A description of biotechnical methods of harvesting pike perch in natural reservoirs, methods of catching pike perch spawners, keeping in adaptation cages and transporting pike perch from fishing sites to the farm is given. Pike perch breeders were caught from the reservoirs with fixed and floating nets during the period: in the Kapshagai reservoir from 10 to 20 April; in the Syrdarya river — from April 20 to May 5. The adaptation was carried out in cages located in the coastal zone. Transportation to the fish farm was carried out in live fish tanks with a volume of 1 and 3 m³ with water aeration. The reproduction of pike perch was carried out in two fish farms of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The data on spawning of pike perch in two ways are given: in cages on nests; as well as the receipt of reproduction products by the factory method from “flowing” producers. In the first case, females and males were placed in cages in a ratio of 1:1 and 1:2; a spawning nest was installed in each cage and spawning was monitored. In the second case, from the “flowing” pike perch breeders ready for spawning, reproductive products (eggs and sperm) were obtained, fertilization and degluing were carried out with a suspension of white clay. The monitoring of hydrochemical indicators was constantly carried out, the dates of the beginning and end of spawning of pike perch were determined. The article presents the fish-breeding and biological characteristics of pike perch producers participating in spawning. The mass of spawned pike perch females in LLP “Halyk Balyk” ranged from 2 kg to 2.5 kg, males — 1.5–2.5 kg; females weighing 2.1–2.6 kg were used in the Republican State Enterprise “Kamyshly-Bashsky Fish Hatchery”; males — from 1.2 kg to 2.4 kg. Based on the results of the research, biotechnical standards were developed for the preparation of pike perch producers in water bodies, for transportation to fish farms, standards for spawning of pike perch in various ways.


The first case of heart transplantation in the Far Eastern Federal District is described in the article. Transplantation of heart was performed in Republican hospital No. 1 – the National center of medicine (Yakutsk) on July 06, 2018. In our opinion, transplantation of heart is necessary and feasible in such regions as, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), which has difficult and extreme climate and geography, remote settlements with population less than 1 million people.

We report the findings of the first case-control study conducted in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland to determine risk factors for sporadic Campylobacter infections. A total of 197 cases and 296 case-nominated controls matched for age, were included. Based on Population Attributable Fraction (PAF), the most important risk factors were consuming chicken [adjusted matched (am) OR 6.8; 95%CI 2.1-21.9], consuming lettuce (amOR 3.3; 95%CI 1.5-7.1) and eating in takeaways (amOR=3.1; 95%CI 1.4-6.6). Contact with sheep (amOR=11; 95%CI 1.6-78), peptic ulcer (amOR=19; 95%CI 3.8-93.7), hiatus hernia (amOR=20.3; 95%CI 2.3-183.3), lower bowel problems (amOR=4.5; 95%CI 1.2-16.8) were also independently associated with infection. Mains water supply showed protective effect (amOR=0.2; 95 CI 0.1-0.9). The findings highlight the continued need for consumer food safety education and further control measures throughout the food chain on the island of Ireland.

AbstractIn a period of less than a year, two decisions of the newly established Constitu­tional Court of the Republic of Kosovo resulted in the resignation of two Presidents of the new State. Ruling on the unconstitutionality of the act of simultaneously holding the position of the head of State and that of his political party, in one case; and ruling on the unconstitutionality of his election due to procedural irregularities in the other, the Court prompted fundamental changes to the political landscape of Kosovo that in the first case led to new and extraordinary elections, whereas in the second to a political arrangement that would ultimately lead to constitutional reforms. Following the Court’s decisions, both Presidents (Sejdiu and Pacolli) resigned from their posts.This article offers a textual analysis of the merits and controversies surrounding both decisions, which will be situated in the broader context of the seemingly powerful role of Constitutional Courts in certain societies in transition. The overall analysis demonstrates the weaknesses inherent to the initial stages of State formation, and to the foundational con­stitutional instrument, indicating the importance of the Constitution’s clarity for political stability. In an environment characterized by a dominant perception of a politicized judiciary, the Court’s decisions testify to the judicial activism of the Constitutional Court and, in terms of the substance and consequences of its key decisions, also to judicial supremacy. The Court’s decisions have also had some significance for testing the country’s political culture, a test that has been met in both cases eventually with compliance by those most affected.

Commercially exploited predator animal species are considered as a final host for multiple biohelminths posing a threat both to human and other animals. Fight against pathogens of dangerous helminthozoonoses should be based on combining efforts of scientific and practical centers, various state departments, executive authorities, law enforcement authorities as well as country residents. Examining parasitic fauna in commercially exploited predator animals is of special priority in the Midland Russia with high population density, wherein people have been engaged in hunting closely contacting both with fur animals as well as domestic pets (dogs, cats). Alveococcosis is a natural focal disease caused by Echinococcus multilocularis. The study was aimed at examining dynamics of E. multilocularis recording in the Midland Russia commercially exploited predator animals. 2007—2018 Cestode spread was examined. A research material for (corpses, carcasses, body and tissue fragments) was obtained hunting reserves located in the Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod, Moscow, Tver, Oryol and Bryansk regions of the Midland Russia as well as the Republic of Karelia. Complete or partial helminthological autopsy carried out in accordance with K.I. Scriabin technique (1928) was performed in 262 animals, including 193 common red foxes, 28 domestic and 16 raccoon dogs, 16 domestic cats, 6 wolves, 2 brown bears and one lynx. It was shown that cestodes E. multilocularis was found in 46 foxes (23.8%), 3 raccoon dogs (18.7%), 3 wolves (50%) and one domestic dog (3.6%). Moreover, the peak tapeworm prevalence in carnivorous animals was noted for foxes and raccoon dogs in 2010—2011 (42.4%), 2011— 2012 (37.1%) and 2012—2013 (42.1%). On the other hand, no tapeworm invasion in carnivores was noted during 2009—2010 and 2013—2014 sports hunting seasons. However, a causative agent of alveococcosis is routinely detected in the Ryazan and Vladimir regions. The prevalence of invasion in animals differs in foxes, raccoon dogs, wolves ranging from 12 to 40,000, in raccoon dogs — from 37 to 112, in wolves — from 12 to 318 tapeworms per animal, and in domestic dog reaching 19 worms per animal. The data of 2007—2018 personal studies point at spread of alveococcosis foci in the Midland Russia.

Infection caused by Echinococcus multilocularis is a rare helminthiasis, human cases have not been diagnosed in Hungary until now. The endemic region is Central Europe; the occurrence of this infection has been reported from most of the neighbouring countries; however, E. multilocularis has been found in the red fox population in Hungary. Summarizing the recent knowledge concerning epidemiological, clinical patterns and therapeutic options, the authors describe the first Hungarian case of alveolar echinococcosis. In the presence of appropriate clinical findings, the possibility of this rare infection has to be considered in the differencial diagnosis of infiltrative hepatic lesions.

A variety of media and techniques has been employed in attempts to grow various stages of Echinococcus in vitro. Whole, intact Echinococcus multilocularis cysts and undifferentiated cystic material proliferate readily in chemically defined media, but except for a single occurrence, no scoleces developed within the new vesicles. Scoleces can be induced to develop either toward the tapeworm stage or the vesicular larval stage by altering the medium. In the first case, the scoleces increase in size, the excretory system becomes prominent, and segmentation is advanced; gonads have not developed in any medium yet employed. Scoleces may vesiculate in several ways; ultimately, they become vacuolated, the suckers are absorbed, the hooks shed, and a thin, laminated membrane is laid down. Local internal thickenings probably represent secondary brood capsules or scoleces.

In Europe, the first case of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the first COVID-19-related death were reported in France on January 24th and February 15th, 2020, respectively. Officially, the first case of COVID-19 infection in the Republic of Serbia was registered on March 6th. Herein, we presented the first case of retrospective detection of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in the post-mortem-obtained vitreous humor (VH), which took place on February 5th, 2020. This is the first death in Europe proven to be caused by COVID-19 by means of post-mortem histopathological and molecular analyses. Based on this finding, it appears that SARS-CoV-2 has been spreading faster and started spreading much earlier than it had been considered and that COVID-19 was probably the cause of the much-reported pneumonia of unknown origin in January and February 2020.

In late December 2019, in the city of Wuhan, in China, the appearance of unknown viral pneumonia was recorded in a large number of patients. The cause of this infection was soon discovered - a new coronavirus, called SARS-CoV-2, due to its genetic similarity to the virus that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV). The infection then spread rapidly to other continents, and the pandemic is still ongoing. The clinical presentation varies from the asymptomatic form to symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection, and finally to pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The elderly, immunocompromised patients, and patients suffering from chronic, internal medicine diseases are at risk of the severe form of the COVID-19 disease. The virus enters cells via angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptors, which are present in practically all tissues in the body. In addition to interstitial pneumonia, pathological changes are also found in other organ systems. The first case in Serbia was recorded on March 6, 2020. A large number of patients required the engagement of health workers of all profiles as well as the introduction of a large number of health institutions into the COVID system. The emergence of a new virus necessitated a new antiviral drug. Based on previous experience with the SARS-CoV virus, previously known antiviral drugs have been used, with varying degrees of success. The therapy changed in accordance with new knowledge, and since the beginning of the epidemic in Serbia, the National Protocol of the Republic of Serbia for the Treatment of the COVID-19 Infection has been established, which has kept apace with the recommendations of the world's leading institutions. The most significant event during the pandemic was the development of the vaccine against COVID-19, with vaccination in Serbia beginning in December 2020. How quickly the epidemic will end depends directly on the speed and efficiency of vaccination, along with other epidemiological measures.
