Abstract Cempaka tree (Elmerillia ovalis), best known as a multipurpose tree species, is mostly used for the building of luxurious traditional houses of the Toraja and Minahasa Tribe as well as for religious sculptures. Due to the specific qualifications, the cempaka wood demands gradually increase, while the populations in nature drastically decrease. On the other hand, early seedling growth encounters many obstacles such as recalcitrant seeds, slow growth, and sensitivity to leaf disease. This study aimed to improve the quality of the seedling prepared for a higher survival rate when planted in the field. This research was conducted at the nursery of the Bogor Forest Research and Development Centre, Indonesia. The factorial experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design, consisting of two factors: wood vinegar as a growth stimulant and media composition, in three replications. The stimulant factor consisted of two levels: the addition of wood vinegar (1.5 %) and (control), and the media composition factor consisted of four levels: (a) soil 100%, (b) soil: cocopeat rice husks (6: 3: 1), (c) soil: rice husks (1:1), and (d) soil: manure (2:1). The observed parameters were seedling height, diameter, root/shoot ratio, seedling quality index (SQI). The best growth of cempaka seedlings resulted in treatments of wood vinegar in combination with soil media mixed with manure. Seedlings in this treatment height 58.93 cm, 6.8 mm diameter, S/R ratio 3.61, and 1.26 SQI, respectively, better than the others. The best treatment also gives the 12 months seedlings absence of leaf disease.

ABSTRAK Buah pisang Cavendish merupakan salah satu produk hortikultura yang rentan mengalami kemunduran fisiologis dan sangat rentan terhadap kerusakan fisik setelah panen. Penggunaan berbagai konsentrasi asap cair bambu tabah dengan lama perendaman yang berbeda dapat digunakan sebagai pengawet alami. Buah pisang yang digunakan adalah pisang Cavendish yang berasal dari Kabupaten Buleleng, dalam satu sisir berisi paling sedikit10 buah dengan panjang rata-rata 18.89 cm dan berat rata-rata 125  gram (g). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menemukan kombinasi perlakuan terbaik dari perlakuan konsentrasi asap cair dan lama perendaman untuk menjaga kesegaran dan masa simpan pada buah pisang Cavendish selama penyimpanan. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktorial dengan dua faktor, yaitu faktor pertama adalah konsentrasi asap cair bambu tabah dan faktor kedua adalah lama perendaman. Faktor pertama terdiri dari empat taraf konsentrasi yaitu 1%, 3%, 5%, dan 7%. Faktor kedua terdiri dari tiga taraf lama perendaman yaitu 10 menit, 20 menit dan 30 menit dengan suhu penyimpanan menggunakan suhu ruang (28±2oC).  Parameter yang diamati dalam penelitian ini adalah laju respirasi, susut bobot, kekerasan, TPT, tingkat kerusakan, dan organoleptik. Hasil interaksi terbaik ditunjukkan pada perlakuan 7% konsentrasi asap cair bambu tabah dan perendaman 10 menit, dengan nilai rata-rata parameter laju respirasi 51.18 ml CO2/kg.jam, nilai rata-rata susut bobot dengan nilai 17.61%, nilai rata-rata kekerasan 3.82 kg, nilai rata-rata TPT 15.65 %Brix, nilai tingkat kerusakan 2.40, nilai rata-rata organoleptik rasa sebesar 4.67, aroma sebesar 4.54 dan warna sebesar 3.87. Disimpulkan bahwa kombinasi perlakuan A4B1 (konsentrasi asap cair bambu tabah 7% dengan perendaman selama 10 menit) adalah kombinasi terbaik untuk menjaga kesegaran dan memperlambat penurunan kualitas buah pisang Cavendish hingga akhir periode penyimpanan hari ke-15. ABSTRACT Cavendish banana one of the horticultural products that are prone to physiological setbacks and very vulnerable to physical damages after harvest. Various concentrations of tabah bamboo liquid smoke with different soaking times can use as natural preservatives. The bananas used in this study were Cavendish bananas from Buleleng, every bunch consists of at least ten banana with a length of 18.59 cm and a weight of 125 ± 5 g. This study aims to find the best treatment combination of the treatmentoof liquid smoke concentration and soaking time to maintain freshness and shelf life of Cavendish bananas during storage. The experimental design used in this study was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors, the first factor was the concentration of tabah bamboo liquid smoke, and the second factor was the soaking time. The first factor consists of four levels of concentration namely 1%, 3%, 5%, and 7%. The second factor consists of three levels of soaking time, namely 10 minutes, 20 minutes and 30 minutes with storage temperature using room temperature (28 ± 2oC).  The parameters observed in this study are: repiration rate, weight loss, hardness, level of damages, TPT and organoleptics. The best interaction results are shown in the treatment of 7% concentration of tabah bamboo liquid smoke with 10 minutes of soaking with an average value of respiration rate parameters of 51.18 ml CO2 / kg.hour, an average value of weight loss with a value of 17.61%, an average value of hardness of 3.82 kg, the average value of TPT was 15.65% Brix, the value of the level of damage was 2.40, the average organoleptic value of taste was 4.67, aroma was 4.54 and color was 3.87. The conclus of this study indicates that the combination of A4B1 (7% tabah bamboo liquid smoke concentration with soaking for 10 minutes) is the best combination to keep freshness and the quality of green bananas until the storage period of the 15th day.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji interaksi kombinasi perlakuan antara rasio starter dan  konsentrasi ekstrak buah naga merah (Hylocereus polyrhizus) pada yogurt drink terhadap aktivitas antioksidan, BAL, viskositas dan nilai L*a*b*. Penelitian dengan menggunakan desain eksperimen rancangan acak lengkap pola faktorial dengan dua faktor dan tiga kali pengulangan. Faktor pertama adalah rasio starter, mempunyai tiga taraf yaitu S1,1 (L. bulgaricus + S. termophilus): 1 B. longum; S2,1 (L. bulgaricus + S. termophilus): 2 B. longum; dan S3, 2 (L. bulgaricus + S. termophilus): 1 B. longum dan faktor kedua konsentrasi ekstrak buah naga merah mempunyai empat taraf dengan T0 tanpa buah naga merah, T1 ekstrak buah naga merah 5%; T2 ekstrak buah naga merah 10%; T3 ekstrak buah naga merah 15%. Variabel yang diuji aktivitas antioksidan, BAL, viskositas dan warna . Variabel dianalisis dengan ANOVA pada taraf 5% dan  dilanjutkan dengan uji Wilayah Ganda Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya interaksi rasio bakteri dengan konsentrasi ekstrak buah naga merah terhadap aktivitas antioksidan dan  pengaruh nyata (P<0.05) terhadap viskositas dan nilai  L*a*b* sedangkan pada  jumlah  BAL tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0.05). Semakin tinggi rasio Bifidobacterium longum menghasilkan kenaikan viskositas dan semakin tinggi penambahan  konsentrasi ekstrak buah naga merah menghasilkan  kenaikan nilai a (warna merah - hijau)  sedangkan viskositas, nilai L (kecerahan) dan nilai b (biru – kekuningan) mengalami penurunan, dan jumlah BAL tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap perlakuan.The  purpose of this research was to evaluate the interaction combination of treatments between starter ratio and the concentration of red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) extract of yogurt drink to  antioxidant activity, LAB, viscosity and L*a*b* score . The experiment design of  this research was completely randomized design  of factorial pattern with two factors and three replications. The first factor was a starter ratio, with has  three levels of  S1, 1(L. bulgaricus + S. termophilus): 1 B. longum; S2, 1( L. bulgaricus + S. thermophilus): 2 B. longum; and S3, 2 (L. bulgaricus + S. termophilus):1 B. longum) and  the second factor was the concentrations  of red dragon fruit extract having four levels (T0,  without red dragon fruit extract; T1, red dragon fruit extract 5%; T2, red dragon fruit extract 10%; T3, red dragon fruit extract 15% ). Variables tested for antioxidant activity, BAL, viscosity and  L*a*b* score . The variables were analyzed by ANOVA at 5% level  and continued by Duncan Multiple Range Test . The result showed that the interaction of bacteria ratio with red dragon fruit extract concentration on antioxidant activity and significant effect (P <0.05) on viscosity and L*a*b* score  while in LAB did not have significant effect (P> 0.05). The higher  ratio Bifidobacterium longum  resulted in increased viscosity and the higher concentration of red dragon fruit extract yields a (red - green) value rises while viscosity, L (brightness) and b (blue - yellow) values decrease.

The experiment was conducted at the Agronomy Laboratory of Agrotechnology Discipline, KhulnaUniversity, Khulnato determine the effect of salt stress on germination and seedling growth of indigenous Aman rice varieties during June, 2015 to December, 2015.  The salt tolerant landraces will be used as genetic resource for variety development program in future. The factorial experiment consists of two factors such as ten indigenous Aman rice varieties and four levels of salt solutions viz EC (dS m−1) of 5, 10 and 15 with control (distilled water). The experiment was laid out in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications. The interaction effects between variety and salinity on germination and seedling growth parameters of indigenous Aman rice varieties were varied significantly. It was found that germination capacity, energy, speed, seedling vigor index, root length and shoot length of rice were decreased gradually with increasing salinity. The germination energy and germination speed of most varieties were drastically reduced at 10 dS m−1 or higher salinity levels. The germination capacity of Hatibazor, Boushohagi, Shadagotal and Moinamoti were recorded 97.66 %, 99.33%, 98.0 % and 97.33%, respectively at 15 dS m−1 water salinity in laboratory condition. The results revealed that the indigenous Aman rice varieties named Boushohagi, Shadagotal, Hatibazor, Moinamoti, Motha were performed better over other varieties considering of germination and seedling growth parameters.J. Pulai (Alstonia scholaris) is a fast growing local species that can be used rehabilitation activities on peat swamp forest. This study aims to obtain information application the response of growth and quality of pulai seedlings to wood vinegar and shade. The research was carried out at orchid exsitu observation site stock  and community service and in the silvicultural laboratory of Faculty of Forestry. This study applied an experimental method with a split plot design with a complete randomized design (CRD). The treatment consisted of two factors,“shading” as the main factor and kind of  organic vinegar as  sub  factor. The results obtained were based on observations 12 weeks after planting, the growth percentage of pulai seedlings for the 100%, while ofthen variables in this study had no effect. The main factor is organic fertilizer with 2 levels: chemical fertilizer and wood vinegar, while the shade factor is a main factor that less interest. Results showed that the response of height growth was significantly higher 13.0% to chemical fertilizer than wood vinegar when planted in a shadeless condition. However, if planted in conditions with a shade of 60%, the response was no different. The response of leaves growth to fertilizer is significant when planted under different shade conditions. In the condition without shade, the response of leaves is 11.8% higher compared to wood vinegar. Conversely, in condition with shading 60%, the response  the number of leaves growth on wood vinegar was 13.0% higher than that of chemical fertilizer. In this study, the concentration of wood vinegar as much as 4% was not effective enough to increase the enhance  of pulai seedlings.Keywoards: Organic vinegar, pulai seedlings, shade

<p>ABSTRACT</p><p><br />This study was aimed at determining the planting media composition and media volume for pummelo growth. A complete randomized design with two factors was arranged in this experiment. The first factor was planting media composition, consisting of (1) rice hull charcoal : soil = 1 : 1, (2) cocopeat : soil = 1 : 1, (3) cocopeat : rice hull charcoal = 1 : 1, (4) rice hull charcoal : cocopeat : soil = 1 : 1 : 1, and (5) soil as control. The second factor was media volume, namely 10, 20, and 30 L. The results showed that plant height, leaf number, root volume and P leaf concentration of pummelo grown in 30 L media were significantly higher than those of pummelo grown in 10 L media, but were not different from those of grown in 20 L media, except for leaf number. Plant height, root volume and N leaf content of pummelo grown in rice hull charcoal : soil relatively were higher than those grown in rice hull charcoal : cocopeat. Planting media composition of rice hull charcoal : cocopeat had N and C content, C/N ratio, organic matter, K2O and cation exchange capacity higher, but had water content, bulk density, particle density lower than other growing medium. The most suitable planting medium for potted pummelo was rice hull charcoal : soil, and 20 L medium volume was still suitable until 24 WAP (weeks after planting).</p><p>Key words: cocopeat, N and P leaves content, rice hull charcoal, root volume,</p><p>ABSTRAK</p><p><br />Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komposisi dan volume media tanam yang sesuai untuk pertumbuhan tanaman pamelo. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) faktorial dengan dua faktor yaitu komposisi media tanam dan volume media tanam. Komposisi media tanam terdiri atas lima taraf, yaitu (1) arang sekam : tanah (1:1), (2) cocopeat : tanah (1:1), (3) cocopeat : arang sekam (1:1), (4) arang sekam : cocopeat : tanah (1:1:1), dan (5) tanah (kontrol), sedangkan volume media tanam terdiri atas tiga taraf (10, 20, dan 30 L). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tinggi, jumlah daun, volume akar dan kandungan P daun tanaman pamelo pada volume media tanam 30 L lebih besar dibandingkan dengan pada media 10 L, tetapi tidak berbeda nyata dengan pada media tanam 20 L, kecuali jumlah daun. Tinggi tanaman, volume akar dan kandungan N daun tanaman pamelo pada media arang sekam : tanah relatif lebih besar dibandingkan dengan pada media arang sekam : cocopeat. Media tanam arang sekam : cocopeat memiliki kandungan N, C, nisbah C/N, bahan organik, K2O dan nilai tukar kation lebih tinggi, tetapi kadar air, bobot isi dan bobot jenis lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan media tanam lain. Dengan demikian, komposisi media tanam yang paling sesuai untuk tanaman pamelo adalah arang sekam : tanah dan volume media tanam 20 L masih sesuai untuk tanaman pamelo hingga 24 MST (minggu setelah tanam).</p><p>Kata kunci: arang sekam, cocopeat, kandungan N dan P daun, volume akar</p>

Oyster mushroom is one of the most popular consumed mushrooms and also gives benefit for the body because it contains high nutrition and low fat. The goal of this research was to know and analyse the increase growth of some varieties of oyster mushroom on the bagasse media by adding molasses and tofu dregs. The research method was completely factorial randomized design (RAL Factorial) with two factors. The first factor was the media composition of sawdust and bagasse powder and The second factor was oyster musroom. The data analysis was tested by Anova and continued with duncan test if the results of variance were significantly different to very real. The results showed that the best treatment for mycelium growth on M1 media (100% bagasse + 1% molasses + 6% tofu dregs) with the best combination M2V3 (75% bagasse + 25% sawdust + 1% molasses + tofu dregs 6% on brown oyster mushroom). The largest stem diameter for V1 (white oyster mushroom) was 9.24 cm at the first harvest, and 9.01 cm the second harvest. The best length of the stalk in V3 variety (brown oyster mushroom) was 4.94 cm at the first harvest and 5.11 cm the second harvest. The best treatment on oyster mushroom production showed that variety V1 (white oyster mushroom) showed high production at the first harvest 130.25 grams and the second harvest 132.83 grams.

<p>Wheat <em>(Triticum aestivum)</em> is one of main food source with carbohydrates which is consumed by world people. The loss of wheat during storage is caused by pests attack. Flour beetle <em>(Tribolium castaneum)</em> is one of the main pests of wheat flour. Biological insectisidies is a solution to solve the attack of warehouse pests. The aim of research are to study the effectiveness of srikaya seeds on <em>T. castaneum</em> in wheat flour and to study the quality of wheat flour after the application srikaya seeds to <em>T. castaneum. </em>The research were be held in Pandan Rejo Village, Kebakkramat Sub-District, Karanganyar Regency on 105 asl altitude during September until October 2017. The research use Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors of four repetitions. Dose treatment for Srikaya seeds consist of four levels of controls, 2.5 g/100 g wheat, 5 g/100 g wheat, and 10 g/100 g of wheat and the form of application consist of two kinds are 0.5 mm srikaya seed and 1 mm srikaya seed. Research variables which are observed were toxicity srikaya seed, imago mortality, moisture content, wheight shrinkage of wheat, color of wheat, and odor of wheat. The result show that LD50 of srikaya seed on a form 0.5 mm is 3.97 g/100 g wheat and form 1 mm is 4.70 g/100 g wheat. The application of the srikaya seed to minimize changes in quality wheat. The lowest shrinkage weight is 2.43 g and highest on the control of wheat color 5.805 g. control treatment from while to white murky scales (2). Scent control treatment of wheat does not become musty semlling scented (1).</p>

This study aims to determine the effect of growth regulators Hormonik against Parthenocarpy process on three major varieties of pepper plants and to determine the effect of plant growth regulator that is optimum for the process Hormonik Parthenocarpy in three major varieties of chili. This research was conducted in Tanjung Selor, in January to May 2016. The design used in this study is completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors and nine replications. The first factor is the treatment Hormonik consisting of four levels ie 0 cc, 1 cc, 2 cc, 3 cc, the second factor is the variety Arielle, Darmais and Pilar. From the analysis of variance showed that the treatment Hormonik to varieties of very significant effect on the parameters of heavy fruit crop, the number of fruit crops, fruit length persampel and the number of seeds persampel first harvest, after a further test using LSD 5%, by weight of fruit crops and the amount of fruit planting the first crop was not significantly different, but significantly different with persampel fruit length and number of seeds persampel first harvest.

The  objective of the study was to obtain the combination of sucrose and kinetin concentration reducted in the best effect on Dendrobium explant. This research was conducted in laboratory of tissues culture in Balai Benih Induk Dinas Pertanian and Peternakan Provinsi Riau Pekanbaru from April to June 2015. The experiment was designed using completely randomized design (CRD), factorial consisting of two factors with three replications, the first factor was sucrose with four level respectively 0, 25, 50,75 g L-1 medium. The second factor was kinetin with four  level : 0, 0,1, 1,0, 10 mg L-1. The optimum interaction between effect of sucrose and kinetin for percentage of life explants, age bud formation, percentage of explant forming buds, the number of shoot, a percentage of explant producing root  was 50 g L-1 sucrose and 1,0 mg L-1  kinetin.  Application of sucrose significantly effect age of bud formation, percentage of explant forming buds, number of shoot, shoots high, percentage of explant producing  root, number of root, root high, root and shoot ratio (T/R Ratio). Sucrose at 50 g L-1 medium being the best consentration and Kinetin 1,0 mg L-1   being the best consentration.

The aim of research to determine the effect of urea and SP-36 fertilizer as well as their interaction on the graftedrubber seedling growth, and to find appropriate doses of urea and SP-36 fertilizers for better growth of grafted rubber seedlings.The research was conducted from February 2015 until May 2015 in the village of Empas, Sub District of Melak, West Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan Province.The study design used was completely randomized design (CRD) in a factorial 4 x 4, and repeat 3 times, which comprises two factors research. The first factor was Urea (N), consisted of four levels, namely: no urea application or control (n0), 2,5g/polybag (n1), 5g/polybag (n2), and 7,5g/polybag (n3).  The second factor was SP-36 fertilizer (P), consisting of 4 levels, namely: no SP-36 fertilizers application or control (p0), 2,5g/polybag (p1), 5g/polybag (p2), and 7,5g/polybag (p3).The results showed that the treatment of urea (N) affects highly significant on the plant height at ages of 2, 3 and 4 months after grafting, number of leaf at 4 months after grafting and stem diameter at 3 and 4 months after grafting. It affected significantly on the number of leaf at 3 months after grafting.  But it did not affect significantly on the number of leaf at 2 months after grafting, and stem diameter at 2 months after grafting.SP-36 fertilizer treatments (P) affected very significantlyon the stem diameter at 3 and 4 months after grafting.  It affected significantly on the plant height at 4 months after grafting. But it did not affect significantly on the seedling height at 2 and 3 months after grafting, number of leaves at 2, 3 and 4 months after grafting, and stem diameter at 2 months after grafting.The interaction treatment (NXP) affected significantly on the stem diameter at 4 months after grafting.  But it did not affect significantly on the seedling height at 2, 3 and 4 months after grafting, number of leaves at 2, 3 and 4 months after grafting, and stem diameter at 2 and 3 months after grafting
