Bletilla is an Orchidaceae genus with high medical value, including detumescence, antibacterial, and hemostasis. In this study, detailed estimates of ploidy level, karyotype, and genome size were first obtained, and a comprehensive cytological analysis was carried out to better understand the evolution of the genus. The karyotypes of Bletilla were mainly composed of metacentric and submetacentric chromosomes with lengths ranging from 1.25 to 4.93 μm. There was moderate cytological variation in Bletilla (chromosome number 2n = 32 to 76). Diploid with 2n = 34 and 2n = 36 was detected in Bletilla ochracea and Bletilla formosana, respectively, whereas diploid (2n = 32) was dominant in Bletilla striata, dysploidy (2n = 34, 2n = 36) and polyploid (2n = 48, 51, 64, 76) variations were also observed. Three species had a relatively symmetric karyotype, and which of B. ochracea was more asymmetry. The genome size (1C-values) varied from 2.94 pg (B. striata) to 3.33 pg (B. ochracea), of which B. ochracea was significantly larger than the others (P < 0.05). A positive correlation (P < 0.01) between 1Cx vs. haploid chromosome length (HCL) and asymmetry coefficient of karyotypes (AsK%) was observed.

Unreduced gametes are the key source for the natural polyploidization in plants, but process of its formation is very low in nature. Meiotic mutants are second source for the formation of 2n pollen. In this cytological investigation, the meiotic aberrations and its impact on post-meiotic products were analysed in autotetraploid Trachyspermum ammi (L.) Sprague (4n=36). The seedlings of T. ammi (L.) Sprague were treated with 3 different concentrations of colchicine (0.2, 0.4 and 0.5%, w/v) for 3 different durations. Six polyploid plants were induced which was confirmed on the basis of cytological analysis. Colchicine, an anti-microtubular drug induced different meiotic and post-meiotic abnormalities such as chromosomal bridges, lagging chromosomes, scattering, precocious, fragments, dyads, triads, and polyads. The formation of several abnormal sporads clearly signifies the meiotic restitution. The tendency of univalents to scattered in the cytoplasm at metaphase was identified as a peculiar aberration asynapsis. Pollen variability and fusion of pollen walls was reported and pollen fertility was calculated. The morphological analysis of the pollen allowed us to confirm the occurrence of 2n pollen.

The task of segmenting cytoplasm in cytology images is one of the most challenging tasks in cervix cytological analysis due to the presence of fuzzy and highly overlapping cells. Deep learning-based diagnostic technology has proven to be effective in segmenting complex medical images. We present a two-stage framework based on Mask RCNN to automatically segment overlapping cells. In stage one, candidate cytoplasm bounding boxes are proposed. In stage two, pixel-to-pixel alignment is used to refine the boundary and category classification is also presented. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated on publicly available datasets from ISBI 2014 and 2015. The experimental results demonstrate that our method outperforms other state-of-the-art approaches with DSC 0.92 and FPRp 0.0008 at the DSC threshold of 0.8. Those results indicate that our Mask RCNN-based segmentation method could be effective in cytological analysis.

The article discusses the changes in the cell after the experiment in the bronchoalveolar lavage. According to the results of the examination of rats with dust dusting of industrial cities of the Karaganda region (Karaganda, Temirtau, Balkhash, Zhezkazgan), methods of cytological analysis were used. Cytochemical methods were used for early detection of functional changes in the body's nonspecific defense against environmental factors. Experimental studies of the impact of urban dust in Karaganda, Temirtau, Balkhash and Zhezkazgan indicate the development of a general toxic effect in rats, manifested by changes in the cells of bronchoalveolar lavage, and a violation of the integrity of the cells was established.

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis is one of the most important tests in the diagnosis of central nervous system (CNS) diseases. Although CSF analysis is most commonly used in neurological pathological conditions, it also has its place in psychiatry. Studies to date have described several valuable specific cytomorphological phenomena in the cerebrospinal fluid of patients with acute schizophrenia, which indicate inflammatory or immune-mediated etiopathogenesis of the disease. Additional and long-term research is needed to confirm and standardize the importance of cytological analysis of cerebrospinal fluid in the diagnosis and etiopathogenesis of acute schizophrenia.

Worldwide, Arthritis is a communal clinical incidence of joints, and very predominant chronic disease in India. To evaluate to affect 1% of world’s adult population. Biopsies of Synovial fluid are being done as an adjuvant technique to assist in the diagnosis of arthritis. It offers a non-invasive method to diagnose any condition of the joint like traumatic, non-inflammatory/ inflammatory. Cytomorphological examination of Synovial fluids received   in   the   Department   of   Pathology, Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital, Chennai. To examine the   gross,   microscopic, biochemical and    microbiologic variations in   the   synovial fluid in percutaneous synovial biopsy along with synovial fluid analysis was studied in 102 enrolled cases of arthritis. The liquefied was subjected to physical, biochemical and cytological analysis. To correlate synovial fluid cytology with biopsies whenever possible to increase the accuracy   of diagnosis. Synovial fluid analysis plays an important role in categorizing various arthritis and thereby helps in arriving at a diagnosis early.

The OBJECTIVE was to perform a comparative cytological analysis of the wound exudate in healing wounds during autodermoplasty on a granulating burn wound with and without vacuum therapy.METHODS AND MATERIALS. The article presents the results of the cytological study substantiated the use of vacuum therapy in combustiology. The comparative analysis was performed in 2 groups of patients. The first group consisted of patients with granulating burn wounds, who underwent surgical treatment with vacuum therapy. The second group consisted of patients who underwent surgical treatment without vacuum therapy. In both groups, the complex of surgical treatment included autodermoplasty on a granulating burn wound. All the patients were treated in the Burn Department of the «Scientific research institute – Ochapovsky regional clinic hospital № 1».RESULTS. The application of vacuum-associated dressings in the surgical treatment of patients in burn hospitals helps to reduce the time of graft retention in the plasty of granulating burn wound, decrease the number of dressings and the amount of dressing material, reduce the time of treatment of patients.CONCLUSION. The obtained cytological results allow us to justify the application of vacuum therapy in the surgical treatment of granulating burn wounds.
