ABSTRACT We use the Separate Universe technique to calibrate the dependence of linear and quadratic halo bias b1 and b2 on the local cosmic web environment of dark matter haloes. We do this by measuring the response of halo abundances at fixed mass and cosmic web tidal anisotropy α to an infinite wavelength initial perturbation. We augment our measurements with an analytical framework developed in earlier work that exploits the near-lognormal shape of the distribution of α and results in very high precision calibrations. We present convenient fitting functions for the dependence of b1 and b2 on α over a wide range of halo mass for redshifts 0 ≤ z ≤ 1. Our calibration of b2(α) is the first demonstration to date of the dependence of non-linear bias on the local web environment. Motivated by previous results that showed that α is the primary indicator of halo assembly bias for a number of halo properties beyond halo mass, we then extend our analytical framework to accommodate the dependence of b1 and b2 on any such secondary property that has, or can be monotonically transformed to have, a Gaussian distribution. We demonstrate this technique for the specific case of halo concentration, finding good agreement with previous results. Our calibrations will be useful for a variety of halo model analyses focusing on galaxy assembly bias, as well as analytical forecasts of the potential for using α as a segregating variable in multitracer analyses.

The chronology study of the cemetery of Marquises of Jin is valuable to improving the chronological table of Marquis of Jin family. It is also helpful for improving the chronological table of the Zhou Dynasty. The samples were measured at Peking University (PKUAMS). We also made an interlaboratory check with Isotrace to ensure the accuracy. By careful analysis of archaeological information, we built different models and calibrated by OxCal. The calibration results, both sampling contexts and estimations, are in very good agreement with the historical record. Because the dates of some events correspond to the special part of the curve, the calibration gets very high precision. The calibration result of tomb M93 suggests that its host is Marquis Shangshu instead of Marquis Wen.

The goal of generative models is to learn the intricate relations between the data to create new simulated data, but current approaches fail in very high dimensions. When the true data-generating process is based on physical processes, these impose symmetries and constraints, and the generative model can be created by learning an effective description of the underlying physics, which enables scaling of the generative model to very high dimensions. In this work, we propose Lagrangian deep learning (LDL) for this purpose, applying it to learn outputs of cosmological hydrodynamical simulations. The model uses layers of Lagrangian displacements of particles describing the observables to learn the effective physical laws. The displacements are modeled as the gradient of an effective potential, which explicitly satisfies the translational and rotational invariance. The total number of learned parameters is only of order 10, and they can be viewed as effective theory parameters. We combine N-body solver fast particle mesh (FastPM) with LDL and apply it to a wide range of cosmological outputs, from the dark matter to the stellar maps, gas density, and temperature. The computational cost of LDL is nearly four orders of magnitude lower than that of the full hydrodynamical simulations, yet it outperforms them at the same resolution. We achieve this with only of order 10 layers from the initial conditions to the final output, in contrast to typical cosmological simulations with thousands of time steps. This opens up the possibility of analyzing cosmological observations entirely within this framework, without the need for large dark-matter simulations.

ABSTRACT The free streaming motion of dark matter particles imprints a cutoff in the matter power spectrum and set the scale of the smallest dark matter halo. Recent cosmological N-body simulations have shown that the central density cusp is much steeper in haloes near the free streaming scale than in more massive haloes. Here, we study the abundance and structure of subhaloes near the free streaming scale at very high redshift using a suite of unprecedentedly large cosmological N-body simulations, over a wide range of the host halo mass. The subhalo abundance is suppressed strongly below the free streaming scale, but the ratio between the subhalo mass function in the cutoff and no cutoff simulations is well fitted by a single correction function regardless of the host halo mass and the redshift. In subhaloes, the central slopes are considerably shallower than in field haloes, however, are still steeper than that of the NFW profile. Contrary, the concentrations are significantly larger in subhaloes than haloes and depend on the subhalo mass. We compare two methods to extrapolate the mass–concentration relation of haloes and subhaloes to z = 0 and provide a new simple fitting function for subhaloes, based on a suite of large cosmological N-body simulations. Finally, we estimate the annihilation boost factor of a Milky-Way-sized halo to be between 1.8 and 6.2.

Abstract In this new procedure for determining the activity of N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminidase (EC 3.2.1.30; NAG) in urine, a new synthetic substrate, 2-chloro-4-nitrophenyl-N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminide is used. No sample blank is required because the activity is determined kinetically. Very high precision is possible, with CVs of less than 3.8% both within-run and between-run. Glucose, ascorbic acid, bilirubin, bromosulfonphthalein, and phenosulfonphthalein do not interfere. The reference interval (mean +/- 2 SD) for healthy subjects was 1.9-11.1 U per gram of creatinine. NAG activity can be determined over a wide range (2-500 U/L) with high sensitivity. The method is suitable for use with various automated analyzers, and it should be useful for screening for renal diseases.

IntroductionThere have been several t.e.m. studies (1,2,3,4) of the dislocation arrangements in the matrix and around the particles in dispersion strengthened single crystals deformed in single slip. Good agreement has been obtained in general between the observed structures and the various theories for the flow stress and work hardening of this class of alloy. There has been though some difficulty in obtaining an accurate picture of these arrangements in the case when the obstacles are large (of the order of several 1000's Å). This is due to both the physical loss of dislocations from the thin foil in its preparation and to rearrangement of the structure on unloading and standing at room temperature under the influence of the very high localised stresses in the vicinity of the particles (2,3).This contribution presents part of a study of the Cu-Cr-SiO2 system where age hardening from the Cu-Cr and dispersion strengthening from Cu-Sio2 is combined.

In recent years an increasing emphasis has been placed on the study of high temperature intermetallic compounds for possible aerospace applications. One group of interest is the B2 aiuminides. This group of intermetaliics has a very high melting temperature, good high temperature, and excellent specific strength. These qualities make it a candidate for applications such as turbine engines. The B2 aiuminides exist over a wide range of compositions and also have a large solubility for third element substitutional additions, which may allow alloying additions to overcome their major drawback, their brittle nature.One B2 aluminide currently being studied is cobalt aluminide. Optical microscopy of CoAl alloys produced at the University of Missouri-Rolla showed a dramatic decrease in the grain size which affects the yield strength and flow stress of long range ordered alloys, and a change in the grain shape with the addition of 0.5 % boron.

For millennia, humans have used hundreds of medicinal plants to treat diseases. Currently, many species with important characteristics are known to alleviate a wide range of health problems, mainly in rural areas, where the use of these resources is very high, even replacing scientific medicine almost completely. This paper presents the dehydration of medicinal plants that are grown in the State of Campeche through direct and indirect solar technologies in order to evaluate the influence of air flow and temperature on the color of the final product through the L* a* scale. b*, analyzing the activity of water and humidity during the drying process. The experimental results showed that the direct solar dryer with forced convection presents a little significant color change in a drying time of 400 min on average, guaranteeing the null bacterial proliferation and reaching a final humidity between 9 % and 11 %.

ABSTRACT Perturbation theory is an indispensable tool for studying the cosmic large-scale structure, and establishing its limits is therefore of utmost importance. One crucial limitation of perturbation theory is shell-crossing, which is the instance when cold-dark-matter trajectories intersect for the first time. We investigate Lagrangian perturbation theory (LPT) at very high orders in the vicinity of the first shell-crossing for random initial data in a realistic three-dimensional Universe. For this, we have numerically implemented the all-order recursion relations for the matter trajectories, from which the convergence of the LPT series at shell-crossing is established. Convergence studies performed at large orders reveal the nature of the convergence-limiting singularities. These singularities are not the well-known density singularities at shell-crossing but occur at later times when LPT already ceased to provide physically meaningful results.
