Understanding the complex phenomena related to environmental damage requires multidisciplinary analyzes capable of producing different scientific perspectives. Based on the problems arising from issues involving environmental damage to natural resources, Flores, Konrad and Flores (2017) evaluated the studies about green criminology globally, using articles retrieved from indexed publications and available in digital databases. The present study aimed to survey the contributions that were added since the previous survey, to contribute to the understanding of what constitutes the essence of green criminology. To meet this purpose, we analyzed scientific articles published after the period investigated by Flores, Konrad and Flores (2017), which also allowed the comparison with the existing data. We employed a qualitative approach and the methodological procedure was a systematic bibliographic review. We concluded that in the last three years there has been an advance in studies about green criminology. Still, there has been a limited number of studies published in this area. Research on the theory may be limited by political and geographical issues that inhibit the plurality of spatial and local perceptions regarding the theme. Also, they restrict preventive actions to environmental damage due to lack of knowledge and research, as the theory acts directly on preventive measures and protection of nature.

Users on the social media can share positive as well as negative information intentionally and unintentionally in the form of multimedia content without knowing its impact on other user, which threatens the security and privacy of social media. Cyberbullying is one of the risks associated with social media. Cyberbullying is an aggressive act carried out intentionally against the victim by posting harmful material on social media to harm his/her reputation. Aggressive act creates depression, anxiety in users which may lead to diversion of attention and sometimes suicidal actions. In this paper the authors have included a survey on recent algorithms which work on detection of cyberbullying. State-of-the-art studies only focus on the detection of cyberbullying but not on the preventive measures against cyberbullying. In order to tackle this problem, the authors showed how the severity of the bullying in messages helps to find the real culprit.

Complacency has been recognised as a cause of maritime accidents, and there is a need to develop and execute relevant preventive measures. The effectiveness of preventive actions depends on the contribution of the seafarers. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to identify causes and elicit proposals for preventing complacency by officers in charge of the engineering watch. A total of 63 Croatian engineering officers participated in four deliberative workshops, facilitated by an expert in the teaching of leadership and management. As causes of complacency, intensive workload, poor knowledge/understanding of the equipment, steep authority gradient, lack of collaboration, poor communication, efficiency-thoroughness trade-off, crewing strategies, and lack of organisational justice were identified. Efficient training on workload management, adequate familiarisation, reporting issues with technology, producing one’s own manuals, more effective leadership courses, more emphasis on non-technical skills as criteria for a promotion, joint workshops on teamwork for land-based managers and seafarers, open and objective performance evaluation, and direct communication between land-based managers and seafarers were proposed as feasible preventive measures. Human-centred design and standardisation of the equipment were evaluated as unlikely to be feasible. Some practical implications from the findings were discussed.

The Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) started OECD/NEA ROSA Project in 2005 to resolve issues in the thermal-hydraulic analyses relevant to LWR safety through the experiments of ROSA/LSTF in JAEA. More than 17 organizations from 14 NEA member countries have joined the Project. The ROSA Project intends to focus on the validation of simulation models and methods for complex phenomena that may occur during DBEs and beyond-DBE transients. Twelve experiments are to be conducted in the six types. By utilizing the obtained data, the predictability of codes is validated. Nine experiments have been performed so far in the ROSA Project to date. The results of two out of these experiments; PV top and bottom small-break (SB) LOCA simulations are studied here, through comparisons with the results from pre-test and post-test analyses by using the RELAP5/MOD3.2 code as a typical and well-utilized/improved best estimate (BE) code. The experimental conditions were defined based on the pre-test (blind) analysis. The comparison with the experiment results may clearly indicate a state of the art of the code to deal with relevant reactor accidents. The code predictive capability was verified further through the post-test analysis. The obtained issues in the utilization of the RELAP5 code are summarized as well as the outline of the ROSA Project.

Abstract The aim of this paper is to explore Crowdfunding as a new form of Open Innovation for SMEs and family business in the Agri-Food sector which usually do not have the same skills and tools to operate with conventional own Crowdsourcing methods. The study first has analyzed the principal literature and data available on Crowdfunding and the Food industry in order to describe the state of the art in this subject. Afterwards the focus of the paper goes to the analysis of the Italian case. The study used a deep qualitative approach because of an important lack of data and information on this subject. Nine depth interviews to key informants of the sector have been carried out investigating the market players, the normative regulations, the businesses models and the evolution of Crowdfunding for the Agri-Food industry in Italy. The research finds that Crowdfunding for Agri-Food industry can be important for both its profitability and the development of the sector, but that nowadays the Italian market is still in its primordial phase. Crowdfunding is very suitable for SMEs business which represents the vast majority of the Agri-Food Italian market and the use of this instrument could be beneficial for it.

Abstract Background Managers may prevent Common Mental Disorders (CMDs) among their subordinates due to their authority to influence the work environment. Yet, their perspective has received only limited attention in research. This study aims to increase managers’ capacity to contribute to the prevention of CMDs by exploring the determinants of two managerial preventive actions: ’reviewing assignments and the work situation’ (MPA-review) and ’taking initiative to talk about depression and anxiety at work’ (MPA-talk). Methods An online survey was sent to 4,737 Swedish managers, aged 20-65 years (71% participated, n = 3,358) in 2017, of which 2,921 were included as they answered the MPA-items. Ten possible determinants of MPAs, comprising person-, work-, and competence-related characteristics of managers were related to performing MPAs (yes or no). Bivariate and multivariate binary logistic regression was performed to test associations (OR with 95% CI) between each determinant and MPAs. We have adjusted for experience-related characteristics of managers and company size. Results 50% of managers initiated MPA-review and 57% MPA-talk. Managers had a higher odds to initiate respectively MPA-review and MPA-talk when being female (OR 1.42, 95% CI 1.17-1.73; OR 1.33, 95% CI 1.08-1.64), working in organizations offering lectures on CMDs (OR 1.36, 95% CI 1.01-1.83; OR 1.84, 95% CI 1.30-2.60) or stress counselling (OR 1.79, 95% 1.46-2.20; OR 1.53, 95% CI 1.22-1.91), having responsibility for the work environment (OR 1.42, 95% CI 1.15-1.74; OR 1.44, 95% CI 1.16-1.79), or having had received training on CMDs (OR 1.56, 95% CI 1.27-1.93; OR 1.61, 95% CI 1.28-2.03). Conclusions Managers report taking more actions to prevent CMDs in their workforce when they are female, have received training on CMDs or work in organisations where CMD preventive measures have been implemented. Key messages Organizations could invest in company-wide preventive measures and training to enable MPAs. Managerial education should include information on CMDs in order to improve managers’ preventive capacity.
