Seaweed extracts are widely used in agriculture as ecological focus substances applied to improve crop growth and quality. One of the primary benefits they bring is increased effectiveness of fruit setting as well as improved stress tolerance, essential for warm-climate crops cultivated in the nonoptimal environmental conditions of Northern and Central Europe. The aim of this study was a preliminary investigation of any genotype-dependent reaction of eggplant cultivars (<em>Solanum melongena</em>) to application of a standardized extract of the seaweed <em>Ascophyllum nodosum</em> (Göemar BM-86) under field conditions in Poland. The only statistically relevant result of this biostimulant was shown for cultivar ‘Flavine’ F<sub>1</sub>, where it positively affected the early crop yield and the number of fruits per plant. Fruit quality attributes, including antioxidant activity, as well as selected mineral contents, increased as an effect of biostimulant spraying. This reaction was specific for the cultivars investigated, and it was confirmed by significant differences in the main effects between biostimulant and control treatments for almost all the properties measured. The use of this <em>A. nodosum</em> extract suggested that there could be an improvement in fruit yield and quality in selected eggplant cultivars under field conditions in the temperate climatic zone.

This study puts particular emphasis on the role of copper ions in the performance of hydrogen peroxide bleaching (P-stage). Owing to their variable levels across the bleaching line due to washing filtrates, bleaching reagents, and equipment corrosion, these ions can play a major role in hydrogen peroxide decomposition and be detrimental to polysaccharide integrity. In this study, a Cu-contaminated D0(EOP)D1 prebleached pulp was subjected to an acidic washing (A-stage) or chelation (Q-stage) before the alkaline P-stage. The objective was to understand the isolated and combined role of copper ions in peroxide bleaching performance. By applying an experimental design, it was possible to identify the main effects of the pretreatment variables on the extent of metals removal and performance of the P-stage. The acid treatment was unsuccessful in terms of complete copper removal, magnesium preservation, and control of hydrogen peroxide consumption in the following P-stage. Increasing reaction temperature and time of the acidic A-stage improved the brightness stability of the D0(EOP)D1AP bleached pulp. The optimum conditions for chelation pretreatment to maximize the brightness gains obtained in the subsequent P-stage with the lowest peroxide consumption were 0.4% diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA), 80ºC, and 4.5 pH.

Telecommunications industry evolution shows the highest rates of transition to high-tech systems and is accompanied by a trend of deep mutual penetration of technologies - convergence. The dominant telecommunication technologies have become wireless communication systems. The widespread use of modern wireless technologies has led to the saturation of the environment with technological electromagnetic fields and the actualization of the problems of protecting the population from them. This fundamental restructuring has led to a uniform dense placement of radiating fragments of network technologies in the mudflow areas. The changed parameters of the emitted fields became the reason for the revision of the regulatory and methodological support of electromagnetic safety. A fragmented structural, functional and parametric analysis of the problem of protecting the population from the technological fields of network technologies revealed uncertainty in the interpretation of real situations, vulnerability, weakness and groundlessness of the methodological basis of sanitary-hygienic approaches. It is shown that this applies to all stages of the electromagnetic examination of the emitting fragments of network technologies. Distrust arises on the part of specialists and the population in not only the system of sanitary-hygienic control, but also the safety of modern network technologies is being called into question. Growing social tensions and radio phobia are everywhere accompanying the development of wireless communication technologies. The basis for solving almost all problems of protecting the population can be the transfer of subjective methods and means of monitoring and sanitary-hygienic control of electromagnetic fields into the field of IT.

International drug control efforts are designed to coordinate domestic laws with international activities that regulate or limit the supply of psychoactive substances. These efforts are organized around three main drug control treaties that almost all countries have ratified in order to prevent illicit trafficking and other drug-related crime, while at the same time allowing access to prescription medications. The effects of the system have been evaluated mostly in terms of the ability to eliminate illicit markets and supply. The gross imbalance in world consumption of legal opiates is a pointer to the limited availability of effective pain medications in many low-income countries, with 80% of the world’s population having either no or inadequate access to treatment for moderate or severe pain.

Integrated neuromuscular training (INT) showed benefits for improving fundamental movement skills (FMS). However, the INT health-related fitness (HRF) effects are lacking. The current study aimed to determine the effects of INT implemented during physical education (PE) in a primary school in the Republic of Serbia on HRF in female children. The sample consisted of 72 healthy girls who were divided into the intervention (EG: n = 37; mean ± SD: age = 8.17 ± 0.31) and control (CG: n = 35; age = 8.11 ± 0.31) groups. The EG and CG performed the INT program and traditional PE activities two times per week within the first ~15 min of PE class, respectively. The Fitnessgram battery tests assessed the HRF (body composition, cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular fitness, and flexibility) before and after the program. After eight weeks, the EG significantly reduced all fat measures, while the CG decreased only triceps skinfold but to a smaller extent (F = 5.92, p < 0.02, ŋ2 = 0.09). Both groups significantly improved the performance of almost all muscular fitness tests (curl-ups, trunk lift, push-ups); however, the EG increased the push-ups more than the CG (F = 9.01, p < 0.01, ŋ2 = 0.14). The EG additionally improved the modified pull-ups (F = 14.09, p < 0.01, ŋ2 = 0.19) and flexed arm hang (F = 28.82, p < 0.01, ŋ2 = 0.33) tests. The flexibility and cardiorespiratory endurance of both groups did not significantly change after eight weeks. This approach of exercise showed positive acceptance and relatively good results after only eight weeks.

Food safety is very important in the food industry as most pathogenic bacteria can cause food-borne diseases and negatively affect public health. In the milk industry, contamination with Salmonella has always been a challenge, but the risks have dramatically increased as almost all bacteria now show resistance to a wide range of commercial antibiotics. This study aimed to isolate a bacteriophage to be used as a bactericidal agent against Salmonella in milk and dairy products. Here, phage ZCSE6 has been isolated from raw milk sample sand molecularly and chemically characterized. At different multiplicities of infection (MOIs) of 0.1, 0.01, and 0.001, the phage–Salmonella interaction was studied for 6 h at 37 °C and 24 h at 8 °C. In addition, ZCSE6 was tested against Salmonella contamination in milk to examine its lytic activity for 3 h at 37 °C. The results showed that ZCSE6 has a small genome size (<48.5 kbp) and belongs to the Siphovirus family. Phage ZCSE6 revealed a high thermal and pH stability at various conditions that mimic milk manufacturing and supply chain conditions. It also demonstrated a significant reduction in Salmonella concentration in media at various MOIs, with higher bacterial eradication at higher MOI. Moreover, it significantly reduced Salmonella growth (MOI 1) in milk, manifesting a 1000-fold decrease in bacteria concentration following 3 h incubation at 37 °C. The results highlighted the strong ability of ZCSE6 to kill Salmonella and control its growth in milk. Thus, ZCSE6 is recommended as a biocontrol agent in milk to limit bacterial growth and increase the milk shelf-life.

Almost all studies of the effects of prolonged hypoxia on ventilation (VE) in humans have been performed with the end-tidal PCO2 (PETCO2) left uncontrolled. The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of 8 h of hypoxia with PETCO2 held constant with 8 h of hypoxia with PETCO2 left uncontrolled. Ten subjects completed the study. Each was seated inside a chamber in which the inspired gas could be controlled so as to maintain the desired partial pressures of end-tidal gases (sampled via nasal catheter) constant (see L.S.G.E. Howard et al. J. Appl. Physiol. 78:1088–1091, 1995.). Three 8-h protocols were employed: 1) isocapnic hypoxia, at an end-tidal PO2 of 55 Torr with PETCO2 held at the subject's resting value; 2) poikilocapnic hypoxia, at the same end-tidal PO2; and 3) control, where the inspired gas was air. VE was measured (over 3 min) at 0 and 20 min and at hourly intervals between 1.5 and 7.5 h. There was a rise in VE during isocapnic hypoxia [from an initial VE of 16.2 +/- 1.3 (SE) l/min to a final VE of 24.8 +/- 1.6 l/min], which was significant compared with poikilocapnic hypoxia and control values (P < 0.001, analysis of variance). There was no significant progressive rise in VE during poikilocapnic hypoxia compared with control values. These results show that isocapnic hypoxia produces a progressive increase in VE when sustained over an 8-h period. The onset of this response is faster than has been noted in studies of the progressive rise in VE associated with the poikilocapnic hypoxia of altitude.

Field and greenhouse experiments were conducted in Nebraska to (1) confirm the 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD)-inhibiting resistant-waterhemp biotype (HPPD-RW) by quantifying the resistance levels in dose-response studies, and (2) to evaluate efficacy of PRE-only, POST-only, and PRE followed by POST herbicide programs for control of HPPD-RW in corn. Greenhouse dose-response studies confirmed that the suspected waterhemp biotype in Nebraska has evolved resistance to HPPD-inhibiting herbicides with a 2- to 18-fold resistance depending upon the type of HPPD-inhibiting herbicide being sprayed. Under field conditions, at 56 d after treatment, ≥90% control of the HPPD-RW was achieved with PRE-applied mesotrione/atrazine/S-metolachlor+acetochlor, pyroxasulfone (180 and 270 g ai ha−1), pyroxasulfone/fluthiacet-methyl/atrazine, and pyroxasulfone+saflufenacil+atrazine. Among POST-only herbicide programs, glyphosate, a premix of mesotrione/atrazine tank-mixed with diflufenzopyr/dicamba, or metribuzin, or glufosinate provided ≥92% HPPD-RW control. Herbicide combinations of different effective sites of action in mixtures provided ≥86% HPPD-RW control in PRE followed by POST herbicide programs. It is concluded that the suspected waterhemp biotype is resistant to HPPD-inhibiting herbicides and alternative herbicide programs are available for effective control in corn. The occurrence of HPPD-RW in Nebraska is significant because it limits the effectiveness of HPPD-inhibiting herbicides.

The information and communication technologies (ICT) have penetrated into almost all areas of human life. They have a dual impact on education – increase learning efficiency and train students actively to use innovations. We assess this impact by examining teachers’ experience with innovative tools in Bulgarian schools. In an anonymous online survey, we investigate their opinions on the issues related to technology integration in contemporary classrooms. The research shows that educators appreciate the benefits of technology implementation in the teaching-learning process, but they need a single structured system encompassing all technological resources and tools. This work proposes a conception for a smart classroom – an innovative learning environment that can establish and control suitable conditions for education as well as to impact the instructional process directly.

One of the most important tasks of management accounting is to provide quality and efficient accounting information to users. The effectiveness of management accounting is manifested through the implementation of its functions, so it is relevant and urgent to consider them. The aim of the article is to study the composition, number and content of the functions of management accounting. The research methodology was based on general scientific methods of cognition like historical, logical, systemic methods, induction, deduction, analysis, as well as the methods of classification and grouping. According to the results of the research, it is found that currently there is no unified, generally accepted approach to the composition and number of the functions of management accounting (on average, there are distinguished five functions). Almost all researchers indicate information and control functions; analytical, predictive and communication functions are also present in most of the authors' papers analyzed. In some works, there are not quite appropriate combinations of two separate functions in one, and also there are similar titles of one and the same function of management accounting. There is a separation of rather narrow, specific functions, which are inherent only in certain management processes. We have summarized 32 different functions of management accounting, analyzed their number and composition, covered more than 50 authorial meanings for each of them. It has been found that researchers determine the different composition and essence of the functions depending on the direction of the study, its object and the specifics of the industry. It is quite logical that most of the various interpretations are given to the content of the information function of management accounting. According to the Conceptual Framework for Management Accounting developed by the International Federation of Accountants, the following functions have only one definition: analytical (evaluation), control and analytical, scientific and cognitive, new scientific and cognitive, motivation, organization, organizational and communication, planning and control, prognostic, reputational and the functions of management accounting. Prospects for further research are to consider the relationship between the functions of management accounting and management functions and to establish the quality and features of the manifestation of the functions of management accounting under the influence of industry characteristics of enterprises.

Mastery of keyboarding being part urgent to communicate through the computer, and very important, especially students who study in the field of business. On the other side, individual performance also influenced by the work environment, and music is one form the environment that could effect keyboarding performance. A model that can describe this is the stimulus-responsible model of mehrabian-russell which explains that music can affect the performance of individual writing. Almost all of Indonesia has traditional music. Therefore, research is needed to identify the effects of traditional music to enrich the area of innovation in strategies and techniques of learning keyboarding skills. In this study conducted an experiment on two groups, the treatment groups(traditional music) and control group (without traditional) and questionnaire to strengthen the experimental results. In preliminary tests of typing, both groups had a mean AWPM identical or similar. Furthermore, tests carried one, where the treatment group listened to five kinds of music Java, Sunda, and Bali. The test result and the result of the questionnaire showed that (typing skills shown by the average value of AWPM) will increase significantly used of traditional music as the background. So, the genre of traditional music can be stimulant to improve average performance of AWPM. There are three traditional kinds of music that can improve student typing speed and accuracy significantly, a regional music cublek-cublek suweng, kebiar bali, and oleg tambuliningan, but cublek-cublek suweng is a genre of traditional music that has the best effect. Therefore, the process of learning courses keyboarding skills needs to use instrumental traditional music, especially instrumental music that has a fast and cheerfully tempo.
