This study focused on the achievement levels of Grade 11 struggling learners using an electronic Strategic Intervention Material in Mathematics (eSIMath) in teaching least mastered competencies in the subject, Statistics and Probability for Senior High School. A Solomon four-group quasi-experimental research design was employed to two classes using eSIMath-based instruction, and two classes via conventional instruction, who were identified through a local diagnostic examination given by the teacher-researcher before the instruction for the second semester of the school year 2019-2020. The data gathered were analyzed using independent and dependent t-test, Dunnett's T3 test for post-hoc analysis of posttest scores, and assessment of mean gained scores. Findings of the study showed that the use of eSIMath-based instruction is an effective approach in the increase of struggling learners' achievement level in Statistics & Probability.

Manipulative are concrete objects that are designed to help students learn mathematics. Modeling real-life situations and abstract mathematics concepts is the most striking advantage of physical manipulatives in the mathematics classroom. The study used a quasi-experimental design to compare the performance of two freshman Bachelor of Secondary Education classes in Math 101 (Basic Mathematics) and determine the effect of teaching the subject using manipulative. The controlled group had the conventional instruction method while the experimental group was taught using activities with manipulative. Sources of data used in the study were results of the OLSAT mental ability test, an attitude towards mathematics inventory and a mathematics test used in the pretest and posttest. Statistical tools included frequency counts, percentages, ranking, weighted means and t-test for independent samples and correlated samples. The study found out that both groups were within the normal range of mental ability. The subject had a favorable attitude towards mathematics. There was a significant difference in the performance of the two groups after the treatment. The study recommended the extensive use of manipulatives in teaching mathematics classes inasmuch as the students taught could adopt the same techniques when they become teachers in the field.

Teaching materials by integrating local culture makes easier for students to understand the subject matter in the learning process. The aims of the study is to measure the effectiveness of teaching materials based on local wisdom of agriculture in Binjai in improving the students problem solving abilities. The research method was a quasi experimental which use non equivalent control group in the pretest posttest design. The sample of study were students of Senior High School grade X in Binjai that consisted of experiment group which used teaching materials based on local wisdom of agriculture in Binjai and control group that used student handbooks. Teaching materials are tested by material experts and technology experts to ensure the quality of teaching materials. Data collection was conducted through test. The results showed that the teaching materials based on local wisdom of agriculture in Binjai effective in improving students problem solving abilities in the experimental group students based on the results of N gain value was 0.67 which has medium criteria. It means teaching materials based on agricultural local wisdom of agriculture in Binjai can be used as one of the teaching materials in learning activities.

Objective To explore as a pilot study the effects of group reminiscence therapy upon depression of people living with dementia within dementia-specific day care centers. Method A unique pre-test-post-test, quasi-experimental design counterbalanced with a qualitative grounded theory video analysis of facial expression and behavior was used to measure the effects of group reminiscence therapy. The study recruited 21 participants in total from two dementia-specific day care centers. Results The findings highlighted improvements in depression, communication, and positive mood after group reminiscence intervention. The results also showed that participants scored higher on average during the Chinese New Year and marriage reminiscence activities compared to the other activities, revealing the subject matters extraordinarily significance. Conclusion This study provides evidence supporting the proposition that undertaking a cultural focus reminiscence therapy may produce significant psychosocial improvements for a person with dementia.

Tests in schools can be informative. However, the Department of Education administered a set of examinations like the National Achievement Test which is designed to determine the learner's achievement level, strengths, and weaknesses in five curricular subject areas at the end of the school year. The study intended to look into the relationship between academic performance in Mathematics and NAT results. There has been a purposive universal sampling design. It is purposive because the research is only studying the academic performance in Mathematics, and universal because the subjects of the study are all the grade six pupils of Victoriano D. Tirol Advanced Learning Center for four consecutive school years. Documentary analysis was used as to the data of existing records on the academic performance and National Achievement Test results in Mathematics. The association between academic achievement and NAT outcomes in Mathematics was investigated using correlation analysis and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The analyses revealed that there is a significant correlation between the pupil's academic performance and NAT results. Also, there is a significant degree of variance in the student's performance as to National Achievement Test Results in four consecutive school years.

Research on the role of mobile learning in computational thinking is limited, and even more so in its use in initial teacher education. Aligned to this there is a need to consider how to introduce and expose pre-service teachers to computational thinking constructs within the context of the subject area they will teach in their future classrooms. This paper outlines a quasi-experimental study to examine the role of mobile learning in facilitating computational thinking development amongst pre-service teachers in initial teacher education. The study enquires if there are significant differences in grades achieved in computational thinking and programming learning when mobile learning is introduced. Findings showed and reaffirmed the positive influence of the mobile applications on the development of computational thinking amongst the pre-service teachers who participated.

Abstract: This research aimed to investigate whether or not there were significant differences in reading comprehension and writing achievement between the eighth grade students of SMP Islam Az-Zahra 2 Palembang who were taught by using Literature-Based instruction and those who were not. This study used one of the quasi experimental designs: pretest-posttest design. The sample was selected purposively from the whole population based on their reading comprehension scores. Forty six eighth graders were selected as the sample and equally divided into experimental and control groups. Pretest and posttest were given to both groups.  Using paired sample statistics,  the results of the experimental group showed that the students’ reading comprehension and writing achievement ? significantly improved. Furthermore, the result of the independent t-test showed that with mean difference of reading comprehension was 8.609, t value 11.111(p<0.05). Moreover, the mean difference of writing achievement was 6.8043, t value 10.478 (p<0.05).   Keywords:   Literature-based instruction, reading                     comprehension and writing achievement.

The Effect of using the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning model to determine the effect on learning outcomes using the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning process. This research is a quasi experimental research which consists of a control class and an experimental class. The control class uses the conventional learning model and the experimental class uses the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning model, conducted in the X MIPA 1 and X MIPA 2 in SMA Negeri 1 Rumbia. The research data were obtained from test sheets and observations at the end of each lesson. The average cognitive learning outcomes of the experimental class were 80% and the control class was 63,83%. The average psychomotor learning outcomes of the experimental class were 80,46% and the experimental class was 75%. The results showed that there was an influence of the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning model on the learning outcomes of students in learning biology. Kata Kunci : Model Pembelajaran Problem Based Instruction (PBI), Hasil, Belajar peserta didik
