Introduction Cattle kidney is an interesting organ because of its individual morphological structure and the mobility of the left kidney. The effects of heat stress on animal yield have been previously researched. However, no data could be obtained during the literature research about the effects of heat stress on the morphological structure of cattle kidneys. Materials and Methods In the present study, morphometric measurements were performed on the left and right kidneys of male and female Holstein cattle. The kidney samples were collected in the summer and winter seasons to assess the effects of heat stress. A scale, water overflow, and a Mitutoyo CDN-P20PMX caliper (Mitutoyo Corporation, Kanagawa, Japan) were used to obtain the morphological structural data of the total kidney, and stereological sampling methods with microscopy were performed to investigate the glomerulus density per unit area and the diameter of the glomerulus. Results Morphological changes on the kidneys were observed after the measurements. Conclusion It can be said that heat stress may cause morphologic changes on cattle kidneys.

The article presents data on the long-term effect (nine months) of a silicon compound supplied with drinking water – nonahydrate sodium metasilicate (10 mg/l in terms of silicon), on CD68-positive macrophages in the liver and spleen of laboratory rats. Changes in the morphological characteristics of this cell population were found. There was a decrease in the average cell area (in the liver of the control group of rats, the average macrophage area was 179.23±5.94 microns2, and in the group receiving silicon with drinking water – 117.04±3.35 microns2; in the spleen-136.02±3.93 microns2 and 103.44±2.8 microns2, respectively). Macrophages in the liver preparations of the experimental group of rats had a fewer processes and a darker cytoplasmic membrane. The number of macrophages in the liver per unit area was comparable, for the control group of rats it was 18.78±1.24, and for the rats that received with water with the addition of silicon – 19.41±0.75 cells. CD68+ macrophages of the red splenic pulp in laboratory rats that received silicon also underwent the following morphological changes: they were located in a denser way and had fewer processes, while the number of macrophages per unit area was 73.7±2.3 for the control group, 91.6±5.0-for the experimental group, respectively. The distance between them did not change. There was a change in the intensity of CD68 expression on the surface of the cytoplasmic membrane and in the cytoplasm of liver and spleen macrophages. These changes can be interpreted as the adaptive ability of liver and spleen macrophages to silicon introduced with drinking water. Given the heterogeneity of the macrophage population in the liver and spleen, further studies using markers for different subpopulations of macrophages are needed to clarify their role in the response of tissues to silicon supplied with drinking water.

Abstract Introduction: The objective of this study was to analyze the morphological structure of the heart and aorta of rats treated with the synthetic glucocorticoid dexamethasone. Material and Methods: Male Wistar rats were divided into two groups: 08 control rats undergoing treatment with a 0.9% saline solution for 10 days and 08 rats treated for 10 days with dexamethasone (2mg/kg animal weight). Results: Histological analysis detected a mild cardiac hypertrophy and 15% reduction of collagen located in the aorta of animals treated with glucocorticoid when compared to the control group. Conclusion: We conclude that treatment with dexamethasone for a period of 10 consecutive days is able to promote morphological changes in the structure of the heart chamber and, impair morphological structure of aorta.

To study morphological features of the placenta in women in labor, pregnancy which complicated by preeclampsia we studied 26 placentae, of which 17 were from pregnant women with mild to moderate preeclampsia (basic group) and 9 from healthy women (control group). Histologically the study was conducted with methodically recommendations of T.D. Zadorozhnaya et al. for light microscopy. During the study of morphological features of the placenta in women in labor with preeclampsia were installed morphological changes in the placenta, which reflect a tendency to develop compensatory-adaptive reactions following their stress and exhaustion, which is a sign of placental insufficiency. Received data allow claiming a high frequency of development placental insufficiency in pregnant women with risk factors such as chronic salpingo-oophoritis, anemia, late preeclampsia, and inflammation diseases kidney.

ABSTRACTExtensive gel permeation chromatography coupled with surface structure measurements clearly indicate that polyaniline (pani) base has a tendency to aggregate as a result of interchain hydrogen-bonding. The aggregation is present in the solid state powder; the extent of aggregation is found to be significantly dependent on the synthetic conditions. Pani base powders having a high degree of aggregation have significantly reduced solubility. The degree of aggregation of pani base in solution is found to be dependent on the solvent, concentration, and temperature. As the solvent becomes a better solvent for the base material, the less aggregated is the structure. Solvents which can strongly interact with the polymer disrupt the aggregation. In addition, salts such as LiCl which complex the polymer via a “pseudo-doping” process, also disrupt the internal pani hydrogen-bonding and deaggregate the polymer. As the polymer is deaggregated to different levels by a solvent or by LiCl, the individual chains can better be solvated and thus a conformational change also occurs. The chains adapt a more expanded coil type of conformation. The degree of expansion depends on the solvation power of the solvent. As the level of deaggregation and subsequent chain expansion increases, a significant red shift is observed in the λmaximum of the exciton absorbance and the surface structure of the polymer becomes smoother. It is found that the LiCl induced morphological changes results in increased conductivity upon doping pani base with a protonic acid.

(1) Background: Macroporous hydrogel scaffolds based on poly [N-(2-hydroxypropyl) methacrylamide] are one of the widely studied biocompatible materials for tissue reparation and regeneration. This study investigated the morphological changes during hydrogel characterization which can significantly influence their future application. (2) Methods: Three types of macroporous soft hydrogels differing in pore size were prepared. The macroporosity was achieved by the addition of sacrificial template particles of sodium chloride of various sizes (0–30, 30–50, and 50–90 µm) to the polymerizing mixture. The 3D structure of the hydrogels was then investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and laser scanning confocal microscopy (LSCM). The SEM was performed with specimens rapidly frozen to various temperatures, while non-frozen gels were visualized with LSCM. (3 and 4) Results and Conclusion: In comparison to LSCM, the SEM images revealed a significant alteration in the mean pore size and appearance of newly formed multiple connections between the pores, depending on the freezing conditions. Additionally, after freezing for SEM, the gel matrix between the pores and the fine pores collapsed. LSCM visualization aided the understanding of the dynamics of pore generation using sodium chloride, providing the direct observation of hydrogel scaffolds with the growing cells. Moreover, the reconstructed confocal z-stacks were a promising tool to quantify the swollen hydrogel volume reconstruction which is not possible with SEM.

The study of morphological changes in the kidneys of white rats after intramuscular injection of insulin at a dose of 1 IU/kg of body weight was carried out. The insulin effect was amplified using stress models of immobilization and swimming. Blood samples from tail vein of rats were taken to confirm the action of insulin. At autopsy, the authors conducted the fence venous blood flowing from the kidneys. Comparison with a control group showed that morphological changes in the renal parenchyma were formed after the insulin introduction and characterized by venous congestion in the microvasculature, ischemic changes in the renal parenchyma with areas of hemorrhage, thickening of the basement membrane, expansion of tubules, hydropic degeneration of the epithelium, hypertrophy and enlargement of the loops of the glomeruli. Measurement of glucose in venous blood flowing from the kidneys revealed hyperglycemia. The morphological changes in the tissues of the kidney indicate the development of venous congestion, glomerular hyperfiltration and hypovolemia, hypertension, glycosuria, glycosylation membranes, the deposition of glycogen in the epithelium of kidney tubules, microalbuminuria. The obtained results allow to draw attention to the fact that among the factors of damage during the development of diabetic nephropa-thy, a hyperinsulinemia may have a negative impact

SUMMARYVariation in scrotal wool cover influenced the percentage of abnormal cells in the semen of rams exposed in the hot room. The percentage of abnormal cells was highest in the rams with maximum wool cover on their scrota, intermediate in those with scrota completely devoid of wool cover and minimum in those with intermediate (2 to 3 cm) scrotal wool cover.

Abstract This paper presents analytical results of the study of adaptatiogenesis within the family Arvicolidae (Mammalia, Rodentia) based of morphological changes of the most functional characters of their masticatory apparatus — dental system — through time. The main directions of the morphological differentiation in parallel evolution of the arvicolid tooth type within the Cricetidae and Arvicolidae during late Miocene and Pliocene were identified and substantiated. It is shown that such unique morphological structure as the arvicolid tooth type has provided a relatively high rate of evolution of voles and a wide range of their adaptive radiation, as well as has determined their taxonomic and ecological diversity. The optimality of the current state of this group and evaluation of evolutionary prospects of Arvicolidae were presented and substantiated here as a phenomenon in their evolution.

AbstractThe present paper treats the different types of formation and the inflectional patterns of the active imperfect of the verbs that in traditional grammar are known as verbs of the ‘2nd conjugation’ in the Peloponnesian varieties of Modern Greek (except Tsakonian and Maniot), mainly from a diachronic point of view. A reconstruction of the processes that led to the current situation is attempted and directions for further possible changes are suggested. The diachrony of the morphology of the imperfect of the ‘2nd conjugation’ in the Peloponnesian varieties involves developments such as morphologization of a phonological process and the evolution of number-oriented allomorphy at the level of aspectual markers, while at the same time offering interesting insights into the mechanisms and scope of morphological changes and the morphological structure of the Modern Greek verb. These developments can also offer important evidence for the process of dialectal differentiation of Medieval/‘Early Modern’ Greek.

The article presents a clinical case of diabetic fetopathy in a newborn from a mother with diabetes mellitus, which manifested itself not only by phenotypic disorders, but also by morphological changes in the heart – hypertrophy of the left and right ventricles with obstruction of the outflow parts of the heart, the development of respiratory, heart failure, and neurological disorders. Disorder of carbohydrate metabolism in a patient with high risk factors for metabolic disorders, which was not detected in time, and the refusal of the necessary treatment led to the need to treat the newborn in the intensive care unit. The frequency of occurrence of diabetic fetopathy in different types of diabetes mellitus was shown on the basis of data from the Center for Endocrine Diseases of Pregnant Women on the basis of GKB No. 29
