The Role of Independent Work in the Formation of Professional Reliability of Future Engineers

The article emphasizes the importance of the cadets’ foreign language training at military educational institution. It is noted that the formation of the foreign language competence is one of the most promising areas in the field of the future military specialists’ training. The author pays attention to the need of selecting the content of the foreign language course in accordance with specific methodological and general didactic principles. Different ways of organizing independent work for the successful development of students’ foreign language competence are considered. In the author's opinion, it is particularly urgent for cadets to master communicative and socio-cultural competences in terms of developing foreign language competence.

The work is devoted to the problem of intensification of teaching Russian as a foreign language in the process of formation and development of the lexical competence of students. The role of educational dictionaries of various types is emphasized. The Experimental Electronic Multilingual Dictionary of Military Terms is presented. It is based on ABBYY Lingvo software for teaching Russian to foreign students of military universities. His vocabulary includes a special vocabulary describing various segments of military activity (weapons, equipment, commands, military life, etc.). For each word there are translations into European languages (boi - English batttle, combat; French combat (m); Portuguese combate) and Asian languages (Laos ; Arabic ; Pashto ). The potential of an electronic multilingual dictionary in the implementation of multicultural and professionally oriented teaching of Russian as a foreign language in a non-linguistic university is identified. The role of the electronic translated multilingual thesaurus in the formation of speech professional competence, which ensures the removal of language barriers in the study of military-technical sciences by foreigners, is determined. The universality of the dictionary is characterized. It was created taking into account those national languages whose speakers receive special education in Russian military universities, and provides opportunities for the redistribution of classroom and independent work of students. Its effectiveness has been proven as a tool for modern interactive, multilingual and multicultural education.

Today, there is a rapid increase in education, therefore, knowledge of foreign languages has become one of the main problems in monitoring the development of the global information and digital economy in our country. Therefore, to improve the foreign language, various pedagogical technologies and methods of teaching the language are used. We know that oral and written speech skills are skills that can be achieved with great difficulty. This project analyses the development of oral and written speech using pedagogical technologies and teaching text types. Particular attention is paid to the development of students' communication skills using pedagogical technologies. These technologies help students gain confidence in self-expression. Therefore, the use of these technologies in lessons effectively develops oral and written speech, provides communication and an exciting learning process.

The aim of the article is to study the advantages of media education technologies in the training of future foreign language teachers due to the fact that the current stage of society highlights the education of the individual who must effectively select and concentrate information, process it and create new, separate useful from unnecessary ways and programs for their solution. Therefore, today it is not enough to use video, audio, press and information and communication technologies when teaching future foreign language teachers only for the development of oral and written speech. It is necessary to pay attention to the development of visual and critical media literacy of students, based on the main objectives of media education. The article considers the problems of formation of professional competence of the future teacher of a foreign language by means of media education. The author analyzes the principles and functions of media education as the main components of professional media education of the future foreign language teacher. The peculiarities of the introduction and rational use of the latest media educational technologies in the professional training of future foreign language teachers are revealed. Their influence on the educational process and the need to update the role of the teacher in modern conditions of pedagogical activity are analyzed. The relevance of the article is determined by the dynamic trends in the introduction of media in the educational process. The integrated use of media education technologies motivates future foreign language teachers to master their profession, gives them the opportunity to acquire and develop new skills and abilities. The inclusion of the study of media education technologies in the initial program of the Faculty of Foreign Languages will promote the rational use of media education in future professional activities, critical evaluation of information, the ability to analyze and recognize media texts, and learn about new trends in teaching their subject. Improving knowledge in the field of media educational technologies, acquiring knowledge of pedagogical development of personality and awareness of the role and place of teachers in the educational process provides an opportunity to intensify and motivate student learning activities and gain initial pedagogical experience.


The article defined the role of Foresight-studies in the current conditions of higher education system development. Different types of Foresight-studies in different countries and their application for educational purposes are analyzed. Methods of conducting foresight research are revealed on the basis of which the most common among them are: Delphi method, SWOT analysis, Information flow analysis, Focus Group Technique, Expert Panels, Scenario Planning, Highlight Key Technologies, Technology Mapping, Development of Roadmaps, Source Scanning, “Analysis of Global Trends”, “PEST Analysis”, “Reverse Scenarios” etc. It is stated that the foresight can be called a technology of constructive attitude towards the future. It involves the development of a system of private forecasts in the most important areas of scientific and technological progress and a comprehensive forecast of scientific and technological development. The article gives examples of university Foresight-studies and their role in forming a modern specialist with forecasting skills. The focus of the study is pay special attention on the Foresight-study conducted at the School of Foreign Languages of V. N. Kharkiv National University entitled “Strategy for the Development of Education at The School of Foreign Languages”. The study was carried out using the Delphi method and included an online survey (digital questionnaire) created in Google forms and included two stages. The first stage was aimed at revealing the general direction of the development of the educational process, and the second stage was aimed at specifying teaching strategies that could be used in the future by the School of Foreign Languages. The survey was attended by 105 people who work or study at the university. It is established that the priority directions of development of educational process at the School of Foreign Languages may be: introduction of the latest digital technologies into the educational process; increase of teaching efficiency and distribution of time between participants of educational process (transformation of the role of the lecturer); communicative aspect through improvement of teaching methods at the School of Foreign Languages, namely the involvement of foreign language speakers in teaching and practice, conducting more foreign language activities, changing the criteria for assessing students’ success by foreign models.

The article deals with the analysis of the content of professionally oriented teaching of foreign languages to students of non-linguistic specialities at higher educational establishments. It has been proved the content of teaching a foreign language includes the following: the spheres of communicative activity, topics and situations, linguistic acts and language material which take into account the professional development of students; language material (phonetic, lexical, grammatical and orphographic), the rules of its formation and habits of its operating; a complex of special (speech) skills which characterize the level of practical acquisition of a foreign language as a means of communication including inter-cultural situations; the system of knowledge of the national and cultural peculiarities of foreign countries. A foreign language in this context serves a means of improvement of the professional competence and individual and professional development of students and it is a necessary condition of their successful professional activity. The main aim of professionally oriented teaching of foreign languages in conditions of globalization is to ensure an active acquisition of a foreign language by students of non-linguistic specialities as a means of formation and formulation of thoughts in the sphere of an everyday communication and in the sphere of a corresponding speciality.

The relevance of this article derives from the consideration of the problem of development of students’ intercultural communication skills under significant influence of the globalization process on the development of higher education system, especially in those universities where there is a rapid growth of the export of learning services. Foreign language is thought of as the main means of intercultural communication. The object of this paper is to analyze the process of formation of intercultural communication, modern value attitudes towards foreign culture and its bearers among students with allowance for the reality of learning experiences in an agricultural university. The consideration of this issue made it possible to determine modern methods and forms of work in practical classes in a foreign language which will facilitate a solution to the problem. The authors of the article point out that industrial work placement abroad is an effective tool to develop intercultural communication skills. The role of a teacher is considered to be a key one in the formation of students’ intercultural communication skills.

The article examines the problem of professional development of future officers of the penal system of the Russian Federation. The subject of the article is the personal and professional competence of penal system officers. The purpose of the article is to describe the pedagogical problems of the formation of personal and professional competence of the staff of the penal system at the stage of professional training. The methodological basis of the study was the analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature on the topic of the work, questionnaires, and generalization of pedagogical experience. As a result of the work carried out, the concept of personal and professional competence was analyzed, the role of subjective activity in its formation was shown, the necessity of targeted formation of pedagogical competence in future staff of the penal system was substantiated; approaches to the integrated assessment of the personal and professional competence of students were formulated. The solution of the above pedagogical problems will have a positive effect on the formation of the personal and professional competence of students, which ensures the effective further service activities of the FPS staff. Conclusions are drawn about the need for changes in the pedagogical process of training future staff of the penal system of the Russian Federation in the following areas: updating of the training technologies, enhancing the personal resources of students, organizing a system of independent work.
