Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a stress-free, relatively safe method supporting the treatment of many different diseases. Although it is widely used in human medicine (including dentistry), in veterinary medicine, especially in the treatment of horses, there are not many scientifically described and documented cases of its use. Equine Odontoclastic Tooth Resorption and Hypercementosis syndrome is a disease that affects older horses and significantly reduces their quality of life. The only effective treatment for this condition is extraction of the incisors. The described case compares the recovery process of the alveolar area after extraction of incisors during the course of EOTRH syndrome without and with the use of a chamber, in horses with the same clinical picture of the disease, of the same age, and living in the same conditions. According to the authors’ knowledge, the presented case describes the use of a chamber in equine dentistry for the first time.

Objective: The aim of this study is to assess the efficacy of topical 5- fluorouracil (5%- FU) with micro needling in treating stable vitiligo. In addition to, assessment the side effects of the treatment. Patients and Methods: A Prospective study (Before& After) conducted for the period one year (April 2019- April2020)at Tishreen University Hospital in Lattakia- Syria, 31 patients with stable vitiligo who received treatment with micro needling and topical 5- fluorouracil (5%- FU) were included in this study. Results : The median age was 36 years, 67.70% of patients were female. Focal type was found in 61.3%, and most common sites of vitiligo involvement were hand and feet (33.7%), followed by trunk (24.8%)and extremities (24.8%). After 6 months of treatment, improvement was excellent in 63.4%, and very good in 23.8%. The lesions of neck and trunk were responded better to treatment than those in other parts of the body. Regarding of side effects, pain, erythema, and itching were reported in 100% followed by ulceration in (16.1%). Conclusion: Topical 5%- fluorouracil (5%- FU) with needling appears to be an effective and safe method in treating stable vitiligo. Except of pain, erythema, and itching after procedure, significant complications not occurred in most patients.

Infrared thermography (IRT) is a noninvasive and safe method of displaying the temperature map of objects that can be used to detect hoof diseases and lameness to reduce significant financial costs and physically stress animals. A qualitative bibliometric method based on the analysis of publications by the authors themselves using sophisticated tools of scientific databases was applied in this work. This review presents the fundamentals of IRT as well as recent developments in IRT detection in dairy science, including preprocessing, segmentation, and classification of objects in IRT images. In addition, recent studies dealing with the detection of hoof diseases and lameness using IRT are reviewed. As a result of this study, select previous studies are confronted in terms of technical aspects of IRT measurements such as emissivity, distance, temperature range, and reflected air temperature. Subsequently, recommendations for future IRT measurements are discussed.

Abstract Background In patients who have undergone head and neck surgery and received radiotherapy, airway management presents serious difficulties for the anesthesiologist. Case presentation We report a case of a 23-year-old male patient undergoing an emergency operation due to a rhabdomyosarcoma pressed spinal cord that loss of muscle strength and loss of sensation developed below the level of thoracal 6–7 vertebrae. Because of the previous radiotherapy reducing the mouth opening (less than 1 cm), the patient was intubated by transorbital pathway without any difficulty. Conclusions Transorbital intubation seems to be a safe method and may be a good alternative to difficult airway in the patient undergoing orbital exenteration.

Abstract The apples of Red Delicious are round fruits that have red colour when ripe according to which they are named. They can be eaten fresh, but also can be processed into a variety of processed products including apple juice. In order to grow or obtain better yield of a good quality apples, pesticides are usually used to protect apple trees, but they can adversely affect human health, therefore, some precautions should be taken when these chemicals are used as food contact materials. This study summarizes the presence of chlorpyrifos pesticide residues in apples that are prepared by different methods including mechanical treatments, fresh, washed, peeled as well as heat treatment of apples when prepared into an apple juice. For this purpose, the QuEChERS (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged and Safe) method was used for residue extraction in apple samples after different methods of preparation, and their analyses were performed by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). The concentration of the pesticide chlorpyrifos in different samples of apples was in the range of less than 0.0005 mg.kg−1 to 0.00348 mg.kg−1. This study provides a conclusion that all samples of apples are safe for consumption while the peeling method and heat treatment are the most efficient in reduction of chlorpyrifos content in the final products.

Purpose To describe a novel technique in unfolding an endothelium-in Descemet membrane (DM) graft. Methods New surgical technique description Results We describe a novel technique that allows immediate and controlled unfolding of the endothelium-in Descemet membrane graft that was successful in 5 of our DMEK patients. It is essential to acquire this “side press-and-release” technique when the graft does not unfold spontaneously as expected. Conclusions This controlled and simple manoeuvre is an efficient and safe method of unfolding an endothelium-in DM graft.
