At present, most of departments in colleges have their own official accounts, which have become the primary channel for announcements and news. In the official accounts, the popularity of articles is influenced by many different factors, such as the content of articles, the aesthetics of the layout, and so on. This paper mainly studies how to learn a computational model for predicting page view on college official accounts with quality-aware features extracted from pictures. First, we built a new picture database by collecting 1,000 pictures from the official accounts of nine well-known universities in the city of Beijing. Then, we proposed a new model for predicting page view by using a selective ensemble technology to fuse three sets of quality-aware features that could represent how a picture looks. Experimental results show that the proposed model has achieved competitive performance against state-of-the-art relevant models on the task for inferring page view from pictures on college official accounts.

The Surabaya City Government has built a box culvert in the Gunungsari Diversi channel for the Sememi segment to Banjar Sugihan and the Kandangan pump house. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the operational impact of the Kandangan pump on the Sememi box culvert capacity. Therefore, the Surabaya City Government built the Sememi box culvert as a long storage in the primary channel of the Gunungsari diversion in order to reduce inundation as well as function as a road that can overcome congestion in the area. The Surabaya City Government has also built a Kandangan pump house as an outlet rather than a long storage at the Gunungsari version. The reduction of inundation and congestion can increase the wheels of the economy which have a global impact on cities around Surabaya as well as a smoother access road for the people in West Surabaya to the middle of the city.

Senses are the primary channel by which travelers enjoy tourism, and the sensory experience of tourists is very important to the quality of their tourism experience. In this study, 385 questionnaires were distributed to tourists visiting the first batch of characteristic towns classified by the China National Forestry and Grassland Administration as national towns with forest characteristics. SPSS software was used for regression analysis to test the differences in the impact of sensory experience on the experience quality and future loyalty of forest town tourists. The results show that: (1) vision makes the highest contribution to the quality of tourist experience; (2) olfactory experience makes the lowest contribution to the quality of tourist experience and has no significant impact on it; (3) auditory experience has a significant impact on the quality of tourism experience but has no significant impact on the loyalty index. The study further confirms that, when a single sensory experience of tourists is insufficient, satisfaction can be achieved through the other senses. It is of great significance for forest town managers to design a sensory landscape according to the combined components of a destination’s characteristics and the tourists’ physical identities.

Political interest groups (PIGs) are formed by people having common goals and working their way to make their goals a realization. These groups play a crucial role in influencing the minds of the youth in their outlook about varies societal issues. As a way for the youth to be able to participate, these groups found a way to organize political interest group chapters within universities. The organization allow university students to be able to actively participate in conducted activities within their campuses. This study investigated the different political interest groups which are existing in the universities within Cebu City, Philippines. The study also endeavored to examine the different reasons why students are willing participate in these so-called political interest groups and the factors that drive them in joining, how these institutional chapters are recognized and monitored by their respective universities. The findings revealed that students who participated in political interest groups find them interesting and beneficial serving as primary channel to voice their opinions regarding crucial and current societal issues. Also, the universities give them permits to conduct fora and seminars inside the campus. Many students confirm that joining political interest groups bring them more benefits, hone their political interests. Finally, joining political interest groups foster and deepen university students’ social development, broaden their political horizons and bring about positive social change while nurturing students’ rational choices. <p> </p><p><strong> Article visualizations:</strong></p><p><img src="/-counters-/edu_01/0800/a.php" alt="Hit counter" /></p>

With social media becoming the primary channel for travelers to acquire travel-related information, tourism service providers are increasingly partnering with social media influencers (SMIs) as part of their digital marketing strategy. The present study investigates the effectiveness of SMIs by examining the role that two message factors—argument quality and sponsorship status—have on travelers’ perceptions of a hotel’s commitment to sustainability and their intention to stay at the hotel. Results from four studies show that when eco-friendly hotels sponsor SMIs, an attribute-value message is more effective than a simple recommendation message in influencing travelers’ perceptions and intentions. Given the latest Federal Trade Commission regulations regarding sponsorship disclosure practices, the findings offer valuable insights for tourism providers using SMIs. The study findings suggest that SMIs should create sponsored messages that provide rational and objective information about the hotel’s sustainability practices to stimulate travelers’ related cognitions and persuade them to patronize the hotel.

This paper demonstrates a numerical study on heat transfer characteristics of laminar flow in a double-layered oblique finned heat sink using nanofluids with Al2O3 nanoparticles. Microchannel heat sink with primary channel width of 0.5 mm with aspect ratio of 3 is employed. Instead of having conventional straight fins, oblique fins with narrow secondary channels are used. In this numerical study, single-phase fluid model with conjugate heat transfer is considered. The numerical modelling was first validated with existing data for double-layered conventional microchannel heat sink having water (base fluid) as the working fluid. Numerical investigations on oblique finned microchannel heat sink were then conducted for flow rates ranging from 3?10-7 to 15?10-7 m3/s, equivalent to primary channel inlet velocity in between 0.2 and 1.0 m/s. It was found that double-layered oblique finned configuration yields better heat transfer performance, inferred by the lower overall thermal resistance obtained as compared with that of double-layered conventional heat sink. Employing double-layered oblique finned heat sink, the heat transfer performance could be further enhanced, by using nanoparticles that are added into water-based fluid. It is found that the reduction of overall thermal resistance is proportional to the volume fraction of nanoparticles. Using cross flow double-layered oblique finned configuration, the largest reduction in the overall thermal resistance can reach up to 25%, by using nanofluids with 4% volume fraction of Al2O3 nanoparticles.

AbstractIn bacteria, transcription complexes stalled on DNA represent a major source of roadblocks for the DNA replication machinery that must be removed in order to prevent damaging collisions. Gram-positive bacteria contain a transcription factor HelD that is able to remove and recycle stalled complexes, but it was not known how it performed this function. Here, using single particle cryo-electron microscopy, we have determined the structures of Bacillus subtilis RNA polymerase (RNAP) elongation and HelD complexes, enabling analysis of the conformational changes that occur in RNAP driven by HelD interaction. HelD has a 2-armed structure which penetrates deep into the primary and secondary channels of RNA polymerase. One arm removes nucleic acids from the active site, and the other induces a large conformational change in the primary channel leading to removal and recycling of the stalled polymerase, representing a novel mechanism for recycling transcription complexes in bacteria.
