Introduction. The success of enterprises depends on many factors. One of the most important among them is the level of managers’ competencies. This level directly determines the quality of management decisions that are made and implemented at enterprises, and, accordingly, determines the efficiency of using their resources. Under such conditions, the assessment of the development potential of the managerial staff of enterprises based on the analysis of their competencies makes it possible to simultaneously establish reserves for improving the performance of these enterprises. Purpose. This study aims at developing and testing methodological principles for assessing the development potential of the enterprises` management personnel based on the analysis of management competencies. Results. Approaches to grouping the main competencies of employees of the enterprise management subsystem have been established. The necessity to determine the list of partial managerial competencies for each general managerial competence has been substantiated. It has been shown that for this purpose it is possible to apply the method of dividing the general administrative competence into separate stages of its realization. The sequence of diagnosing the level of competencies of the employees of the enterprise management subsystem has been offered. An indicator for assessing the managers’ level by the entire set of general competencies has been developed. Grading of separate characteristics of special competences of the employees of the enterprise management subsystem has been offered. Peculiarities of diagnosing managerial competencies concerning the substantiation of planned indicators of the enterprise activity have been determined. The obtained results have been tested on the example of a number of enterprises. Conclusions. Assessing the development potential of the enterprises` management personnel should include identifying opportunities to improve certain general and special competencies of managers of these enterprises. For this purpose, it is necessary to identify the main competencies, establish the relationship between them, and perform their quantification. To solve these problems, the methodological principles of assessing the development potential of the enterprises` management personnel, developed in this paper, can be used.

This article summarizes the scientific approaches to improving the quality of relations between the enterprise and business partners in preparation for the release and production of new products in today's economic realities. The study's main purpose is to substantiate and develop a methodological approach for determining effective relationship models between enterprises and business partners to prepare and produce new products. The article presents a developed four-stage methodological approach. The first stage of the study presents an analysis of existing approaches to forming relationships between the enterprise and business-business partners to prepare and produce new products. In the second stage, factual data on machine-building industry enterprises' functioning were collected to determine the effectiveness of cooperation and success, which are the key components that improve the quality of relations between the enterprise and business partners in preparing new products. At the third stage, partners' priority was determined to characterize the quality of the relationship between machine-building enterprises and business-business partners. The fourth stage determined the relationship between the qualitative levels of business partners' priority and appropriate relationship models to prepare and produce new products. The study used expert methods, multidimensional factor analysis, additive convolution method, structural-logical method, graphical method. A survey of enterprise representatives was conducted to assess the effectiveness of cooperation on 12 surveyed machine-building enterprises. Partial indicators were identified and substantiated by multidimensional factor analysis, generalized for making decisions about business partner enterprises' existing opportunities to prepare and produce new products. Based on the calculation of the integrated indicator, partners' priority was determined. That characterized the quality of relations between machine-building enterprises and business-business partners in preparing and producing new products. According to the Harrington scale specified for the economic conditions of Ukraine, the qualitative levels of partner companies' priority were determined. The proposed effective models of relationships for preparing and producing new products are put in line with them. The study results could improve the quality and validity of the formation and maintenance of relationships between enterprises and business partners in preparing and producing new products.

To accelerate software development, developers frequently search and reuse existing code snippets from a large-scale codebase, e.g., GitHub. Over the years, researchers proposed many information retrieval (IR)-based models for code search, but they fail to connect the semantic gap between query and code. An early successful deep learning (DL)-based model DeepCS solved this issue by learning the relationship between pairs of code methods and corresponding natural language descriptions. Two major advantages of DeepCS are the capability of understanding irrelevant/noisy keywords and capturing sequential relationships between words in query and code. In this article, we proposed an IR-based model CodeMatcher that inherits the advantages of DeepCS (i.e., the capability of understanding the sequential semantics in important query words), while it can leverage the indexing technique in the IR-based model to accelerate the search response time substantially. CodeMatcher first collects metadata for query words to identify irrelevant/noisy ones, then iteratively performs fuzzy search with important query words on the codebase that is indexed by the Elasticsearch tool and finally reranks a set of returned candidate code according to how the tokens in the candidate code snippet sequentially matched the important words in a query. We verified its effectiveness on a large-scale codebase with ~41K repositories. Experimental results showed that CodeMatcher achieves an MRR (a widely used accuracy measure for code search) of 0.60, outperforming DeepCS, CodeHow, and UNIF by 82%, 62%, and 46%, respectively. Our proposed model is over 1.2K times faster than DeepCS. Moreover, CodeMatcher outperforms two existing online search engines (GitHub and Google search) by 46% and 33%, respectively, in terms of MRR. We also observed that: fusing the advantages of IR-based and DL-based models is promising; improving the quality of method naming helps code search, since method name plays an important role in connecting query and code.

ABSTRACT: Objective: Identify the reasons why the efforts on implementing university social responsibility (USR) in public universities have not been effective, as well as propose strategies to achieve a socially responsible behavior in such institutions. Material and method: The study consisted on two stages; in the first one, the Faculty Director participated; and in the second one, the participants were students and administrative workers. An interview guide was administered to the Director and the administrative workers, and an already validated questionnaire was applied to the students. Criteria for interpreting the frequency of qualitative responseswere used, as well as scales for quantitative ones. Results: The highest average score corresponds to quality of working life, followed by the relationship with users, care and preservation of the environment and the relationship with the community. From the perception of the students, the institution is more concerned about improving the quality of life of its employees and the relationship with users, but lacks involving in effectiveactionsincaringfor theenvironment as well as the improvement of the relationship and community linkage. Conclusions: The factors to implement successfully the USR are commitment and participation of the staff of the institution; the joint actions with other institutions; the emphasis on the environmental care; the participation of the institution in social activities; the satisfaction of the institution users, the fact of appreciating the importance of the institution for the development, aswell as keeping and improving the relationships with the government. However, it is also necessary to consider the ability of the authorities to negotiate with the professors, union and students, as well as to promote the institutional values, vision andmission.

This paper examines the relationship between corporate social responsibility and executive compensation disclosure quality. We test whether socially responsible firms disclose more transparent and detailed information about their executive compensation packages than firms that are less committed to social responsibility initiatives. Using a sample of 187 publicly listed Canadian firms, we find a positive relation between CSR and executive compensation disclosure quality. We also document a positive (negative) association between firm size (ownership concentration) and executive compensation disclosure. These findings support the conclusion that increased disclosure transparency reflects a companys social engagement towards its stakeholders.

Most of the studies in corporate governance in banks and other types of firms investigate board diversity and quality separately, without considering the possible relationship between these two. To fill this gap, this study investigates through a new methodological approach the level of quality and diversity of the boards of a sample of Italian banks using a proprietary hand-collected database; in addition, it examines the relationship between diversity and quality of boards to verify whether more diversity consistently relates to higher quality, in accordance with the regulatory approach. Evidence shows that especially small and mutual banks need to improve quality and diversity, as they probably suffer from their limited attractiveness to top profile directors. Moreover, on analyzing interrelations we find evidence of a positive association between board diversity and quality. In particular, financial skills and experience of directors improve the qualitative level of banking boards.

In recent years, after the rapid and chaotic suburbanization in the 1990s, public spaces were gradually appearing in the new suburbs of postsocialist Poland. It is worth verifying to what extent these spaces are used on a daily basis. This paper aims to present a method of measuring the utility value of recreational public spaces and to determine the relationship between the utility value of space and its publicness. It suggests models of publicness of the most community-friendly recreational public spaces in Warsaw suburbs. As the research shows, intended diversity has the greatest influence on the prosocial character of space. Proximity, on the other hand, does not influence utility value so much. Location at some distance from the main nodes of activity and the highest concentration of houses, but with safe pedestrian access, is of more importance and should be promoted as a condition of successful suburban recreational space. The main conclusion from the research is that the most community-friendly recreational spaces do not have to be fully public. The measurement tools used in analyzing socio-spatial relations contributes to the development of the academic methods of studying the quality of public space.

A modern enterprise must be ready for any changes that may arise under the influence of both internal and external influences, including uncertain ones. It must be able to get out of this unfavorable situation as quickly as possible. The proposed study is to confirm the hypothesis of the relationship between the level of uncertainty and the performance of an enterprise based on the use of the preventive preparedness regime. The work solves the following tasks: assessment of the level of uncertainty of the external environment, selected as an indicator of entropy; a methodology for choosing the financial and economic indicators of an enterprise for the formation of a preventive readiness mode is proposed; the existence of a relationship between the level of uncertainty and indicators of the preventive readiness regime has been empirically confirmed. The authors propose a variant of the enterprise’s transition to a state of so-called “maximum readiness”, in which it will feel “comfortable”. The concept of enterprise management in a situation of external uncertainty is presented. In accordance with this approach, the results of the analysis of financial, economic and social indicators of economically significant automobile enterprises located in various regions of Russia, included in the list of backbone and influencing the development of the region, have been investigated. The selected indicators were considered from the point of view of the possibility of applying to them the state of the maximum readiness mode in conditions of uncertainty, which provides an adaptive state of the enterprise and, accordingly, will allow maintaining and even increasing its position in the market in the presence of uncertainties. The proposed concept can be recommended to all firms and enterprises with an innovative focus since they are more susceptible to the adverse effects of uncertainties.

This paper aims to explore the relationship between corporate reputation and social responsibility (CSR) in selected large Croatian companies. The research is based on the theoretical framework that supports a thesis of their positive relationship. CSR is measured through economic, environmental, and social aspects and is primarily based on testing the relationship between CSR and financial performance to determine whether the relationship is positive, neutral or negative. Many researchers have concluded that it is generally positive, depending on which measures of financial performance are used. At the same time, corporate reputation is considered as a key mediator in the relationship between a firm's CSR and financial performance. In this concept of CSR, reputation is a global perception of a group of stakeholders, its assessment of the credibility of the organization's projection. Company reputations may vary from one stakeholder to another depending of their expectations, which are dynamic and likely to change over time. It is within this context of company relationships with its stakeholders that determines the level of reputation a company will develop over time. Thus corporate reputation will be directly and significantly related to CSR. Based on this hypothesis, they are a few objectives of this research. The first is to analyze the significance of the proposed corporate attributes according to company and customer perspective. For that purpose, seven practical and theoretical background attributes are selected and ranked - quality of products and services, corporate vision and strategy, quality of management leadership, labor force, financial performance, social and environmental responsibility, and corporate governance. Second is to propose indicators for each reputation attribute and rank them according to their significance collected by surveying large companies executives. Third is to analyze the correlation between socially responsible companies and their reputation. The research results show that one of the corporate attributes CSR - is ranked very low from the point of view of company executives and employees, but very high from the perspective of consumers. Among the indicators which represent socially responsible performance, financial performance is ranked first, followed by ecological and social performance. A positive relationship between financial performance and corporate reputation has been statistically confirmed; i.e., socially responsible Croatian large companies have better financial results measured by ROA, ROE, margin profit and EPS.
