This causes it to have the potential to transmit disease if disposable medical masks are reused. The problem in this study is focused on disposable medical mask waste that has not been handled properly from the government side, the community itself and future estimates if left continuously will cause the environment to become worse due to the risk of cross-contamination or biological hazards if polluting the environment. The research method used is literature review. The results of this study explain that the Village Health Volunteer approach can be a way between the government and the community to work together in dealing with health, in this case the handling of disposable medical mask waste. During this pandemic, the use of disposable medical masks by the public has increased so that the waste of disposable medical masks has increased and the risk of cross-contamination or biological hazards by disposable medical mask waste has increased healthy.

PurposeThe purpose of this study was to investigate the provincial-level systems and mechanisms to develop health volunteers to improve the health of the immigrant workforce in Thailand.Design/methodology/approachThis qualitative study obtained data from document research, in-depth interviews with 58 people involved at policy and provincial levels working to develop health volunteers to improve the health of the immigrant workforce. Data were collected from May–October 2017; then the content of the conceptual framework was analyzed, the research objectives were examined and summary and induction analysis interpreted data from documents, observations and interviews.FindingsThailand has four systems for developing health volunteers to improve the health of the immigrant workforce: recruitment, training and knowledge management, welfare and motivational and financial and other supportive resources. Development is driven through the mechanisms of the Provincial Public Health Office with Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and network partners. The health volunteer development exhibits two patterns: developing migrant workers to become migrant health volunteers and developing village health volunteers to perform health care for the immigrant workforce. All development patterns mainly rely upon the regular operating budget, which is often inadequate. Frequently, some provinces make attempts to seek other funding sources. In fact, health volunteer development is subjected to local authorities of the four provinces whose systems and mechanisms of development differ from one another.Originality/valueThe findings from this study could help develop health volunteers to significantly improve the health of the immigrant workforce in the Thai health service system.

Tuberculosis (TB) is still one of the main infectious diseases in Indonesia. The national program, Directly Observed Treatment short course (DOTS), that began in 2014 is unable to deal with TB cases comprehensively. The community has an important role in TB management because they directly intersect with patients and public health. The aim of this study is to explore the condition of the TB management program. A descriptive qualitative study was conducted in three sub-districts with high cases of TB. A semi-structured interview was conducted with 25 participants drawn from the suburban TB task force, community health volunteer groups, Community health Nurses, and subdistrict officers. Results reveal four themes which affect the implementation of TB management programmes: volunteer shortage, do for humanitarian intention, the myth and stigma, providing social and economic support. In conclusion, communitybased TB management needs to be improve in the availability of budget, staff, training and resources while maintaining the ongoing work of the TB task force team.   Keywords: Community-based management, Community Health Volunteer, Descriptive Qualitative, Humanitarian Intention, Social support, TB.

Background: The goal of global environmental health is to increase health literacy. The elder is the group that has lower health literacy. The health volunteers can support them to improve this aspect. Objective: To develop an environmental health literacy (EHL) scale and examine a causal relationship model of environmental management behavior (EMB). Materials and Methods: The cross-sectional study of 454 village health volunteers that were selected by a quota cluster random sampling. Data were collected through the five points Likert rating scale questionnaire. A confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and a structural equation model (SEM) were conducted by LISREL software. Results: The quality assessment of the EHL consisted of 25 items and four key components. Those components are accessible, understanding, assessment, and decision-making. The EHL has a high acceptable reliability (alpha=0.91 to 0.93), validity (IOC 0.80 to 1.00), and factor loading (0.50 to 0.84). The EHL measurement model on the development and validation sample fit the empirical data. All factors can explain EHL and EMB of total sample with variance of 80% and 69%, respectively. The environmental literacy (EL) directly influenced EHL (beta=0.90), EL, and EHL directly, which influenced awareness of environmental management for the elder (beta=0.35 and 0.28, respectively). Additionally, EHL and awareness of environmental management directly influenced EMB towards the homebound and bedbound elder (beta=0.34 and 0.59, respectively) at significance level of 0.05. Conclusion: The EHL scale should be used to encourage EMB towards the homebound and bedbound elder among village health volunteers. Knowledge of important basic living rocks is given to students in addition to health. Suggestions for increasing knowledge and training on basic life support with the aim of numbers helps to reduce mortality
