Considering that more than half of the world’s population today lives in cities and consumes about 80% of the world’s energy and that there is a problem with drinking water supply, this paper presents a way to solve the problem of the sustainability of cities by enabling their complete independence from external sources of energy and drinking water. The proposed solution entails the use of Seawater Steam Engine (SSE) technology to supply cities with electricity, thermal energy and drinking water. The system would involve the seasonal storage of electricity and thermal energy, supported by geothermal heat pumps. The strategy of the distribution network would be based on the original concept of the “loop”. In cities that do not have enough space, SSE collectors would be placed above the lower parts of the city like “canopies”. The city of Zagreb (Croatia) was selected as a case study due to its size, climate and vulnerability to natural disasters. The results show that Zagreb could become sustainable in 30 years with the allocation of less than 2% of GDP and could become a paradigm of sustainability for cities worldwide. This paper encourages the development of the “Philosophy of Sustainability” because the stated goals cannot be achieved without a change in consciousness.

Concepts such as freedom cannot be measured and give material measurable results. Freedom is not measured. It leaves its philosophical imprint on independent thought. According to Jean-Jacques Rousseau (Note 1), it recedes only to leave room for political freedom The supposed absolute freedom based on the quantity of material goods and choices actually leads to the commitment of individualism. Because it is difficult to change this relationship between materialism and individualism, we focus on philosophical freedom through self-knowledge that will answer the triple question (1) what is best for me, (2) what is best for you, (3) what is best for community in which we negotiate a win-win-win reasoning for everyone who negotiates with another in the community Thus arises a win-win-win inner freedom with an immeasurable result, which at its limit is identified with the complete independence of the soul and the spirit.

The family is the first and basic institution among the various responsible social institutions for preparing the child to enter social life, to be a good and effective element in its maintenance on the basis of righteousness, goodness and effective construction. It is the starting point that affects all stages of life, positively and negatively. The first is the marital relationship through birth, nursery, pre-puberty and ending with complete independence after the self-reliance. Childhood took a large part in the Hadiths of the Messenger of God, and the scholars of Hadith who unanimously agreed on the honorable Sunnah of the Prophet took care of this aspect, and they did not neglect the provisions and manners related to the child in all of their books in the field of Hadith. We will follow in this study, the method of children's education, which was mentioned by the hadiths of the Noble Prophet. The Messenger of God, gave the birth of a child a dignified care, for he birth of a child is not an ordinary matter that passes without attention. It is the right of the newborn baby to be called and choose a good name for him, to remove the harm from him, to be tender, to be called upon, to bless him, to teach him and to watch him, and to treat him.

Abstract Purpose: Current training interventions assessing pediatric functional motor skills do not account for children with upper limb reductions who utilize a prosthetic device. It was hypothesized that a newly created 8-week Home Intervention program will result in significant improvements in gross manual dexterity, bimanual coordination, and the functional activities performed during the program. It was also hypothesized that the newly developed Prosthesis Measurement of Independent Function (PMIF) score will reflect the Home Intervention performance improvements. Methods: Five pediatric participants (ages 5-19 years) with congenital upper limb reductions were fitted with a 3D printed upper extremity prosthesis for their affected limb. Participants then completed the 8-week Home Intervention which included Training activities completed 2x/week for 8 weeks and Non-Training activities completed only at week 1 and week 8. Participant’s times were recorded along with each participant receiving a PMIF score ranging from 0 = unable to complete activity, to 7 = complete independence with activity completion. Results: Results showed a decrease in overall averaged activity times amongst all activities. For all activities performed, individual averaged time decreased with the exception of Ball Play which increased over the 8 week intervention period. There was significant interaction for home intervention performance with F = 2.904 (p = 0.003). All participants increased their PMIF scores to 7 (complete independence) at the end of the 8 week intervention period. Conclusion: Decreases in time averages and increases in PMIF scores quantitatively showed that the home intervention program facilitate improvements in function and independence.

This article is concerned with the image of Yahweh as portrayed in Amos 4:13, 5:8-9 and 9:5-6. It argues that Yahweh is portrayed as Creator, Lord of creation, all-powerful, all-knowing, transcendent, and immanent and emphasizes his unique creative skills in bringing into being all natural existence in complete independence. It also demonstrates Yahweh's sovereign freedom in controlling the cosmos and indicates that all in the universe is dependent upon him and is subject to his authority. For not only has he created all that there is, he continues to renew and sustain the entire creation. For the author, then, Yahweh owns the cosmos and has the power to rule all creation by summoning, sustaining, governing, and using the forces of nature for his purposes. This sets him over the nations and creation as Lord and gives him the right to claim the worship of all people, as he confers on all creation his own protection. This also becomes an appropriate foundation for understanding the message of divine judgment against the nations in Amos 1:3–2:16.

Adam Zagajewski’s poetry proves how complex man’s relationship with the sacred can be. Despite the poet’s testimony of complete independence from established formations, including denominational ones, in his early work, when he described himself as “an atheist of both churches, non-partisan among party members, an unbeliever among believers, uncertain among the convinced” (Mogę mówić tylko za siebie [I can only speak for myself]; Oda do wielości [Ode to multiplicity], Zagajewski 1983), literary criticism has long emphasized the presence of a broadly conceived sphere of the sacred in his poetry. When reading Zagajewski’s poems, one has the impression that the sacred is permanently present, and that the poet is constantly brushing against the figure of the Absolute, while not being able (or sometimes not wanting) to fully see it. The reader even gets the impression that perhaps this may be a purposeful impossibility. For Zagajewski, an extremely important theme is circular movement, constant circling around the same issue, and a need for constant questioning. This article discusses these complex relations, proving that Zagajewski consistently reflects in on the figure of the Absolute, that the subject of his poems seeks the sacred, and that the question of the Absolute seems to be more than a poetic strategy for the author, but also a very personal dilemma. The poet died on March 21, 2021.

AbstractCorneal inlays (CIs) are the most recent surgical procedure for the treatment of presbyopia in patients who want complete independence from the use of glasses or contact lenses. Although refractive surgery in presbyopic patients is mostly performed in combination with cataract surgery, when the implantation of an intraocular lens is not necessary, the option of CIs has the advantage of being minimally invasive. Current designs of CIs are, either: small aperture devices, or refractive devices, however, both methods do not have good performance simultaneously at intermediate and near distances in eyes that are unable to accommodate. In the present study, we propose the first design of a trifocal CI, allowing good vision, at the same time, at far, intermediate and near vision in presbyopic eyes. We first demonstrate the good performance of the new inlay in comparison with a commercially available CI by using optical design software. We next confirm experimentally the image forming capabilities of our proposal employing an adaptive optics based optical simulator. This new design also has a number of parameters that can be varied to make personalized trifocal CI, opening up a new avenue for the treatment of presbyopia.

Background: In many studies, patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) who undergoing Hemodialysis (HD) have been evident to have low levels of physical functioning as well as difficulty performing activities of daily living (ADL) compared to the healthy population. This study aims to describe the activities of daily living performance among CKD patients with HD. Methods: Subjects were 42 CKD outpatients (27 men, 15 women; mean age 50 ± SD=9,49) undergoing maintenance HD one to two times a week. This study employed a cross-sectional descriptive study design. Data were collected from September to October 2020 in Setia Mitra Hospital, Jakarta, Indonesia. Assessment of Activity Daily Living (ADL) was administered using the Katz Index.Result: In this study, we assessed six items of patient’s functional status including bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, continence, and feeding. The majority of participants (33 people, 79%) had complete independence in performing activities of daily living. However, there were 9 participants (21%) who still need assistance in performing activities of daily living. Conclusion: Although this study found that most participants did not have difficulty in ADL, some participants reported that they needed assistance while performing ADL. Physiotherapy is an important element in the management of CKD patients with HD. The physiotherapy program can help to improve patient’s health, independence in carrying out activities of daily living, reduce stress and depression, improve self-esteem as well as quality of life.

This paper is an introduction to William James' philosophy of mind and is intended to prepare the reader for his work “How Two Minds Can Know One Thing”. The views of William James on three topics in the philosophy of mind are considered: panpsychism, neutral monism, and combination problem. There is a very deep connection between the modern analytical philosophy of mind and the philosophy of this author. A variety of neutral monism, to which James adhered, is analyzed, including the problem of neutrality of substance. Neutral monism in practice does not provide complete independence of a substance from mental and physical properties, and therefore neutral monism may tend to panpsychism if we are not talking about its idealistic varieties. The author concerns the relationship between panpsychism and neutral monism as two approaches to the combination problem. James's panpsychism is analyzed in terms of modern classification. Paper selectively considers individual episodes in James's philosophy in which he adhered to such panpsychism varieties as panexperientialism and panqualityism. The following is a question of the influence of James's combination problem on his philosophy as well as on modern analytical philosophy of mind. At different periods of time, James took, at first glance, mutually exclusive viewpoints on these issues. It is shown that the analysis of James's concept, taking into account the modern development of panpsychism, allows seeing an additional internal consistency in his systematic consideration of the phenomenon of consciousness.
