Abstract Timepix4 is a 24.7 × 30.0 mm2 hybrid pixel detector readout ASIC which has been designed to permit detector tiling on 4 sides. It consists of 448 × 512 pixels which can be bump bonded to a sensor with square pixels at a pitch of 55 µm. Like its predecessor, Timepix3, it can operate in data driven mode sending out information (Time of Arrival, ToA and Time over Threshold, ToT) only when a pixel has a hit above a pre-defined and programmable threshold. In this mode hits can be tagged to a time bin of <200 ps and Timepix4 can record hits correctly at incoming rates of ∼3.6 MHz/mm2/s. In photon counting (or frame-based) mode it can count incoming hits at rates of up to 5 GHz/mm2/s. In both modes data is output via between 2 and 16 serializers each running at a programmable data bandwidth of between 40 Mbps and 10 Gbps. The specifications, architecture and circuit implementation are described along with first electrical measurements and measurements with radioactive sources. In photon counting mode X-ray images have been taken at a threshold of 650 e− (with <10 masked pixels). In data driven mode images were taken of ToA/ToT data using a 90Sr source at a threshold of 800 e− (with ∼120 masked pixels).

According to Mayan cosmology, the law of time is represented as the energy factored by time equals to art. Time is a form of biological information. Time in-forms life, in such a way that life forms processes time as information and externalize it specific forms into the three-dimensional world, then time is the principle ordering of life. Indeed, everything in the natural order of the cosmos is beauty and harmony. All life forms on planet earth have their phases of morphological development, this is real even in the social structure of communities of living beings that also may have an aesthetic or artistic quality. This form and measurements of all things constitutes the entire or holistic order of the universe. So, if life is it nothing more than better-informed matter, where does this information come from? Socrates and Platon held that nothing in nature and in the world can be explained by random or chance, as Democritus would have argued, that nature creations occur because they have a Purpose. According to Platon, the natural world is a designer’s result demiurge or a universal consciousness that sets everything in the best possible place. So, if there is a start point where intelligence creates order, where there is order, there is purpose so; what is the purpose then? This work tends to give an answer and show a different perspective of living, studying and understanding (micro)biological phenomena in order to become conscious and assume that Nature is infinitely more powerful than us, the Whole is more than the sum of parts, we are part of it.

Abstract Aim The COVID-19 pandemic is an evolving healthcare challenge introducing greater burden on existing resources. With 1,100 people in Northern Ireland diagnosed with colorectal cancer (CRC) per annum, concerns over disruption of cancer services and secondary consequences have been highlighted. We aim to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on the CRC red flag pathway in comparison to the pre-COVID era. Methods Two comparative data sets were compiled through retrospective analysis of red-flag colorectal referrals over a 3-month period for both April to June 2019 and 2020. A comprehensive review of each patient’s electronic care record and medical notes was completed. Patient demographics, co-morbidity, referral information, time to hospital appointment and investigation modality were documented. For patients identified with CRC the stage and time to first definitive treatment was documented. Results A total of 47 CRCs were identified from both red-flag referral groups; 25 CRCs 2019 compared to 22 in 2020. Median age at time of referral was 79 years in 2019 compared to 71 years in 2020. Time to outpatient review was significantly less during 2020 compared to 2019; 16 days and 31 days respectively (p &lt; 0.05). Time to first treatment was 103 days 2019 compared to 75 days 2020 (p &lt; 0.05). Advanced diagnostic stage or increased number of emergency hospital presentations in the COVID-19 period was not demonstrated. Conclusion Despite disruption of established colorectal cancer services during the COVID-19 pandemic, we demonstrated patients waited less time to outpatient review and intervention. With comparative cases of CRC to the pre-COVID era diagnosed.

Communities frequently treated as ‘have-nots’ in higher education are a window into the condition of postsecondary education access, exclusion, inequities, and outcomes. This reality is no more evident than with the college-going trajectories of low-income single mothers of color. Evoking the possibilities of narrative inquiry in general, and life history method in particular, the author explores the college-going ecology, decisions, and trajectory of a 35-year-old low-income Filipina single mother. Through this empirical undertaking, particular attention is paid to the challenges present within the informant’s context of information, time, and opportunity—the three dimensions of the Iloh Model of College-Going Decisions and Trajectories. Findings of this narrative include prolonged and disjointed experiences; poor navigational structures and asymmetries of information; and institutional constraints, barriers, and disregard. In addition to insights that reflect decision-making challenges and buyer’s remorse of minoritized students; this study situates new directions for addressing concerning contexts of time, information, and opportunity for single mothers pursuing college.

As a reflection of shifting and fluid experiences in time and space, live streaming can reduce losses in the tourism industry associated with travel restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Compared with the use of live streaming activities in entertainment, shopping, sport, e-sport, religious, educational, and academic settings, the tourism context has yet to be explored. This study takes China as a case to examine tourism practices related to live streaming. Specifically, 48,114 social media posts were subjected to systematic content analysis. The dataset contained live streaming content related to 147 countries and 34 Chinese provincial administrative regions between 2010 and 2021. Findings revealed the following: (1) the development of tourism live streaming in China can be classified into germination, exploration, and opportunity stages; (2) live content mainly evoked positive emotions, whereas negative sentiment resulted from illegal or boring content; (3) users’ perceptions of tourism live streaming content involved institutions, live streaming tools, live streaming attractions, the live streaming economy, people, facilities and information, time, and regions; and (4) live streaming tools and attractions constituted the core of the identified semantic network and had the strongest regulation capabilities in tourism live streaming activities. Findings shed light on latent cultural meanings in social media communications, where tourism live streaming features high-frequency linguistic signs.

We apply topological data analysis, specifically the Mapper algorithm, to the U.S. COVID-19 data. The resulting Mapper graphs provide visualizations of the pandemic that are more complete than those supplied by other, more standard methods. They allow for easy comparisons of the features of the pandemic across time and space and encode a variety of geometric features of the data cloud created from geographic information, time progression, and the number of COVID-19 cases. The Mapper graphs reflect the development of the pandemic across all of the U.S. and capture the growth rates as well as the regional prominence of hot-spots.

TPS5601 Background: Low-grade serous carcinoma of the ovary or peritoneum (LGSOC) is a rare subtype of epithelial carcinoma. Differences in epidemiology, pathogenesis, disease presentation, and clinical outcomes have been characterized between women diagnosed with LGSOC and those with the p53-driven high-grade serous carcinoma (HGSOC). Ultimately, patients with LGSOC should be treated differently than those with HGSOC. Several studies suggest that LGSOC is relatively chemoresistant and that most tumors robustly express estrogen and progesterone receptors. Recently, retrospective reports suggest that utilization of the aromatase inhibitor, letrozole, as monotherapy or in addition to platinum/taxane-based chemotherapy in those with primary advanced-stage LGSOC results in preliminarily promising survival outcomes. Methods: This study is a two-arm, randomized, open-label, Phase III clinical trial. The primary objective is to assess whether letrozole monotherapy (2.5 mg po daily) is non-inferior to carboplatin (AUC 5-6) and paclitaxel (175 mg/m2) followed by letrozole maintenance therapy with respect to progression free survival in women with primary, Stage II-IV LGSOC who have undergone an attempt at maximal surgical cytoreduction. Secondary endpoints include incidence of adverse events, objective response rate in those with measurable disease after surgery, response duration, overall survival, and adherence to letrozole maintenance therapy. Study subjects must have undergone a bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, and p53 IHC testing of tumors is required to rule out those with aberrant p53 expression commonly observed in HGSOC tumors. Study strata include residual disease status and country of enrollment. Four hundred and fifty patients will be enrolled in the United States, Canada and South Korea through the NRG Oncology trials network. Correlative aims include analyzing the association of ER/PR tumoral expression with aromatase inhibitor therapy response and determining ESR1 mutational status in those who develop letrozole resistance. The study includes two interim analyses; at 20% information time, a futility analysis will be conducted, and at 40% information time, both efficacy and futility will be assessed. This is one of the first randomized trials performed in women with primary, advanced LGSOC, and the study is open with 71 patients enrolled at the time of abstract submission. <abstract> <p>Hybrid EEG-fNIRS brain-computer interface (HBCI) is widely employed to enhance BCI performance. EEG and fNIRS signals are combined to increase the dimensionality of the information. Time windows are used to select EEG and fNIRS singles synchronously. However, it ignores that specific modal signals have their own characteristics, when the task is stimulated, the information between the modalities will mismatch at the moment, which has a significant impact on the classification performance. Here we propose a novel crossing time windows optimization for mental arithmetic (MA) based BCI. The EEG and fNIRS signals were segmented separately by sliding time windows. Then crossing time windows (CTW) were combined with each one segment from EEG and fNIRS selected independently. Furthermore, EEG and fNIRS features were extracted using Filter Bank Common Spatial Pattern (FBCSP) and statistical methods from each sample. Mutual information was calculated for FBCSP and statistical features to characterize the discrimination of crossing time windows, and the optimal window would be selected based on the largest mutual information. Finally, a sparse structured framework of Fisher Lasso feature selection (FLFS) was designed to select the joint features, and conventional Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) was employed to perform classification. We used proposed method for a MA dataset. The classification accuracy of the proposed method is 92.52 ± 5.38% and higher than other methods, which shows the rationality and superiority of the proposed method.</p> </abstract>

The article discusses the theoretical and applied aspects, as well as prospects for the development of fingerprint examination, fingerprint records (automated fingerprint identification systems-AFIS) in the disclosure and uncovering of crimes, as well as biometric identification systems by fingerprints to protect personal data, control access to corporate and personal information, time tracking in the information sector of the economy. The paper presents methods form an ufacturing models with artificial papillary patterns (falsification of papillary patterns of fingerprints), the results of experiments that consisted in creating a model (dummy) of the nail phalanx of the finger with an artificial papillary pattern and verification of a biometric scanner using biometric technologies.
