Objective: To identify the knowledge of Sexual Transmitted Diseases (STD) in adolescents before and after an educational intervention. Study Design: Quasi-experimental, longitudinal study. Place and Duration of Study: This study was conducted in the Family Medicine Unite Number 6 of the Mexican Institute of Social Security, Puebla, Mexico during January to April in 2017. Methodology: 151 patients were included in whom the knowledge level in sexual transmitted diseases were correlated. A study was used to measure the knowledge in the anatomy and sexual physiology, STDs prevention and ant conceptive. Central tendency and dispersion measures were employed for numeric variables and frequency (proportions) measures for categorical measures. Results: A total of 151 adolescents with (58.9%) are female 17 years of age, 97.4% without partner and 74% without sex life. The knowledge after an educational intervention increased 10.6% in comparison to before the intervention. The statistical treatment was based on the Wilcoxon, resulting in a p=0.000. Conclusion: The knowledge of STDs in adolescents increased after an educational intervention.

Abstract: Pocket Books, PSK, Mount Kemukus. Some of the main reasons Woman Being prostitution as well as economic factors. To PSK is a choice that has a lot of risk one is contracting sexually transmitted diseases/ HIV and they have a big share in the spread of the disease. Thus there is no reason the prostitutes must have behaviors that can prevent and make the handling of infectious diseases/ HIV as a result the risk of becoming prostitutes. But until now they have not done well with their proven PSK contract some sexually transmitted diseases.Given the rise of the behavior before and after using a pocket book in the prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases/ HIV PSK Mount Kemukus Sragen. This study was a quasi-experimental, using a pre-post test approach using a questionnaire. Enelitian population are the prostitutes in Mount Kemukus Sragen with samplel number as many as 30 people. Furthermore, the analysis using quadratic Kai Test (Chi Square) with the aid of a computer. The results showed that the behavior of infectious disease prevention / HIVsebelum and after given pocket book while there is no difference to the behavior of the handling of infectious diseases/ HIV there are significant differences. Based on these results the researchers advised to maintain good handling practices already and do efforts to improve prevention behaviors.

This project describes implementation of an educational intervention designed to initiate practice changes that support families and nurses during acute illness. An academic–practice partnership and digital storytelling methodology provided a foundation. A quasi-experimental research design included quantitative and qualitative measurement before and after the educational intervention. Themes identified in digital stories of nurse experiences caring for families provided direction for the educational intervention including the digital stories, empirical evidence, and proposed changes in nursing practice focused on families. Nurse participants ( n = 160) in the educational intervention reported positive responses on a qualitative questionnaire. Comparing pretest and posttest results of the Family Nurse Practice Scale reflected positive, though not significant change. Family members ( n = 49) reported significantly improved perceptions of support on 7 of the 14 items on the Iceland Perceived Family Support Questionnaire. This project highlighted digital storytelling’s power to promote family interventions and move family nursing knowledge into practice.

OBJECTIVE: The objective in this study was to analyze candidates' knowledge on the liver transplantation process before and after putting in practice an educational intervention. METHOD: A quasi-experimental, one-group pretest-posttest research design was adopted. The final sample included 15 subjects. Research data were collected between January and March 2010 in three phases, which were: pretest, implementation of the educational intervention (two meetings) and posttest. RESULTS: The results evidenced significant cognitive gains after the intervention, with improvements in the participants' performance . CONCLUSIONS: The research presents evidence that putting in practice a patient education strategy can enhance candidates' knowledge on the liver transplantation process and consequently contribute to a successful treatment.

Background: Accurate blood pressure (BP) measurement is a constant challenge, particularly in intensive care units. Thus, studies focusing on avoiding errors in practices of measuring BP are important to patient safety. The objective was to assess the effects of an educational intervention addressing BP measurement, targeting the theoretical and practical knowledge of nurses from a cardiac unit.Methods: This quasi-experimental, before-and-after, study was conducted in a large tertiary hospital in Brazil and included all nurses working in that unit (31 nurses, 86.1%). Data were collected through two types of assessments: practical and theoretical knowledge of the technique, before-and-after the educational intervention that involved simulation as a teaching strategy. A validated checklist was used for both assessments.Results: Most participants were female (64.5%), with an average age of 33.1 years old. Considerable improvement was observed in theoretical and practical knowledge concerning the steps used for BP measurement (p < .05). Considering the total sample, nurses complied with all steps of the BP measurement after educational intervention and the results were considered statistically significant (p < .05).Conclusions: The educational intervention improved the knowledge of nurses, which may contribute to safer healthcare delivery and error-free BP measurements.

ABSTRACT Objective: to test the effects of behavioral and educational intervention by telephone on adherence of women with inappropriate periodicity to colpocytological examination. Method: quasi-experimental study with a sample of 524 women, selected with the following inclusion criteria: be aged between 25 and 64 years, have initiated sexual activity, have inappropriate periodicity of examination and have mobile or landline phone. The women were divided into two groups for application of behavioral and educational intervention by telephone. It was used an intervention script according to the principles of Motivational Interviewing. Results: on comparing the results before and after the behavioral and educational interventions, it was found that there was a statistically significant change (p = 0.0283) with increase of knowledge of women who participated in the educational intervention. There was no change in the attitude of women of any of the groups and there was an increase of adherence to colpocytological examination in both groups (p < 0.0001), with greater adherence of women participating in the behavioral group (66.8%). Conclusion: the behavioral and educational interventions by phone were effective in the adherence of women to colpocytological examination, representing important strategies for permanent health education and promotion of care for the prevention of cervical cancer.

Introduction: Among the factors that increase sexual infections in adolescence are the early initiation of sexual relations, adolescence is considered a stage of vulnerability and exposure to risky social and/or sexual behaviors that expose them to sexual and reproductive health problems such as unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections, so it is essential that they are taught in schools comprehensive sexuality education Objective: To assess the effects of educational intervention for the prevention of sexually transmitted infections in teachers of the Antonio José Oviedo Basic Secondary School. San José de las Lajas, Mayabeque during the period: October 2017 to February 2019. Method: A quasi-experimental educational intervention study with a mixed approach to the 40 teachers included in the permanent staff of the center, a survey was applied prior to the intervention that allowed characterizing the teachers according to sociodemographic variables, exploring the level of knowledge, attitudes, perception of risk and beliefs about STIs. 15 work sessions were held and tools were given to facilitate the work on these issues with adolescents. A post-intervention survey was applied to evaluate its effectiveness. Descriptive and inferential statistics (J squared) were applied. Results: female sex predominated (72.5%), with ages between 30 and 40 years (42.5%), in males the perception of lower risk prevailed compared to females. Knowledge, beliefs, attitudes and perception of risk about STIs were inadequate prior to intervention, after intervention they increased significantly in: 92.5%, 65%, 77.5% and 70% respectively. Conclusions: The educational intervention was effective in contributing to the improvement of comprehensive sexuality education in the school environment.

This study aims to understand and explain the phenomenon of luxury prostitution in Abidjan, to propose solutions. The research took place in the municipalities of Cocody and Marcory and were based on 30 participants. This is direct actors, including several prostitutes, their clients and indirect stakeholders such as the populations of these towns, some relatives and acquaintances of prostitutes and some structures’ officials concerned, from which diverse information was collected. Data were collected using a literature review and questionnaires and then analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results certainly indicate that several factors, namely, the crisis of the family unit, lack of employment, bad companions realize the luxury prostitution in Abidjan, but the most prominent is poverty. These factors resulting disastrous consequences, such as sexually transmitted diseases and HIV / AIDS to name a few.

Malnutrition in children younger than 5 years old has persisted in time (13.5% in 1988 to 12.3% in 2012) in Mexico City. A quasi-experimental study was performed. An educational intervention was given twice a month for 6 months to mothers of mild to moderate malnourished children 1 to 5 years old. Weight, height, and body mass index of the children were obtained at the beginning and 3 and 6 months after the intervention. Thirteen mothers and 15 children were included. The baseline mean weight/age in Z score was −1.49 ± 0.65, which improved to −1.19 ± 0.60 ( P = 0.001; per protocol analysis). Linear regression analysis showed a P of 0.006 of the mothers’ adherence to improve children’s weight. The educational intervention decreased the weight deficit after 6 months with the same economic resources of the family; hence, the adherence of the mothers to the educational intervention is relevant to improve the nutritional status of their children.
