This study aims to identify the categories of motivation and appropriate stimulants for the RSD Mangusada staffs in learning English. This research is a qualitative research with method of collecting data using questionnaire distributed to 50 staff of RSD Mangusada from various divisions. The questionnaire contains closed questions that are filled out using Likert’s scale. The data in this study were analyzed descriptive-qualitatively by describing the categories of motivation in learning English. The results of the data analysis show that there are five categories of single dominant motivation and three categories of combined dominant motivation possessed by the staff of Mangusada Badung Hospital in learning English, those are intrinsic dominant motivation category, extrinsic dominant, integrative dominant, instrumental dominant, amotivation dominant, intrinsic- integrative dominant, intrinsic-instrumental dominant and extrinsic-instrumental dominant. Based on the results of the data analysis, it can be concluded that the main factor which encourages Mangusada Hospital staffs to learn English is only limited to the desire to fulfill practical needs, such as the desire to get a better job and/or to get a higher income. The desire to fulfill this practical need arises both from within the learners and from the environment. Thus, if RSD Mangusada needs to improve the English competence of all its staff in order to improve services, pragmatic stimulants is needed in order to get an optimal result.

To increase profits for companies, a highly motivated workforce is needed, profit will increase if supported by good work productivity of workers. The achievement of these objectives depends on the policies adopted by the company. But on the other hand, the work productivity of workers decreases, this is due to low work motivation and the relative compensation of only enough for the basic needs of the lives of workers, this results in targeted production not being achieved according to targets set by the company, as for the goals. This study aims to determine (1) compensation provided by PT. Necis Indah Cemerlang Bandung, (2) motivation of workers at PT. Necis Indah Cemerlang Bandung, (3) work productivity at PT. Necis Indah Cemerlang Bandung, and (4) the effect of compensation and motivation both jointly and individually on work productivity at PT. Necis Indah Cemerlang Bandung. The method used is descriptive and expansive survey method of the analysis unit of the workers of PT. Necis Indah Cemerlang Bandung. Sampling using a random sampling method and simple with a sample of (n) 85 workers. The type of investigation into this study is causality, and the time horizon in this study is cross-sectional and the analytical method used is frequency distribution and path analysis. The findings of this study are compensation and motivation both jointly and individually influencing work productivity workers at PT. Abstract This paper explores how general practitioners (GPs) address potentially opposing motivations stemming from being altruistic and self-interested, and the implications for patients and GPs. The author finds that GPs address dual goals of patient care and profit generation. This can be challenging, while professional values (altruism) encourage a patient focus, business realities (self-interest) mandate other priorities. Viewing clinicians as altruistic in isolation of business needs is unrealistic, as is the notion that profit is the dominant motivation. A blending of interests occurs, pursuing reasonable self-interest, patients’ best interests are ultimately met. GPs need a profit focus to sustain/improve the practice, benefitting patients through continued availability and capacity for enhancement. Therefore, it is argued that GPs behave in a manner that is ‘part altruistic, part self-interested’ and mutually beneficial. These insights should be considered in designing incentive systems for GPs, raising compelling questions about contemporary understanding of the nature of professionals.

AbstractThis study seeks to frame the rationale of land acquisition by explicating on the market conditions necessitating the suspension of consensual exchanges in favor of the use of coercion to meet the land supply requirements of a project, and then examines the reasoning governing the use of the acquisition legislation in India. It has been argued that the law of land acquisition, by terminating the right of the seller to negotiate the conditions of the exchange and by forcibly re-allocating the land to the other party, can help in easing out land transactions only in conditions where the inordinate bargaining power of the seller, possessing the non-substitutable unit of land, is the source of the obstacles at the stage of bargaining. In Indian context, however, it is observed that the application of the land acquisition act does not fit into the economic rationale of the acquisition law as a law to correct for the specific type of land supply constraints associated with non-substitutability; rather, the concern of availing the low cost supply of land appeared to be the dominant motivation guiding the use of acquisitions.

Researches on the grammaticalization of Chinese characters “Ji” mainly focus on motivation, but it does not involve the specific process. Traugott, an expert on grammaticalization, has put forward a theoretical hypothesis about the direction of grammaticalization. Based on this hypothesis and the Chinese corpus, this paper studies the process and motivation of grammaticalization of Chinese characters “Ji” from the diachronic perspective. It is found that the grammaticalization process of “Ji” has three stages: ideational function stage, textual function stage and interpersonal function stage, but it is against the theoretical assumption put forward by Traugott. Meanwhile, subjectification runs through the whole process of grammaticalization. Generalization, metaphor, re-analysis and analogy are only the dominant motivation in a particular stage of its grammaticalization process.
