to define the optimal transducer with the associated operating conditions. The first assemblies validated the preliminary choices. To exploit the cartographies obtained, a signal processing procedure was developed. This enabled an automatic characterization of the indications observed. However, the analysis of the signals observed proved to be more complex than the one predicted by the simulation. Once the origin of the various observed signals was identified it was then possible to define windows allowing the construction of the cartographies to analyze. In case of a good quality assembly, it was possible to qualify the generated beam and to image it in the focal plane but with an observed signal having a very low damping. These first encouraging results, however, show that there is still some validation and development work to increase the sensitivity of the developed translator and its damping.

The repercussion on the immune response of the expression of intraspecific aggressiveness in the face of a stressor agent was investigated in rats. Ninety-day-old animals were divided into three groups: the control group (only immunological measurements were performed), the foot-shock (FS) (animals individually receiving FS), and the intraspecific aggressive response (IAR) group (animals receiving FS and presenting IAR). For immunological measurements, blood samples were collected promptly at 7 and 15 days after FS or IAR. The FS reduced the total leukocyte amount presented. However, aggressiveness triggered not only reduction of the leukocytes, but also lymphocyte decrease and neutrophil increase. Moreover, an elevation in total leukocytes associated with an increase in the humoral immune response was also observed one week after IAR. In this study, the expression of intraspecific aggressiveness in the face of a stressor seemed to activate the immune system and to potentiate the antigen specific humoral response.

Manganese nodules on deep ocean floors have been interested in as future metal resources these forty years. The Total Materials Requirement (TMR) of the conventional proposed mining method, however, is very high because of the much lifted water with the nodules from the seafloor to the sea surface and the longer transportation from the mining site to the smelting plant. An innovative conceptual design of the TMR-less mining system is presented. The economy is examined and compared with the one of the conventional method.
