The aim is to demonstrate a variety of apoptotic heterophils (equivalents of mammalian neutrophils) occurring in hemograms of 50 apparently healthy pullets housed in cages. These atypical cells are found in blood with normal total white cell levels (TWBC, ~20K) and in those ranging up to 100(K) a leukocytosis/leukemoid reaction level. Conversely heterophil/lymphocyte (H/L) ratios in all hens ranged between 0.14 – 0.50 (homeostasis). The Arneth index (a heterophil age measure) of 1.8 computed using only intact heterophils indicated a “left-shift”, suggesting inflammation even in the context of a normal hemogram.

The quality of the data coded based on the 10th revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) can be improved by providing continuous education and promoting the clinical coders’ knowledge and skills. Due to the significance of maternal health in promoting the health of society, the present study evaluated the effects of an in-service training workshop on ICD-10 coding instructions of pregnancy, childbirth, and the puerperium for clinical coders. This applied evaluation study was conducted to evaluate the effects of a coding instructions training course focusing on the 15th chapter of the ICD-10. The statistical population comprised 45 clinical coders working in the hospitals. The data were collected by a researcher-made questionnaire scored on a five-point Likert scale at the reaction level and by pretest and posttest questionnaires at the learning level. The data were then analyzed by descriptive statistics at the reaction level and by a paired-samples t-test at the learning level. The participants’ satisfaction with the training course was 94.7% on average at the reaction level. At the learning level, the results of the paired-samples t-test showed a significant difference between the means of scores before and after the training course (p=0.000). The training course led to satisfaction and enhanced the capabilities of the clinical coders with regard to coding the 15th chapter of ICD-10. Clinical Coders must receive training on the new changes and guidelines in the other chapters of ICD-10 based on its most recent revision and employ them in the workplace.

Nanoparticle-reinforced polymer-based materials effectively combine the functional properties of polymers and unique characteristic features of NPs. Biopolymers have attained great attention, with perspective multifunctional and high-performance nanocomposites exhibiting a low environmental impact with unique properties, being abundantly available, renewable, and eco-friendly. Nanocomposites of biopolymers are termed green biocomposites. Different biocomposites are reported with numerous inorganic nanofillers, which include selenium. Selenium is a micronutrient that can potentially be used in the prevention and treatment of diseases and has been extensively studied for its biological activity. SeNPs have attracted increasing attention due to their high bioavailability, low toxicity, and novel therapeutic properties. One of the best routes to take advantage of SeNPs’ properties is by mixing these NPs with polymers to obtain nanocomposites with functionalities associated with the NPs together with the main characteristics of the polymer matrix. These nanocomposite materials have markedly improved properties achieved at low SeNP concentrations. Composites based on polysaccharides, including fungal beta-glucans, are bioactive, biocompatible, biodegradable, and have exhibited an innovative potential. Mushrooms meet certain obvious requirements for the green entity applied to the SeNP manufacturing. Fungal-matrixed selenium nanoparticles are a new promising biocomposite material. This review aims to give a summary of what is known by now about the mycosynthesized selenium polymeric nanocomposites with the impact on fungal-assisted manufactured ones, the mechanisms of the involved processes at the chemical reaction level, and problems and challenges posed in this area.

Platelet metabolism is linked to platelet hyper- and hypoactivity in numerous human diseases. Most studies of platelet metabolism use extracellular uptake and excretion measurements or metabolomics to infer metabolism changes but have not quantified the carbon flux through central metabolism. The reaction-level resolution is necessary to identify the major contributors to different platelet phenotypes. The goal of this study was to develop the metabolic flux map of resting and agonist activated platelets based on intracellular flux measurements of central metabolism. Isotopically nonstationary 13C metabolic flux analysis (INST-MFA) was used to measure metabolic fluxes in platelets from labeling profiles obtained with parallel glucose and acetate labeling experiments. Flux results show that resting platelets primarily metabolize glucose to lactate via glycolysis, while acetate is oxidized to fuel the tricarboxylic acid cycle. Upon activation with thrombin, a potent platelet agonist, global flux increases occur, and platelets display a metabolic shift toward glucose oxidation.

This article describes a program evaluation using Kirkpatrick’s four levels model. The program evaluation was conducted by studying 24 candidates for the Expert-Level Librarian training program at the National Library of Indonesia. This research uses a quantitative method to measure the level of the participants’ satisfaction level with the training and a qualitative method is used to gain deeper information through interviews. The results shows that on reaction level, 87.5% of participants have high level of satisfaction. The learning level shows an increase from the pre-test to the post-test results. In the third level, it was found that 100% of the participants received high scores. Finally, at the result level, it is shown that 87.5% of the participants received high scores. There are recommendations regarding 1) the lack of dormitories; 2) the learning process using information technology that needs to adapt to the characteristics participants; 3) training for the lecturers before actually lecturing the participants. Abstract: This study aims to observe the implementation of industrial training program using Kirkpatrick evaluation model which focuses on the human source development. This study utilizes the Kirkpatrick four-level training evaluation model consisting of reaction, learning, behaviour, and result. The subjects of this study are students of mechanical engineering program and a few of industrial training tutors in SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Kepanjen. This study used questionnaires, tests, and documentations as the instruments. The results shows that in the reaction level, the level of performance of the trained students using indicators such as facilities, material, instructors, time, and infrastructure are within the good category. The results of pre-test and post-test of the learning aspects—with the mean value of 61,83 and mean value of 80,83—show that there is significant change to the performance. From behaviour level, referring to tutor assessments using indicators such as communication proficiency, intellectuality, cognitive and motoric strategy, as well as student behaviours are also within the good category. Result shows mean value of 83,7 (> Minimum Criteria of Mastery Learning 75) thus resulting in good category. Keywords: Evaluation, Industrial Training, Kirkpatrick, Program Implementation, SMK

<div><div><div><p>Machine-learned ranking models have been developed for the prediction of substrate-specific cross-coupling reaction conditions. Datasets of published reactions were curated for Suzuki, Negishi, and C–N couplings, as well as Pauson–Khand reactions. String, descriptor, and graph encodings were tested as input representations, and models were trained to predict the set of conditions used in a reaction as a binary vector. Unique reagent dictionaries categorized by expert-crafted reaction roles were constructed for each dataset, leading to context-aware predictions. We find that relational graph convolutional networks and gradient-boosting machines are very effective for this learning task, and we disclose a novel reaction-level graph-attention operation in the top-performing model.</p></div></div></div>
