The teaching procedures that are commonly used with language-disordered children do not entirely match the goals that they are intended to achieve. By using a problem-solving approach to teaching language rules, the procedures and goals of language teaching become more harmonious. Such procedures allow a child to create a rule to solve a simple language problem created for the child by a clinician who understands the conditions that control the operation of a rule.

Attention is drawn to the contents, pedagogic style and visual appeal of the 17-volume “Peeps at nature” series published by A. & C. Black between 1911 and 1935. Edited by the Reverend Charles Albert Hall (a Swedenborgian minister), who also contributed most of the titles, this series was a quality production but one that was cheap enough to be readily accessible to young readers. Its volumes were written in simple language and included colour pictures. With time, the flamboyant artistry of the covers that so characterized the earlier volumes was replaced by more muted designs, possibly to reduce production costs. Later contributors abandoned anthropomorphism and the moralizing tone of many nineteenth-century popularizers of natural history, although styles of writing varied between the early and later contributors to the series, becoming less technical with time.

The novel of “Akulah Istri Teroris” is the 14th masterpiece from Abidah El Khalieqy as a man letter that raises the theme of terrorist wife life which is always stereotyped by society including for those who wear the veil. It results to them who are still trying in winning their rights as women. This novel is so attractive to be observed because it bases on the reality and most of people still do not it yet so that we can know about the ideology and discourse construction that wants to deliver by the author. This research used a qualitative research with discourse approach of Teun A. Van Dijk. Van Dijk divides it into three dimensions: Textual dimension that examines the structure of text, the view of social cognition, understanding and mental awareness of the author and also social context according to the discourse that grows among of society. The result shows that all the information within the sentences of the novel have coherence and unity so that it creates shape and meaning. In addition, all the information wrap with attractive and simple language style. Discourse analysis that developed by Van Dijk found that this novel becomes one of media for representing the condition of terrorist wife who always get the stigma from various complexities issues but these women show the reader about the fortitude and strength to raise them up from adversity.

Object In this paper the authors introduce a novel use of magnetoencephalography (MEG) for noninvasive mapping of language-specific cortex in individual patients and in healthy volunteers. Methods The authors describe a series of six experiments in which normative MEG data were collected and the reliability, validity, and topographical accuracy of the data were assessed in patients who had also undergone the Wada procedure or language mapping through intraoperative cortical stimulation. Conclusions Findings include: 1) receptive language-specific areas can be reliably activated by simple language tasks and this activation can be readily recorded in short MEG sessions; 2) MEG-derived maps of each individual are reliable because they remain stable over time and are independent of whether auditory or visual stimuli are used to activate the brain; and 3) these maps are also valid because they concur with results of the Wada procedure in assessing hemispheric dominance for language and with the results of cortical stimulation in identifying the precise topography of receptive language regions within the dominant hemisphere. Although the MEG mapping technique should be further refined, it has been shown to be efficacious by correctly identifying the language-dominant hemisphere and specific language-related regions within this hemisphere. Further development of the technique may render it a valuable adjunct for routine presurgical planning in many patients who harbor tumors or have epilepsy.

This study aims to determine and analyze the application of the principle of transparency and the implementation of excellent service at the Kendari City Investment and One Stop Integrated Service Office. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, data analysis uses interactive model analysis techniques consisting of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing/verification. The results showed that the application of the principle of transparency at the Kendari City Investment Office and PTSP from the informative (informative) aspect of the agency was good enough in providing convenience to the public to obtain information either directly or indirectly about services in the field of investment and licensing, in terms of openness has been good enough in conveying information to the public openly, and is easily accessible through several channels of information delivery, on the other hand, the agency still needs to be more intense in explaining all service requirements both technical and administrative in a clear and easy to understand manner using the system. and simple language to the public, from the aspect of disclosure, it is still not optimal in informing the public of financial details and annual reports regarding revenue, financial management and assets of the organization. In terms of the implementation of excellent service in terms of the dimensions of service procedures, service costs, completion time, service products, infrastructure, the overall competence of service providers is good, with the Public Service Standards  that have been standardized in 2018.

Objective: Medical undergraduates learn pharmacology during the second phase of MBBS. Considering the expanding list of drugs and volatility associated with its learning, the objective of this study was to describe the factors that interfere with the assimilation and reproduction of the concepts in pharmacology. Methods: This was a descriptive study done in the Department of Pharmacology of a Government Medical College in Central Kerala for a period of 2 months. Five short answer questions were chosen to elicit responses from the participants in the form of a surprise test. A Google fill out form elicited the perception of the participants about learning during the pharmacology lecture. The data were sorted and entered into Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software version 16 (SPSS Inc, Chicago, USA). Descriptive data were expressed using frequencies and percentages. Results: Of the 148 students, 84 (56.75%) participated in the study. For the surprise test, the mean marks scored were 2.24±0.77 (maximum marks 5). Forty-seven (56%) participants claimed that they were attentive in pharmacology lectures only “sometimes.” The majority of the participants 82 (97.6%) “sometimes” found it difficult to imbibe the concepts in pharmacology. Seventy (83.3%) agreed that definitions are difficult to learn as such. Only 10 (11.9%) disagreed with the statement that a drug’s action cannot be interpreted as its use because sometimes actions can aggravate some diseases. Sixty-one (72.6%) participants had difficulty in understanding the word “rationale.” Five minutes break, continuity of topics, separate question-answer session at the end of class, summarization, a video demonstration of the mechanism of action, providing printed lecture notes, simple explanation, mnemonics to learn, clinical correlation, lectures during morning hours, and team-based quizzes were some suggestions to increase the assimilation of the subject. Conclusion: Participants had a mean score which was <50% of the total score. While the scores for definitions varied the question on uses of drugs fetched similar marks; however, the students had poor performance on the question related to rationale. Ignorance about the meaning of the word “rationale” shows the importance of regular feedback and the use of simple language in understanding the problems faced by the participants in learning the concepts in pharmacology.

Introduction: Social media advertising could be effective in promoting smoking cessation. However, it's salience to Pacific youth in New Zealand who smoke is unknown.Aim: To explore the views that 18–25 year old Pacific smokers have towards online smoking cessation advertising. Methods: Twenty young Pacific smokers, aged 18–25 years, were recruited through indirect snowballing methods interviewed in focus groups by a female Pacific researcher. Questions centred on smoking cessation advice via social media and devices, preferences for advertisements, effective features and implications for internet banner and ad designs, positive versus negative framing, cultural cues and motivations. The general inductive approach was used to analyse the data for common themes. Results: Smartphones were the most common device and Facebook the social media site most often used by participants. The informants recommended that the advertisements should have the following features: central position, eye-catching, bold imagery using simple language; endorsed by Pacific Island personalities; and positively framed messages to secure and maintain interest. The collective nature of Pacific cultures should be leveraged and testimonies from previous smokers used to strengthen motivation and dispel common myths around smoking. Conclusion: There are potential opportunities for social media to be used as a platform to promote smoking cessation among Pacific young people.
