The vocational placement of blind persons who are 65 years of age or older presents the counselor with an unusual challenge. The statistical data on the desirability of hiring older workers is reviewed, along with pointers on responding to employers’ objections. Older blind persons who desire remunerative employment fall into four groups, each requiring a different level of placement services: minimal, average, sheltered, and special. The relationship of past work experience to new job possibilities is also explored.

Abstract. The aim of this work is to investigate the relationship between indicators of cicatricial digestion and linearity of cows. Methods. The research was carried out in the breeding enterprises of the Sverdlovsk region on the livestock of Ural-type cows. Cicatricial fluid was collected with an oropharyngeal rubber probe, and a wooden yaw was also used. Cicatricial content was assessed at the Chelyabinsk Interregional Veterinary Laboratory. The pH value was determined by the electrometric method, VFA – in the Markgam apparatus, ammonia – by the microdiffusion method. Ciliates – in Goryaev’s chamber and under a microscope, bacteria – under a microscope with the addition of sodium chloride solution. Statistical data processing was carried out in the Microsoft Office Excel 2010 program. Results. In terms of the number of ciliates and bacteria in the rumen fluid, the Montwick Chieftain cows, characterized by high productive qualities, had an advantage. In terms of pH and VFA, the Vis Back Ideal line was the best. There were no significant differences between the groups in terms of the amount of ammonia in the rumen. The best animals from the point of view of influence on cicatricial metabolism were the animals of the Vis Back Ideal and Montwick Chieftain lineage. Scientific novelty. Studies have shown that linearity is associated with cicatricial digestion in cows. The relationship of bull lines with indicators of cicatricial metabolism of cows has been determined for the first time. The food in the rumen is digested due to the action of bacteria, ciliates, and fungi. An environment has been created in the rumen for the active development of microflora. Bacteria are able to synthesize amino acids and vitamins. The proventriculus can contain up to 50 species of ciliates.

With the graying workforce worldwide, identifying factors that facilitate older workers’ health is critically important. We examined whether gardening mitigates the relationship of work–family conflict with disability, chronic conditions, depressive symptoms, and self-rated health among older workers. We drew a subsample of older workers aged 55 years and above from the Health and Retirement Study ( N = 1,598). Our results indicate that the relationships of work-to-family conflict at baseline with disability and with poorer self-rated health at a 2-year follow-up were stronger for those who gardened less than those who gardened more. No significant interaction was found between family-to-work conflict and gardening in predicting the health outcomes. This study is the first to show that gardening may have a protective effect against the adverse impact of work-to-family conflict on older workers’ health.

The relationship of work to the needs—especially psychological—of clients is explored. It is concluded that full evaluation and testing of the individual should he used to develop a specific rehabilitation program for him. Such a program might include intensive training and counseling, as in the case of most congenitally blind high school graduates, preparatory to placement or placement early in the program where the role played by work itself is an important part of the person's rehabilitation. The problem of individuals with unrealistic vocational goals is also discussed.

The current study aims at finding out the reality of using modern teaching methods in teaching Arabic for speakers of other languages from teachers’ perspective in the Language Center at the University of Jordan in terms of its availability and use as well as finding out the effect of variables such as qualification, work experience, and sex. The sample of the study included 26 teachers. The researcher uses a descriptive and analytical method because it is appropriate for the study. To achieve the goals of the study, the researcher designed a tool for the study that is made up of two parts; the first of which includes 23 modern teaching methods to show their availability and use. The second of which are the criteria that have to be taken into consideration when using a modern teaching method. To analyze the results of the study and to process its data statistically, arithmetic averages and standard deviations have been calculated. These findings show the reality of modern teaching methods in the Language Center at the University of Jordan. They also indicate that the use of modern teaching methods in teaching Arabic to speakers of other languages is restricted to a certain number of them, and that other methods are available. The findings also indicate that there are no statistically significant differences due to qualification except for the modern teaching methods and their relation to teachers as well as learners. The findings also indicate that thereare no statistically significant differences due to sex except for the relationship of modern teaching methods to teachers as well as to learners, which are in favor of females. The findings indicate that there are substantial statistical differences due to different experience and in favor of experienced teachers with 11 years of experience and more. Based on these findings, the researcher recommendsintroducing more modern teaching methods in teaching Arabic to speakers of other languages. He also recommends carrying out similar studies to identify the perspectives of teachers, learners, and the administration of centers and institutes concerned with teaching Arabic for speakers of other languages. These studies are necessaryto find out the reality of the use of modern teaching methods and their importance in teaching Arabic to speakers of other languages. The researcher stresses the necessity of having special labs for modern teaching methods in language centers.

The aim of present study was to explore the prevalence of workplace bullying in a sample of Pakistani employees. In addition, this research also aimed to determine the relationship of various demographics of employees with their experiences of bullying in order to identify risk groups. The study was conducted on a sample of 450 employees of Punjab who showed their willingness to participate. Their age ranged from 22 to 60 years (M=34.14, SD=9.17). An indigenously developed “workplace bullying scale” with demographic information sheet was administered to collect the data. Results showed that78% of employees reported experiences of workplace bulling. The findings of present study indicated that female employees, unmarried and young age employees, employees working at lower grades, employees with a low level of education and workers with little work experience are particularly at greater risk for becoming targets of bullying.

Globalization has placed modern organizations in tremendous competition locally and regionally across borders; thus, the ultimate goal of every organization is the same which is profitable survival. In order to make sure that this profitable survival goal does not come at the cost of harming others, guiding principles are needed to bring goodness and fairness for the stakeholders' interests. This paves the way for designing, implementing and adopting ethical principles in the organization to keep competition fair and just. This study has been carried out in three big cities (Peshawar, Lahore and Islamabad) of Pakistan to identify and assess the relationship of workplace ethics with age, qualification, management experience, government work experience and on-the-job ethics training. Collected data from 380 male and female Pakistani respondents were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical measures. The results indicate that there is a significant relationship between ethical maturity of employees and such demographic variables as age, qualification, on-the-job ethics training, having had an ethics course, and years of management experience. However, government work experience did not demonstrate any significant results with ethical maturity. Implications and suggestions for management development and training are provided.

The relationships between older employees' willingness to continue working and characteristics of the work environment for older workers were investigated, as well as a possible mediation by intrinsic motivation. 103 employees ages 50 to 65 years, from various sectors of the Dutch labor market, completed questionnaires that measured willingness to continue working, intrinsic motivation, organizational stimulation, work variety, work challenge, and job autonomy. Hierarchical regression analyses showed organizational stimulation, as well as the various job characteristics, were positively related to employees' willingness to continue working. Moreover, intrinsic motivation fully mediated the relationship of work variety with willingness to continue working and partially mediated the relationships of organizational stimulation, work challenge, and job autonomy with willingness to continue working. It was concluded that organizations can encourage older workers to work until age 65 and beyond by shifting their focus from extrinsic to intrinsic rewards.

ABSTRACT The fact that dentists are prone to commit suicide has been repeated so many times both in the specialist press and in the mass media that by carrying out a search on the internet, we found that large amount of news considered it to be true. The high suicide rate associated with our profession is treated in diverse ways in the scientific literature myth for few, generally dentists, and statistical data which need further studies for others. In this review we will try to analyse the scientific weight of the studies, searching for factors that may allow us to discover the relationship of the profession to the risk of suicide, analyzing the factors that are linked with dental activities.

Abstract. Spatial information became ordinary for everyday life, for example in different kinds of maps. The majority of maps are produced for reading with eyes. Nevertheless, people with visual impairment, including blind people, perceive the world differently and have an insufficient amount of possible ways how to investigate the surroundings.

Creating a tactile map for people with visual impairment and blind people is conceptually different, more expensive and more difficult comparing to normal maps. This is why researches in cartography focus the question how spatial information can be effectively presented to visually impaired people using modern technologies.

One of the solutions seems to be progress in modern 3D tactile-cartography linkable to the mobile device, such as smartphones and tablets. The modern mobile technologies with the internet connection and GNSS navigation brought new possibilities how to convert spatial information into voice quickly. Navigations use vibrations to provide the actual information, and other technologies help to make the 3D presentations of the geospace more accessible.

At the Department of Geoinformatics, Faculty of Science, Palacký University Olomouc, Czechia, several tactile maps were produced under the leadership of Vit Vozenilek, both interactive and non-interactive ones.

Cartographic semiology deals with a theory of cartographic symbols and their use. This theory is based primarily on the general semiology (the science of symbols), theoretical cartography, information theory, cybernetics and engineering psychology. To the various disciplines of semiology belong semantics, which represents the relation between the map symbol to the content what it means, sigmatics, which defines the relationship of map symbols to the function expressed in terms of real content, syntactic, which describes the interactions of map symbols, grammar, that deals with the composition rule and specifies the map symbol to the system, and pragmatics, which describes the relationship of users to the map symbol system. It is necessary to design and apply specific methods of cartographic visualization that will be suitable for persons who are blind or have a serious visual impairment. Therefore, there is a significant need for adaptation to the target user needs.

Analogically to the traditional cartography, the fundamental unit of tactile cartographic semiology is a tactile map symbol. Comparing to conventional map symbol the tactile map symbols have an extra specific 3D features, including the vertical dimension, roughness and texture. The specific design of the tactile map symbol depends on the applied technology – special tactile paper printers, plastic foils, metal engravings or modern type of 3D printing technology. Characteristics of tactile map symbols are used with regard to the possibilities of these technologies as well as in relation to the needs of the target group of users.

Within the project Perception of the geospace by the modern type of tactile maps the sampler designed characters by 51 respondents (31 blind persons and 20 persons with hard visually impairments) was tested. There were examples of different lines, different textures and point map symbols (Fig. 3). Part of these symbols was identified by respondents as most satisfactory, some of the characters were identified as unsatisfactory. These were mainly badly recognisable structures, lines unrecognisable by touch, confusing dotting, etc.

During the implementation of the project Development of independent movement through tactile-auditory aids, the gained knowledge was applied to the production of modern, tactile maps linked to the mobile technology (smartphone, tablet, etc.). Because the modern tactile maps using TouchIt3D technology (Barvir, 2017; Barvir et al., 2018) require many different sizes of 3D map objects, also the map symbols have to be different.

Preliminary results of the user testing provide new information about map symbol perception by people with visual impairment, using a new type of 3D tactile maps created with TouchIt3D technology. Testing and prototyping are ongoing, and the conference contribution will bring the latest research results.
