A comprehensive analysis of eleven break monsoon situations that occurred during the period 1987 to 1997 have been attempted in the study. The various features like daily rainfall departures, wind anomalies and the satellite derived Outgoing Long wave Radiation (OLR) associated with the commencement/cessation of the break monsoon condition are studied with a view to identifying the precursors associate the break situation. The results reveal that there is progressive decrease  of below normal rainfall departures 5 days prior to the actual break day in the latitude belts south of 20° N. During the period of the revival of the monsoon, the time section of the daily rainfall departures shows that the daily rainfall departure first starts becoming above normal in the southern most latitudinal belt 5° N to 10°N from the second day onwards after the cessation of the break. Similarly, the easterly anomalies in the zonal wind are first noticed in the southern latitude even 5 days prior to the starting of the break in the lower and middle troposphere. The maximum easterly anomalies in the lower and the middle troposphere move northwards upto 20° N. The composite latitudinal time section of OLR anomaly show a large area of negative OLR anomaly extending from 20°S to 10°N. The area is defined as the Southern. Hemispheric Convective Zone ( SHCZ). The negative OLR anomaly (10 Wm-2 is noticed around 5° S to 0° N. It increases to 20 Wm-2 on the second day of the break on the same latitudinal belt. The daily OLR anomaly pattern shows that the area of the negative OLR anomaly around the equatorial region increases with the approach of a break epoch. The forecasting aspects of the commencement / cessation of the break have been also discussed.

The efficiency of an agricultural car or tractor depends on the characteristics of the engine determined by the gas distribution mechanism (GRM). Traditional timing with fixed valve timing does not provide high-quality gas exchange at all engine operating modes. The aim of the work is to improve the characteristics of the engine by using the hydraulic drive of the timing valves. The drive allows you to turn off individual valves, set the moments of their opening and closing in an arbitrary way, provide several triggering of the internal combustion engine valves during the operating cycle. The drive is controlled by an electronic control unit (ECU). The advantage of the drive is its ease of integration into the internal combustion engine. The hydraulic drive ensures that the timing valves are lifted to a height of about 14 mm. The law of displacement of the valve, revealed experimentally, is close to trapezoidal. The use of a hydraulic valve drive has a positive effect on the "time-section" factor in the area of low and medium crankshaft rotational speeds. The increment of the factor "time-section" is due to the significant speeds of opening and closing the valves. Due to the peculiarities of the kinematic characteristics of the movement of the valves when using a hydraulic drive for their movement, the use of serial phases of gas distribution of the engine is impractical. Numerical modeling of the operation of the internal combustion engine determined the regularity of the change in valve timing from the high-speed operating mode of the engine. Optimization criterion is the achievement of maximum engine power. When choosing the valve timing, the possibility of meeting the intake and exhaust valves with the engine piston was excluded. The use of optimal phases leads to an increase in power up to 4.5% at a low crankshaft speed. With an increase in the speed mode, the increase in power decreases, and with a high frequency of rotation of the crankshaft, its slight decrease (1.4%) is observed. An increase in torque, up to a power utilization factor of 0.9, and its subsequent decrease, allow stabilizing the vehicle speed on a road with variable resistance. An increase in the working pressure in the hydraulic drive of the valves makes it possible to intensify gas exchange even at a high speed of rotation of the crankshaft

The present study deals with the term of history linguistically and terminologically from Arab and Western Europe. This term is radically intertwined between East and West, specifically the Greek language. The present study covers the views of ancient historians and modernists as much as possible to have a clear idea of the topic. Section two is devoted to answering the important question of whether history is a science or an art by presenting most of the opinions that have been put forward in this regard, whether by Western or Arab historians to ultimately reach a comprehensive, complete, and final answer, at least until present time. Section three is related to the science of history for Muslims and its impact on the science of history in the West. Rosenthal’s opinion, which reflects the views of the majority of orientalists will be explained to respond to it showing evidence of the extent of this influence and how it was the initiation step and the most influential catalyst for the intellectual renaissance of Europe in general and in historical writing in particular.

Abstract Among the allowed representations of extended supersymmetry in six dimensions there are exotic chiral multiplets that, instead of a graviton, contain mixed-symmetry spin-2 tensor fields. Notably, an $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = (4, 0) multiplet has a four index exotic graviton and it was conjectured that an interacting theory based on this multiplet could arise as a strong coupling limit of M theory compactified on T6. We present an algebraic study of these multiplets and their possible embedding into the framework of exceptional field theory, finding in particular that the six-dimensional momenta do not correspond to a conventional space-time section. When compactified on a circle, the six-dimensional multiplets give rise to the same degrees of freedom as five-dimensional supergravity theories with the same number of supersymmetries. However, by considering anomalies (computed using the product multiplets construction) and the generation of Chern-Simons couplings, we find reason to doubt that their dynamics will agree with the five-dimensional gravity theories. We propose an alternative picture, similar to F-theory, in which particular fixed-volume T3-fibered space-times play a central role, suggesting that only on compactification to three-dimensions will one make contact with the dynamics of supergravity.

This chapter assesses Article XXIV of the Colorado Constitution, which provides for old age pensions. A 1936 citizens’ initiative added the article to set up the Old Age Pension Fund in the state treasury and entitle the fund to specified revenues. A 1956 initiative amended the article to raise pension revenues, increase pensions, and add a health and medical care fund. It also allows surplus revenue to be used for other purposes. Section 3 sets qualifications for entitlement to a pension. Litigation and statutes have changed eligibility rules over time. Section 6 defines pension amounts, reduced by other retirement or pension income. In practice, because of availability of other pensions, the system has operated with surpluses paid into the general fund.

Chapter 2 argues that Descartes’ physics is compatible with the Thomistic theory of divine concurrence. Descartes holds that God preserves bodies in existence, continually recreating them in different positions over time. Section 2.1 argues that it follows that (on Descartes’ view) God causes all the motions that occur in the world. Some of Descartes’ interpreters take Descartes’ physics to imply that mere bodies do not have any motive force or power, that is, any ability either to move themselves, or to cause motion in other bodies. Descartes’ physics thus seems to imply body–body occasionalism. Yet sections 2.2 and 2.3 show that Descartes is not committed to this conclusion. Instead, section 2.3 argues that Descartes thinks that bodies are “secondary causes” of motion that have active causal powers. Section 2.4 shows how this concurrentist reading of Descartes’ physics is consistent with his conception of body as extended substance.

Abstract. Aiming at the problems existing on the expression of atmospheric pollution dispersion, a data model of state-oriented and object-oriented hybrid modeling is designed. The model supports true three-dimensional grid representation and cellular automata deduction, and can combine the calculation and deduction of atmospheric pollution to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the model. The simulation experiments of single source and multi-source pollutants are carried out. The results show that: the model conforms to the diffusion law of atmospheric pollution. The pollutant concentration at any time, section or space in the whole diffusion process can be calculated and expressed dynamically, which improves the accuracy, rapidity, intuitiveness and analysation of the deduction of atmospheric pollutant diffusion process.

Background. Due to long-hour outdoor working environment, policemen have been subjected to tremendous health risks including blood pressure (BP) and heart rate (HR). In tropical countries, the temperature is extremely harsh which may get peak at above 40 Celsius degrees or drops under 8 Celsius degrees. However, the existing data on the effects of weather variation on BP and HR among police task force has been scarce in Vietnam. Aims. This study aimed to describe the variation of 24-hour BP and HR and identify factors associated with BP and HR for further appropriate interventions in order to reduce health risks from occupational exposure. Methods. Multilevel regression analysis (MLRA) was applied with two levels of influent factors. 24-hour holter measured systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), and HR values were the first level which should then be nested in the second level (individual). 24-hour temperature and humidity variations were extracted, respectively, from Hanoi Hydrometeorology Department. All individual characteristics and risk behaviours were measured within 24 studying hours. Results. Temperature and humidity were major factors that influenced (74%-78%) the variation of BP and HR among the policemen population. When each of the Celsius degree temperature or percentage humidity increases, the SBP goes down by 0.44 (0.11-0.77) and by 0.2 (0.33-0.77), respectively, and the DBP goes down by 0.21 (-0.05-0.48) and by 0.12 (0.02-0.22), respectively, and vice versa. Interaction between temperature and humidity was significantly influent to SBP. The farther the time section from the first time section (0-6AM) the more the variation of the BP and HR. Transition from winter to summer made SBP and DBP decrease and vice versa. Individual characteristics including body mass index (BMI), bad life styles, and stress contributed 22% to 26% to the variation of BP and HR. Traffic policemen were at the greatest risks of the outdoor ambient variation in comparison with the firefighters and office-based policemen. Conclusion. Designing and equipping appropriate uniform and outdoor facilities could help to reduce influence of temperature and humidity variation in the outdoor workplace. Besides, training and educating programs that aimed at controlling BMI, risk behaviours, and stress for police taskforce, especially the traffic policemen, should be implemented.
