Background: Accurate blood pressure (BP) measurement is a constant challenge, particularly in intensive care units. Thus, studies focusing on avoiding errors in practices of measuring BP are important to patient safety. The objective was to assess the effects of an educational intervention addressing BP measurement, targeting the theoretical and practical knowledge of nurses from a cardiac unit.Methods: This quasi-experimental, before-and-after, study was conducted in a large tertiary hospital in Brazil and included all nurses working in that unit (31 nurses, 86.1%). Data were collected through two types of assessments: practical and theoretical knowledge of the technique, before-and-after the educational intervention that involved simulation as a teaching strategy. A validated checklist was used for both assessments.Results: Most participants were female (64.5%), with an average age of 33.1 years old. Considerable improvement was observed in theoretical and practical knowledge concerning the steps used for BP measurement (p < .05). Considering the total sample, nurses complied with all steps of the BP measurement after educational intervention and the results were considered statistically significant (p < .05).Conclusions: The educational intervention improved the knowledge of nurses, which may contribute to safer healthcare delivery and error-free BP measurements.

OBJECTIVE: The objective in this study was to analyze candidates' knowledge on the liver transplantation process before and after putting in practice an educational intervention. METHOD: A quasi-experimental, one-group pretest-posttest research design was adopted. The final sample included 15 subjects. Research data were collected between January and March 2010 in three phases, which were: pretest, implementation of the educational intervention (two meetings) and posttest. RESULTS: The results evidenced significant cognitive gains after the intervention, with improvements in the participants' performance . CONCLUSIONS: The research presents evidence that putting in practice a patient education strategy can enhance candidates' knowledge on the liver transplantation process and consequently contribute to a successful treatment.

Vocabulary considered one of the important things to learn for students, the vocabulary is basic thing that students must be mastered in foreign language lessons, especially in English. Without vocabulary students will have difficulty in mastering skills in English such as writing, reading, listening and speaking.  Therefore, it is very important to find out the solution to enhance students’ vocabulary. The objective of the research is to find out whether or not using Jumbled letters can improve the students vocabulary of the tenth grade students in MAN 2 Barru and to find out whether or not using Crossword puzzle can improve the students vocabulary of the tenth grade students in MAN 2 Barru. This research applied quasi-experimental group design with two groups experimental and control class. The population of this research was the tenth grade students of MAN 2 Barru in academic year 2018/2019. The Total sample of the research was taken by using clustering random sampling which consisted of 141 students. From two classes taken from the population of the tenth grade students of MAN 2 Barru, X MIA 1 as the experimental class consisted 29 students and X MIA 3 as the control class that consisted 29 students. The result of the data analysis showed that there was a significant difference of students’ vocabulary before and after teaching vocabulary through jumbled word letters. The value of t-test pre-test 2.09 was higher than t-table 2.000, and the value of post-test 4.62 was higher than t-table 2.000, at the level significance a =0.05 and degree of freedom (df) = 56. It can be concluded that jumbled word letters can enhance the vocabulary of the tenth grade students’ of MAN 2 Barru

ABSTRACT Objective: to test the effects of behavioral and educational intervention by telephone on adherence of women with inappropriate periodicity to colpocytological examination. Method: quasi-experimental study with a sample of 524 women, selected with the following inclusion criteria: be aged between 25 and 64 years, have initiated sexual activity, have inappropriate periodicity of examination and have mobile or landline phone. The women were divided into two groups for application of behavioral and educational intervention by telephone. It was used an intervention script according to the principles of Motivational Interviewing. Results: on comparing the results before and after the behavioral and educational interventions, it was found that there was a statistically significant change (p = 0.0283) with increase of knowledge of women who participated in the educational intervention. There was no change in the attitude of women of any of the groups and there was an increase of adherence to colpocytological examination in both groups (p < 0.0001), with greater adherence of women participating in the behavioral group (66.8%). Conclusion: the behavioral and educational interventions by phone were effective in the adherence of women to colpocytological examination, representing important strategies for permanent health education and promotion of care for the prevention of cervical cancer.

Introduction: Cucumber contains pottasium that can decrease blood pressure. This study was implemented to obtain data about the difference in blood pressure before and after consuming cucumber essence (Cucumis sativus) at women aged 30-40 years. Aim of this research is to analyzed difference s of blood pressure between before and after consuming cucumber essence (Cucumis sativus) at women aged 30-40 years. Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental with pair measurement statistic data test. Total samples of this study were 30 women at RW 02, Sukawarna district, Sukajadi, house of the village-head. Results: the average of systole before consume cucumber essence was 119,29 mmHg and after to be 115,09 mmHg. The average of diastole before consume cucumber essence was 80,91 mmHg and after to be 78,16 mmHg. Statsitic analysis showed if α = 0,05 (t0,975) value of tcalc both systolic and diastolic blood pressure > ttable so that H0 rejected and H1 accepted. Conclusion: this study showed a difference in blood pressure between before and after consuming cucumber essence (Cucumis sativus) at women aged 30-40 years.

<p>The aim of the present work was to assess the adherence to medication from polymedicated patients before and after the use of a Drug-dispensing System with Usage Control (DDSUC) and compare the levels of the clinical parameters - blood pressure, postprandial glycemia, glycated hemoglobin, triglycerides and cholesterol. DDSUC consisted of a monthly drug-dispensing package, in the shape of a blister with a calendar. This quasi-experimental study was performed in a Basic Health Unit. Twenty four patients were selected to use DDSUC for 4 months. Medication adherence was assessed through Morisky-Green test. Among the participants of the study, 62.5% were women and the average age was 67 years old. Before the use of DDSUC, 83.3% of the patients were considered as "less adherent". After the use of the system, 100% were considered as "more adherent" (p < 0.01), the means of the systolic blood pressure decreased 23.7 mmHg (p=0.000), the diastolic blood pressure decreased 12.1 mmHg (p=0.004) and glycemia diminished 79.3 mg/dl (p=0.000). The use of DDSUC improved the adherence to medication and decreased the values of the clinical parameters, making patients safer when it comes to respecting the correct use of their medication.</p>

Various non-pharmacological therapies can be used to reduce blood pressure. One of them is deep breathing relaxation. This study aimed to know the influence of deep breath relaxation to decrease the blood pressure of people with hypertension. The design of this study was an Pre-Experimental One Group Pretest-Post-test design which covered 30 respondents as the sample. They fulfilled the inclusion criteria and were chosen through purposive sampling. The independent variable in this study was deep breath relaxation and the dependent variable was blood pressure. The data collection technique was using the observation sheet of blood pressure measurement. Data were analyzed using the paired t test. The findings of this study majority there were decrease blood pressure after deep breath. Before doing the breath relaxation exercise, most of the respondents were hypertension level 1. Nonetheless, after the deep breath relaxation had been executed, most found that their blood pressure decreased although several respondents were at hypertension level 2 with stable blood pressure. The results showed that there were differences in the blood pressure patients with hypertension before and after the deep breath relaxation. There were several points which influenced the decrease in blood pressure after implementing the deep breath relaxation such as stress, cigarettes etc.

This study aims to determined the effected of wet cupping therapy on blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The study used a quasi-experimental method with one group pre-test and post-test without a control group. The study subjects total 30 respondents consisting of patients with hypertension. All subjects are given wet cupping treatment twice with an interval of 2 weeks. Blood pressure measurements made ​​before and after wet cupping. The results of analysis used a t-dependent, decrease in average systolic blood pressure was 13 333 ± 12 042 wet cupping mmHg and diastolic 4667 ± 3294 mmHg. At week 2 a decrease in average systolic blood pressure mmHg while the 8667 ± 8308 6667 ± 5525 mmHg diastolic. Decrease in average systolic and diastolic blood pressure there were significant differences (p <0.05) in the first wet cupping and second wet cupping. This shows that wet cupping therapy affects blood pressure in hypertension patients.

This project describes implementation of an educational intervention designed to initiate practice changes that support families and nurses during acute illness. An academic–practice partnership and digital storytelling methodology provided a foundation. A quasi-experimental research design included quantitative and qualitative measurement before and after the educational intervention. Themes identified in digital stories of nurse experiences caring for families provided direction for the educational intervention including the digital stories, empirical evidence, and proposed changes in nursing practice focused on families. Nurse participants ( n = 160) in the educational intervention reported positive responses on a qualitative questionnaire. Comparing pretest and posttest results of the Family Nurse Practice Scale reflected positive, though not significant change. Family members ( n = 49) reported significantly improved perceptions of support on 7 of the 14 items on the Iceland Perceived Family Support Questionnaire. This project highlighted digital storytelling’s power to promote family interventions and move family nursing knowledge into practice.

Background: Hypertension is a degenerative disease that becomes a serious problem but one way to reduce hypertension by means of cupping therapy.Objective: To know the effect of bruise therapy on blood pressure in hypertensive patients in healthy clinic Mugi Barokah Karakan, Godean, Sleman, Yogyakarta Method: This research is a quantitative research, using quasi experimental (quasi experiment) with pre and posttest without control. The population of this study were hypertensive patients who performed bruise therapy with population taking at the clinic of bruise therapy as much as 15 respondents. The sampling technique used incidental samples, with a sample size of 15 people. Data collection tool using check list.Results: The results showed the value of bivariate analysis with the wilxocon test formula that there was an effect of bruise therapy on blood pressure in hypertensive patients after bruise. That there was an average decrease in blood pressure on 15 respondents of hypertension before and after cupping therapy showed with p = 0,000 and p = 0.003 where p <0.005 Conclusion: There is infl uence of bruise therapy to blood pressure in hypertension patient at Healthy Clinic Mugi Barokah Karakan Godean Sleman Yogyakarta

ABSTRACT Objective: To compare the knowledge, attitude and practice of older adults’ caregivers before and after an educational intervention in the domains of the care between caregiver and older adult, feeding, bathing, hygiene and mobility and transportation. Method: Quasi-experimental study carried out with 82 caregivers, of which 34 participated in the intervention. Interviews were conducted through a knowledge, attitude and practice research on the older adults` care Results: The educational intervention led to improvements in knowledge, attitude and practice, with statistical significance of attitude (p <0.020) and practice (p <0.001), in the domain of the care between caregiver and older adult; knowledge (p <0.001) and practice (p <0.003) in feeding; Knowledge (p <0.001) and practice (p <0.001) in bathing and hygiene; and knowledge (p <0.001), attitude (p <0.001) and practice (p <0.001) in mobility and transportation. The analysis of the 34 caregivers who started and completed the study showed an improvement in attitude in most of the domains. Conclusion: the educational intervention is an effective and viable strategy for older adults’ caregivers.
