The soybean seeds produced in Santa Catarina have the potential for the application of new marketing strategies because they have superior quality over the minimum standards established by the Brazilian legislation. This potential was verified using time series analysis (TS). The main goal of this study was to characterize the physiological quality of soybean seeds produced in the State of Santa Catarina using data from the last five harvests in order to establish new commercialization strategies based on seed quality. Historical data for germination and vigor were obtained from the 2012/2013 to 2016/2017 harvests, with a total of 4606 lots studied. To validate the historical data, data from the 2016/2017 harvest were included. For this analysis, 100 lots of soybean seeds from the 2016/2017 harvest were collected, and laboratory tests for germination and vigor were performed. The results of the time series analysis showed that, on average, the germination rate ranged from 89 to 93%, with all values being higher than the minimum required for commercialization by the Brazilian legislation. Vigor ranged on average from 82 to 90%. Currently, there is no reference value for vigor in the Brazilian legislation for seed commercialization purposes. Of the total of lots evaluated, 1%, 2%, 21%, and 76% of seeds presented germination < 70%, 70–80%, 80–90%, and > 90%, respectively, whereas 4%, 3%, 7%, 17%, and 69% of the lots presented vigor < 70%, 70–75%, 75–80%, 80–85%, and > 85%, respectively. Considering that 76% of the lots presented germination > 90% and 69% of the lots had vigor > 85%, the lots that presented these percentages were ranked, and 64% were determined to meet high quality standards. Taking into account the 100 sampled lots from the 2016/2017 harvest, 55% presented germination > 90% and 58% had vigor > 85%. In this harvest, 41% of the lots met the standards of at least 90% germination and 85% vigor according to the ranking methodology. This study concludes that due to the stability of climatic conditions, the State of Santa Catarina produces soybean seeds with physiological quality above the minimum standards, which allow the establishment of a minimum vigor standard of 85% for the commercialization of soybean seeds.

Abstract:The production of soybeans in the state of Santa Catarina is quite significant in the national context, since the state is recognized for producing seeds with high standards of physiological quality, due to the use of modern technologies and favorable climatic conditions. The aim of this study was to evaluate the physiological quality of soybean seeds produced by major companies in the state of Santa Catarina, analyzed in three seasons: harvesting (reception at UBS), after processing and at the time of sale. The experiment was conducted in the state of Santa Catarina, in the main regions and companies producing commercial soybean seeds: Xanxerê (companies A, B and C), Abelardo Luz (companies D and E), and Campus Novos (companies F and G), in addition to Canoinhas, which was evaluated with a single producer (company H). Data analysis and interpretation of the results showed that the soybean seeds produced in different regions have adequate quality for sowing and germination within the standards required for marketing, except the BRS 295 cultivars and Don Mario 7.0i company "F".

Different technologies of soybean seed drying are considered, their positive and negative sides are revealed. A comparative analysis of drying methods was carried out. It is established that the drying of soybean seeds in an electromagnetic field is one of the most promising. A combination of two methods of drying infrared and microwave soybean seeds in a single technological process is proposed. The requirements for the quality of soybean seeds are considered when stored in accordance with the State Standard, in particular the observance of humidity, which should not be more than 12%.

Millet is one of the main grasses used for summer cultivation, however, one of the problemsinvolving pasture formation in Brazil is the variation in the quality of the seeds of commercial forage species, and this has compromised the establishment of pastures. The objective of this study was to evaluate the physical and physiological characteristics of millet seeds commercialized in different regions of the State of Santa Catarina, in the 2014/2015 harvest. Seventeen lots of millet seeds of BRS 1501 from different commercial establishments and regions (Far West, West, Midwest, North and South) ofthe State of Santa Catarina were used. The physical and physiological quality of seed lots was evaluated. The germination of the analyzed lots, independently of the region, was in accordance with the current legal standards. Only the lots from the West region presented values below the legal standard of 95% for physical purity, but not differing from the others. No differences between the lots collected by region were verified for the vigor evaluations. However, it was observed that the lots presented highgermination and low emergence, being characterized a problem in the establishment of pastures in the field.

In the southern region of Brazil, during the winter period ryegrass becomes essential for pasture formation. The objective of this work to evaluate the official results of seeds quality of ryegrass, black oat grass, sudangrass and pearl millet, originated from commercial establishments from the State of Santa Catarina. Lots of forage seeds sampled in the state of Santa Catarina in the year of 2013 to 2015, presented low physiologic and physic quality, being the main criteria of disapproval the physic purity and germination. The samples of forage seeds from C1 and C2 categories collected in Santa Catarina present superior quality in relation to the non-certified S1 and S2. The quality of ryegrass seeds (national) showed below the legal standards established, independent of the year, for the physic purity and germination criteria. Although, for the ryegrass lots (imported) there was none disapproval related to germination and physic purity being out of the tolerated limits. The germination and physic purity indexes, for sudangrass lots presented conformity index adequate to the tolerated limits allowed by legal standards. In the other hand, for the same species, the criteria for number of other cultivated species presented 100% of disapproval for the analyzed lots in the non-certified categories in 2013. Lots of pearl millet seeds, with exception of those from the C2 category sampled in 2014, presented in conformity to the legal standards required, being, in comparison with the other species, the one that showed lower non-conformity degree in the analyzed period.

Political democracy should be equivalent to the economic development of the quality of democracy, economic democracy if not upright, even the owner of the ruling power and money, which is parallel to force global corporatocracy. Consequently, the economic oligarchy preservation reinforces control of production and distribution from upstream to downstream and power monopoly of the market. The implication, increasingly sharp economic disparities, exclusive owner of the money and power become fertile, and the end could jeopardize the harmony of the national economy. The loss of national economic identity that makes people feel lost the “pilot of the state”. What happens then is the autopilot state. Viewing unclear direction of the economy, the national economy should clarify the true figure.

An “explosive extratropical cyclone” is an atmospheric phenomenon that occurs when there is a very rapid drop in central atmospheric pressure. This phenomenon, with its characteristic of rapidly lowering the pressure in its interior, generates very intense winds and for this reason it is called explosive cyclone, bomb cyclone. With gusts recorded of 116 km/h, atmospheric phenomenon – “cyclone bomb” (CB) hit southern Brazil on June 30, the beginning of winter 2020, causing destruction in its influence over. One of the cities most affected was Chapecó, west of the state of Santa Catarina. The satellite images show that the CB generated a low pressure (976 mbar) inside it, generating two atmospheric currents that moved at high speed. In a northwest-southeast direction, Bolivia and Paraguay, crossing the states of Parana and Santa Catarina, and this draft that hit the south of Brazil, which caused the destruction of the affected states.  Another moving to Argentina, southwest-northeast direction, due to high area of high pressure (1022 mbar). Both enhanced the phenomenon.
