as the manufacturing industry gains momentum around the world, the conflicts between its rapid development and the accompanying consumption of materials, discharge of wastes and ecological impacts spiral. Governments around the world have explored measures and made achievements in alleviating the dual pressures from economic growth and environmental degradation. As for the overall trend of the manufacturing industry, creating and developing “green manufacturing” brands is the only way for the manufacturing industry to achieve further development. It is of great significance to design guidelines for green manufacturing from the angle of branding, the green notion provides more profundity and the soul to brands, ensuring sustainable development of brands. The development of green brands in Xiamen has adopted a global vision and related to the local realities, which would provide lessons for high-quality development of green manufacturing brands in other places.

This paper seeks to answer the question why Finland is considered to have one of the best education systems in the world. The author aims at providing a descriptive case study of Finland in comparison to the Polish educational system with some reference to other Western countries. The world first noticed Finland following the release of PISA results in 2001. Yet, PISA overview is just a starting point for this case study. The paper analyses different social, economic and political factors which, in the author’s opinion, contributed the most to the Finnish success in education. Major arguments for the Finnish success are preceded by an overview of educational reforms from the 1950s until the present. The author argues that the remarkably high social status of teachers, their autonomy and great qualifications, consistency in educational reforms which offer high quality, equity and decentralization are the primary reasons for Finland’s global success. All of the above achievements are compared to Poland’s current situation in education.

Durban climate conference decided to continue the second commitment period of the Kyoto protocol, and announced to start Green Climate Fund, which provided great opportunities for the rapid development of the carbon trading market. The problem of grassland carbon sink has already received more and more attention from the countries all over the world, and the grassland carbon sink potential and value also got more attention from people. Xilinhot has abundant grassland resources and it is one of the main grasslands in Inner Mongolia. The huge carbon sink has important ecological function and also contains huge economic benefits. Based on the principle of additionality, this paper proposed the method of calculating the carbon sink potential of grasslands, and calculated and analyzed the carbon sink potential of degraded grasslands in Xilinhot. The results indicated that the existing huge carbon sink potential of Xilinhot grasslands was 0.733-0.869Tg C/a. According to the carbon sequestration cost price of afforestation cost method (260.9 RMB yuan / ton C), we estimated the value of grassland carbon sink was 191.2 - 226.7 million RMB yuan / year in Xilinhot.

Manufacturing processes involve the input of high quality energy and/or dissipation of low quality energy to manipulate a material; similarly the input of high quality material usually leads to the generation of low quality materials. A useful output involves the operation of conventional processes including a wide variety of functions such as lubrication, air compression, cooling, heating, pumping, etc., which have, on the one hand, high energy and material consumption and, on the other hand, losses due to an inherent departure from reversible processes. This paper presents an energy-flow methodology to determine the ratio between the additional energy required per useful energy unit for the manufacturing processes. As an application of the method proposed in this work, an assembly and welding production line is shown as a case study. This process is a common technique used in the manufacturing industry and its energy consumption depends on several parameters e.g. heat and electrical input. As a result of this study, the energy consumption of the production line has been reduced by approximately 30% from the 645.94 Wh of total energy consumption, where the consumption of real useful energy is 4% of this total.

PT NT is one of an International Tobacco Industries in Indonesia. The rapid development of the cigarette industry, as well as the increased demand, encourage many companies to evolve their production quality and capacity. One effort established by PT NT is controlling the effectiveness of production machines, including SD5 machine. In this study, an analysis of SD5 machine performance conducted using the Overall Equipment Effectiveness and Total Effective Equipment Performance. Based on the ten days of direct observation of machine performance, the study revealed that the OEE level was only a mere at 63.2%, under the world level, 85%. Further, the TEEP number was about 36.8%. Those low figures were mainly caused by the low level of machine utilization and availability. Thus, the fishbone diagram established to discover the main causal, reporting that four main aspects, human, methods, material and machine, played essential roles in the problem.

Introduction. Banking project investments as one of the important factors of economic development of any country should be investigated. Despite the relative novelty of project financing in Ukraine, it should be studied because this process has been widely used for a long period in the world, which is confirmed by the implementation of large-scale projects. The purpose of the article is the implementation of a comparative analysis of bank project financing in Ukraine and the world during the pre-crisis macroeconomic situation, as well as the development of appropriate proposals for further development of the mentioned investments. Results. It substantiated the promotion project financing would be impossible in the conditions of the predominance of the short-term loans and the unwillingness of banking institutions to participate in the financing of infrastructure and investment projects. The factors hindering the development of bank project financing in Ukraine were determined. Significant potential for the rapid development of project financing has been fully confirmed by the corresponding market demand. However, for the development of project financing in Ukraine it is necessary to realistically and in detail assess the viability and profitability of projects. Also, the most effective leverage can and should be appropriate changes in the legislation that might give the guarantee bilateral protection of investors and creditors, as well as describe the approaches to the formation of a simplified mechanism for this type of financing.

AbstractThe high-quality development of the manufacturing industry is an important strategic task for Chinese economic development. The rapid development of the manufacturing industry is also accompanied by problems such as overcapacity and environmental pollution. This paper analyzes the impact of capacity utilization on the high-quality development of manufacturing and establishes a nonlinear threshold regression model on this basis, and studies and analyzes environmental regulations as a threshold variable under the influence of capacity utilization rate on the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry. The research results show that: capacity utilization, profitability, foreign direct investment, and government participation all have a significant positive impact on the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry; environmental regulations have a significant negative impact on the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry. And in the model of the effect of capacity utilization on the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry, environmental regulation has a single threshold effect. With the increase in the intensity of environmental regulation, the coefficient and significance of the effect of capacity utilization on the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry have changed. Finally, this article puts forward corresponding policies and suggestions based on the results of data analysis.

With the rapid development of high quality industries, it is particularly important to study the sustainable competitiveness of manufacturing and its driving factors. The aim of this paper is to build the whole competitiveness index to analyze the recent development trends of manufacturing in G20 participating countries from 2008 to 2018. Meanwhile, based on the diamond theory, this paper adopted a panel regression model to conduct an empirical analysis on various factors that affect the sustainable competitiveness of manufacturing. These results showed the following: (1) Transport services have the most significant effect on manufacturing in developing countries. (2) Intellectual property only has a positive and significant effect on manufacturing in developed countries. (3) Information technology plays a significant role in all countries, but it is more effective in developed countries. Finally, this paper puts forward some suggestions for the sustainable development of manufacturing.

Export activities are important to the economic growth of the country, especially for developing countries. The city of Cilegon in Banten Province is the main city for the manufacturing industry in Indonesia, mainly for its iron and steel products. This study aims to determine the proportion of exported goods for the manufacturing industry in the City of Cilegon and make suggestions for further development. Data used are BPS publications 2016-2020, LQ is calculated to know the basis of the economic sector in the city. According to the calculation, the manufacturing industry in the City of Cilegon shares 59.70%, the highest among other regions. Commodities that dominated the export trade are footwear, plastic products, iron and steel products, while the US, China, and Japan were the countries that had the highest FOB. To escalate export performance and intensity, it is necessary to consider market and competitors’ networks, improvement of education and transport infrastructure, along with environmental and social-cultural impacts.

Epilepsy is a disorder in which several recurrent seizures occur, and despite the fact that there are over twenty anti-seizure drugs available, more than 30% of people with epilepsy continue to have seizures (Friedman & Devinsky, 2015; Kolb & Whishaw, 2009). Many researchers have turned to marijuana, specifically the constituent cannabidiol (CBD), as they search for new solutions to effectively help this treatment-resistant form of epilepsy. The purpose of this paper is to provide an assessment between the relationship of marijuana and epilepsy. I will review a total of six studies, including one case study, and one meta-analysis. A considerable amount of controversy surrounds this topic, as marijuana is illegal in many parts of the world, and many researchers are undecided as to whether its legalization will be beneficial or not. In spite of this disagreement, most researchers believe that marijuana, specifically CBD, has shown some evidence in regard to the positive health benefits and reduction of seizures in epilepsy. Future analysis requires high quality and reliable studies which can continue to further our understanding of the relationship between marijuana and epilepsy.
