The modern era of competition and commercialization changed working patterns. Paradigm change of competitive global world has caused many challenges and conflicts arising as a result of an increased competition amongst industries. Business has become proactive, aggressive, and demanding in order to stand tall in this competition. Every industry requires workers to be actively involved and devote comprehensively, but specifically, tourism and hospitality requires an extra mile. Workload is different than other industries. Comprehensive view is given on the conditions of hospitality and tourism industry faces keeping up with the contemporary business environment of this sector and how this sector suffers due to the work-life balance conflicts. Furthermore, insights on work-life balance and conflicts that rises on the horizon for hospitality industry worker, difference of work-life balance in this industry, link of performance and balanced work-life, and most importantly, role of human resources policies are given.

The work-family conflict is considered to be one of the most important problems in today's business world. By the situation of un-fulfilment of the requirements of a role while completing the requirements of the other role causes the individuals to live in conflict within the organization or in the family. Especially in the hotel sector, which is a labor-intensive and high turnover sector, it requires more effort than other sectors in order to increase the organizational loyalty, motivation, job satisfaction, and keep the qualified employees. In order to clearly demonstrate the dynamics of work-family conflict in the hotel sector, in this chapter, the concept of work-family conflict is discussed in detail with its causes and consequences, some researches about work-family conflict in the hotel sector in the literature have been examined and evaluations about the topic have been made and suggestions have been developed.

No tourist chooses a destination due to the language, but often tourists consider language a barrier for travel and tourism. The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of variables on the working conditions of national/international chain F&B enterprises on employee motivation. One hundred and sixty-four people working in 11 chain F&B enterprises in Turkey, in Kırklareli province, participated in the survey. The sampling method was used easy sampling for research. The research was conducted by applying survey technique from quantitative research methods. Regression analysis, factor analysis, Mann Whitney U, and Kruskal Wallis analysis were performed in the analysis of the obtained data. As a result of the factor analysis performed, two different components were obtained under working conditions and three different components were obtained in the context of motivational variables. As a result of the simple linear regression analysis performed, it is found that a significant part of the change in the motivation variable depends on the working conditions. Research results are thought to be beneficial to F&B managers.

The rapid development of transportation and communication technologies, improvements in distribution of income, and expansion of the right to vacation to masses are growing the tourism market all over the world. The demands are diversifying and different sub-markets that address the increasingly varied understandings of vacation and accommodation are emerging in the growing tourism market. This study is the summary of the project TR/22/TRA2/0005 supported by the GMKA within the Financial Assistance Programs in 2013 and completed on February 21, 2014. Additionally, in this study, the activities carried out within the scope of the project were examined especially in terms of the webpage, tangible outputs of the project have shed some light on the future of secondary homes, and concrete suggestions were offered in terms of work to be done hereafter. This study has examined alternative accommodation businesses as a new field of work that sheds light on the future of the tourism sector. In this framework, alternative accommodation businesses (such as Airbnb, HomeAway) are discussed.

Being one of the driving forces of social, economic, and cultural development, the tourism sector is of great importance in terms of developing countries in particular. In that regard, countries that want to get more shares from tourism movements have to follow the rapid developments in the sectorial sense and respond to changing customer expectations. In order to ensure high-quality service and guest satisfaction in tourism and therefore the continuity of the business, the qualifications of the people employed in the sector are extremely significant. There are many criteria and sub-criteria when employing the employees. Some of the main criteria discussed in the literature are communication skills, leadership skills, flexibility, decision making, communication skills, analytical skills, and consistency. The important thing is to evaluate and decide about which skill could be more important in which department. Within the scope of this research, personnel selection criteria in tourism business are evaluated. In the study, firstly the conceptual framework about personnel selection criteria is established and personnel selection criteria in tourism are determined in the light of this framework. Then, multi-criteria decision-making method ARAS is used to evaluate the alternatives in line with personnel selection criteria. As a result of the study, the findings obtained by the ARAS method are interpreted.

The tourism and hospitality industry is a major source of employment. This chapter identifies the possible sources of employment through tourism and tourism education. Additionally, the chapter outlines immense tourism opportunities in the region in order to enhance the employment and business ventures. The chapter highlighted the relevance of tourism education to generating and availing job opportunities. The chapter also highlights the factors and challenges which diminish the success of tourism industry at the region likewise – lack of tourism education courses, poor infrastructure, and lack of proper transport services, event management companies, seasonality, and lack of marketing of tourism attraction/tourism products. The region compromises great potential for employability in tourism and hospitality industry despite of it the region is suffering a lot due to unemployment. The major cause is non-availability of professional courses in tourism, travel, and hospitality.

The purpose of this chapter is to identify entrepreneurial skill acquisition priorities of artisans and its dimensional orientation in cultural tourism destinations of India. The study adopted the exploratory sequential method, employed in-depth interview in qualitative stage, and structured questionnaire in the quantitative stage for primary data collection. Factor analysis was done for identifying dimensions of entrepreneurial skill acquisition priorities. Data gathered from three cultural tourism destinations of Andhra Pradesh, India. The results indicate that there are 17 indicators pertaining to entrepreneurial skill acquisition priorities, with three distinct dimensions consisting of (1) managerial skill, (2) initiating skill, and (3) destination-specific skill. This emphasizes that focus has to be given while imparting entrepreneurial training for artisan aspiring for grabbing cultural tourism opportunities. The study highlights the importance of framing broader strategies in skill development programs based on the destination-specific requirements of artisans for an inclusive growth, which may, in turn, meet the conservation and management needs of craft/artwork and also to expand economic opportunities in this informal sector.
