The subject of this research is presented by the peculiarities of formation of special environment contributing to active rehabilitation of the addicts and their return to society. The study is dedicated to the impact of spatial and object environment of the Orthodox retreats upon those who desire to get free from addictions, and how it becomes an environment for active psychotherapy. The amount of Orthodox rehabilitation centers grows each year, so is the number of addicts who voluntarily choose the retreats for rehabilitation in the ascetic living conditions. The scientific novelty consists in viewing the Orthodox rehabilitation centers as a conceptual environment, encouraging the addicts to recovery. Religious experience of drastic changes in person’s life as a result of his functional isolation as an addict, and living in a conceptually arranged environment, creates motivation to recovery. The research offers a review of specialized rehabilitation centers that reproduce the characteristics of Orthodox settlements of secluded type. The nature of design solution, formed as a sacredly important visual text of an Orthodox monastery/settlement, is considered as determining the worldview values and capable of shifting the idea of repentance and further revival in faith, which reveals the semantic constructs of the design [1]. The main conclusions lies in the fact that the impact of architectural environment upon the emotional state and behavior of a person allows considering the practice of Orthodox seclusion productive for overcoming the crisis states of the people defined as a result of chronic alcohol consumption and stimulants.

The purpose of this study is to identify and describe the impact and behavior of the community on post-disaster economic conditions in the city of Palu and to know the local government's public policies in handling these cases. Using qualitative methods with a case study approach, literature study, and secondary data processing from various social elements. In addition, data collection was carried out by interviewing informants who felt the direct impact of the earthquake, tsunami and liquefaction in Palu, Sigi and Donggala. The results showed that the post-disaster impact felt by the people of Palu City was generally in the "severe" classification. The socio-economic conditions of the people of Palu include several aspects, ranging from the geographical conditions that are in disaster-prone zones, to the extremely poor health conditions after the disaster. The conclusion of this research shows that the escalation of natural disasters in the city of Palu is considered quite large because it consists of three types of disasters, namely the Earthquake, Tsunami and Liquifation in the same time period. Palu City is the capital of the Province as well as the economic and administrative center of Central Sulawesi Province. Damage to warehousing infrastructure coupled with massive looting from unscrupulous people in logistics supply warehouses resulted in goods that were supposed to be distributed both to the city and the district finally unable to be implemented.

Most experts would agree that recovery from the COVID-19 crisis will be slow (see Figure 6.2), in large part due to the impact that the crisis has had on the global travel and tourism industry (Romei, 2020). Until there is vaccine, the virus will influence nearly every sector of travel from transportation, destination and resorts, to the accommodations, attractions, events and restaurants. The first section of this chapter looks at the future for these different sectors, a future heavily influenced by technology and a heightened emphasis on health and safety. The second part of the chapter focuses on a theme that has been prevalent in this book – the need for adaptability or ‘COVID-aptability’. Consumer demands and behavior will be permanently altered by the pandemic, and all stakeholders in the travel industry will need to adapt. One part of adaptability is redesigning servicescapes – a necessity for many after the lockdown, and this is the subject of the penultimate section of the chapter. The conclusion looks at lessons learned from this crisis.

Slowly during the years just preceding our War of 1812, and rapidly during the decade that followed the Peace of Ghent, the vast reaches of Latin America swam within the ken of the people of the United States. Of this “discovery” of our southern neighbors and of our relations with Latin America before 1830, we have learned much from a volume recently brought out by a distinguished historian of the United States, Professor Arthur P. Whitaker. Professor Whitaker's informing study was intended to be nothing less than a well-rounded history of the impact of Latin America upon the United States to 1830; and such it has proved to be—with one exception. Professor Whitaker completely overlooked the religious phase of the subject he otherwise treated so skillfully. Upon this neglected part of the history of our early relations with Latin America this paper will endeavor to throw some light.

This article aims to reflect on the impact that the campaign #PrimeiroAssédio [first harassment], created by the NGO Think Olga, in 2015, had on the perception of Facebook female users on the subject of harassment, drawing from the perspective of Cultural Studies. This hashtag encouraged the sharing of content and placed the feminist issue of combating sexual harassment on the agenda. We have used Martín-Barbero’s (1997) concept of mediation to investigate the context in which users published posts on Facebook and have conducted interviews with women who have published comments in the campaign’s posts. In a context of prolific content generation and intense participation, with many people speaking to many people, many authors see the emergence of politically driven action on social media, the so-called “digital activism”, as being relative, holding little expectations of radical social change. Our interviewees’ answers indicate that, in terms of tangible changes, they found that they were able to engage in dialogue about the topic with the people who were closest to them. The problem of securing and gaining reliable water supplies has been an issue of great importance to the people of Kuwait, ever since the earliest days of settlement in the region. The main objective of this paper is to analyze the Kuwaitis' attitudes concerning water and other drinks consumption. A simple, yet structured questionnaire, which provides the data base for the study was designed, presented, and employed in a person-survey of a random sample of 2,500 individuals residing in the six governorates of Kuwait. The frequency distribution of the type of water (tap, filter and/or bottled), number of classes of water, number of classes of other drinks, and other socio-economic characteristics of the sample population are presented. Results show that although an overwhelming majority of Kuwaitis know that drinking water is health enhancing, most do not drink as much per day as they should. Results also show that people in Kuwait consume a lot of dehydrating drinks. More importantly, this research establishes a baseline of information about public opinion, knowledge, and behavior regarding drinking water and other drinks, so that the impact of public education programs, in particular, may be assessed and measured in the future.

In recent decades, within the boundaries of postclassical culture, the concept of “event”, which has long been actively used both in everyday life and in scientific discourse, acquires new meanings and is realized in innovative forms. In this regard, it becomes necessary to highlight an “artistic event” as a cultural creative technology, which is becoming widespread in the development of postclassical culture, and study the role of “special artistic event” in the modern process of functioning of global and local cultures. Objectives. The aim of the article is to conceptualize events in the artistic and empirical reality and identify the conditions of their convergence. Research methodology. The author applies the method of terminological analysis for the insight into the concept of “event” in the empirical and artistic reality. The article provides a detailed application of philosophical and culturological method whereby the event is seen as sociocultural phenomenon; psychoanalytical method for the analysis of the impact of life events on the emotional state of a man; the methods of analysis and synthesis to determine the existence conditions of the events in the empirical and artistic reality; structural and comparative method that has permitted to reveal the basic elements in the structure of an artistic event and its difference from an empirical event. Results. The development trends of artistic practices in the post-classical culture convey the blending of the mundane and the social, cultural plan, the destruction of boundaries between the life and the artistic, the ability to create the events that can be classified both as empirical evidence and as an artistic act. All these properties are included in actionism as a form of modern art. The events that are created within this trend have the character of artistic events: the organization of action, the presence of the author, ideological content, focus on the target audience, publicity. At the same time such an event occurs in the empirical reality of an object (objects) that it is designed to. Such an event affects a human being (society) very seriously, introducing new concepts (ideas, images) into the outlook. These effects can be both positive and negative, aesthetic as well as anti-aesthetic. A classification of events according to the level of subjectivity has been developed, which includes such concepts as “micro-event”, “event”, “special event” and “special artistic event”. In any case, a person that perceives a creative product of actionism experiences life events that affect and sometimes change his mental nature, behaviour, emotional state. The author of such event can be any person who needs and has a desire to introduce the idea into the socio-cultural environment. “Micro-event” is a familiar action to an individual. It develops the course of everyday life and does not require the analysis and the search for interpretations. Micro-events occur as a result of natural changes that are logical in the given circumstances of human actions, which are part of the framework of everyday existence. “Event” is an act, as the result of which a person experiences changes in his/ her internal and external environment. The result of the event is always a change in the internal state, the break up, forming new views, gaining new knowledge. “Special event” is an action organized for the purpose of achieving certain goals through direct influence on the subject’s consciousness. A “special event” always has a specific initiator and a certain level of organization, that is, it cannot happen by chance, even if the subject perceives it in such a way. An individual can be both the author of a “special event” and the subject on which it is directed. In the latter case, it can be said that a “special event” has occurred if there has been an internal process of comprehension and certain indoctrination, characteristic of the “event” in general. That is, the mechanism of human perception of a random natural “event” or deterministic by another individual remains unchanged. “Special artistic event” is an action organized for the purpose of achieving certain goals, through the direct influence on the subject’s consciousness using artistic methods. The purpose of creating a “special artistic event” is to unite groups of people, introduce new ones and maintain the conventional value paradigms during a certain action. That is, a “special artistic event” cannot be organized solely for aesthetic reasons, cannot represent value in and of itself, in the isolation from the information and emotional innate content. “Special artistic events” contain significant creative potential; they can be used as an instrument for developing a dialogue between social and cultural groups, for the creation of united global communities based on common axiological guidelines. Conclusions. The reason for the rapid spread of ideas embodied in “special artistic events” is the principle of an action, based on an emotional rather than rational piece of information. Symbolic, nonverbal elucidation of the ideological component is the most productive tool for influencing and interrelating with broad audiences. Since “special artistic events” are now a powerful, effective tool for advancing ideas and forming values, it is important to use their potential for designing and introducing into the culture of socially significant values and paradigms. Their scope extends to the entire field of culture: the author confirms this fact by considering the most important aspects of socio-cultural life, in which “special artistic events” are realized. The dominant feature that distinguishes a “special event” from a “special artistic event” is the artistic and symbolic component, the presence of which indicates the relation of the latter to artistic reality, at the same time it has synchronous unfolding in the everyday reality. Novelty. An attempt is made at identifying the differences of events in the empirical and artistic reality and considering the aspects of their convergence in terms of the post-classical culture. The practical significance. The obtained results make it possible to establish the basis for further reflection of the concept “event”. The findings in this paper can be used in pedagogical and educational practice while preparing the general and specialized courses in cultural studies, art criticism, directing mass festivals.

The subject. The article is devoted to the analysis of the effectiveness of administrative punishment enforced to persons with deviant behavior of an immoral orientation, and the development of proposals for improving the effectiveness of administrative punishment from a penological point of view. The subject of the research is administrative punishment and the legally fixed type and limits of administrative-tort sanctions, which allow administrative jurisdiction bodies and courts to enforce a specific type and measure of administrative punishment aimed at forming the legality of the behavior of an administrative delinquent. The purpose of the article is to confirm or disprove hypothesis that increasing the effectiveness of administrative punishment will significantly reduce the repetition of administrative offenses due to the educational impact on the consciousness and behavior of administrative delinquents, their moral education. The author analyzes the effectiveness of administrative fine by the repetition of administrative offenses (on all-Russian and regional statistics) and develops proposals for improving the effectiveness of administrative punishment. The methodology. The results of this research were achieved through the use of general scientific methods in the framework of observation, comparative, logical interpretation of legal acts, statistical analysis as well as through the analysis of law enforcement practice. The main results. The analysis of law enforcement practice has shown the ineffectiveness of the administrative punishment imposed on persons with deviant behavior of an immoral orientation. In this regard, the author suggests penological conditions for improving the effectiveness of rule-making and law enforcement practice, points out the need to ensure interaction and cohesion of jurisprudence, sociology of law and legal psychology, methods of persuasion and coercion in the development and application of administrative sanctions measures. It provides maximum flexibility of the final decision, the possibility of taking into account legal, social, psychological, economic and other nuances of the case in order to maximize the impact on the consciousness and behavior of a person for his subsequent correction and re-education, the formation of a persistent habit of lawful behavior. The author also proposes to provide for administrative liability for failure to comply with official warnings about the inadmissibility of actions creating conditions for commission of crimes, of administrative offences or of the inadmissibility of the continuation of antisocial behavior. Conclusions. The issues of increasing the effectiveness of the appointment and execution of administrative punishment need increased attention of the state and urgently require a targeted approach to punishment first of all.

The use of cultural approaches addressing stigma and discrimination promotes acceptance by raising consciousness. People with schizophrenia are often stigmatized by others.Discrimination associated with common myths contributes to social exclusion and treatment delay, creating a barrier to recovery. This paper aims to present the development, implementation and evaluation of an anti-stigma campaign in the context of primary health care and local community using theatrical techniques. In the Health Centre waiting rooms the invisible theatre technique was implemented, consisting in the performance of a previously rehearsed script without informing the public that it was a play, aiming to provoke debate and clarify problems related to social inequality and discrimination. The play script addressed common myths related to schizophrenia: People with schizophrenia are usually dangerous and violent; People with schizophrenia are unlikely to recover; Schizophrenia, as other mental conditions is a sign of weakness and not a true medical illness and others. In the local community, street performances were implemented based on image theatre techniques consisting in the use of living body imagery to address the myths described above.Behavioural responses to the intervention were assessed using Likert type scale. Most of the people in both the settings were paying attention to the performances and dialogues. People watching street performances, however, were more active in expressing opinions or making specific questions related to the subject.Further research on the impact of anti-stigma campaigns using theatre techniques is needed. These strategies may provide an effective approach to fight stigma in communitarian settings.
