This article discusses the development of the Charismatic church on the Christians life in Semarang City in 1970-2015 using historical methods and using social religion approach. Since its inception in 1970, the Charismatic church in the city of Semarang has had a major influence on the Christian life in the city. A series of innovations in worship and evangelism that are adapted to the times have made the Charismatic church much in demand by Christians in big cities, one of them is Semarang. Christian interest in the Charismatic church can be seen from the development of the number of Charismatic churches in the city of Semarang. One of the Charismatic churches that is experiencing rapid development is JKI Injil Kerajaan. In the beginning, there were 25 people in the congregations. One decade later it reached 3,557 people and continued to increase to 13,324 people on the next decade. This rapid development has brought significant changes to the Christians life in the city of Semarang. It can be seen, among others, from the increasing number of churches that are full of Charismatic churches at worship services. But on the other hand, the presence of Charismatic church with a new pattern of worship caused less harmonious relationship between non-Charismatic churches and charismatic churches as the result of the high increasing number of original church people who moved to the Charismatic church. It is because Christians in Semarang are mostly more interested in taking worship in the Charismatic church.

This research deals with the process of spatial development in the city of Depok, West Java and its relation to the government’s policy during 1970s – 1990s. Administratively, it has become a city which is separated from the capital Jakarta since 1999, but Depok is struggling to establish its own identity. In the beginning, Depok was designed to solve the urban problems of Jakarta. In the later period, Depok experienced a slow progress for new urban area. This is due to the government’s policy that continues to treat Depok as a supporting city of Jakarta. On the other hand, the presence of Universitas Indonesia in Depok fails to support the creation of an autonomous city of Depok.

The poverty rate of Jakarta society is increasingly worrisome. The increase in the number of urban poor affects the level of security, and social inclination. Posmodern tourism perspective photographed the other side of the urban poor in its role in developing tourism in the Old Town area of Jakarta. The existence of the urban poor like two sides of the coin. There are rich and poor, prosperous and prosperous, there is evil and good. This is correlated with the rapid development of the city of Jakarta. The urban poor are marginalized from the socio-economic aspect. The empirical facts of the urban poor population that exist in the Old Town area of Jakarta are looking for luck in the region. The limited capital, skills, and opportunities make the urban poor look for ways to survive. Postmodern tourism provides solutions to stakeholders related to urban poor communities in the Old Town of Jakarta. The solution reconciles that the urban poor become assets rather than problems. This concept became the focus of this research. The recommendation of this research tries to make urban poor society as an integrated part with management and development of Jakarta Old Town Area.

Keywords: urban poor society, postmodern tourism

ABSTRACT. Abstract Pesantren are often associated with backwardness and traditionalism in everything: facilities, technology, learning methods, and even the curriculum. For now, it seems like the traditional term for pesantren is no longer relevant enough. The pace of movement in the era of renewal marked by the rapid development of technology has demanded pesantren to make adjustments. However, on the one hand, when viewed from the direction of change, the reform efforts pursued by pesantren are not to erase the old tradition, but merely to add something new so that the old tradition and conditions can be maintained while accepting the presence of a new one. On the other hand, the reform efforts undertaken by pesantren have implications for the fact that the typical values of the pesantren are fading away.

This paper explores Arnold Schoenberg’s curious ambivalence towards Haydn. Schoenberg recognized Haydn as an important figure in the German serious music tradition, but never closely examined or clearly articulated Haydn’s influence and import on his own musical style and ethos, as he did with many other major composers. This paper argues that Schoenberg failed to explicitly recognize Haydn as a major influence because he saw Haydn as he saw himself, namely as a somewhat ungainly, paradoxical figure, with one foot in the past and one in the future. In his voluminous writings on music, Haydn is mentioned by Schoenberg far less frequently than Bach, Mozart, or Beethoven, and his music appears rarely as examples in Schoenberg’s theoretical texts. When Schoenberg does talk about Haydn’s music, he invokes — with tacit negativity — its accessibility, counterpoising it with more recondite music, such as Beethoven’s, or his own. On the other hand, Schoenberg also praises Haydn for his complex, irregular phrasing and harmonic exploration. Haydn thus appears in Schoenberg’s writings as a figure invested with ambivalence: a key member of the First Viennese triumvirate, but at the same time he is curiously phantasmal, and is accorded a peripheral place in Schoenberg’s version of the canon and his own musical genealogy.

This research deals with the development of self concept of Hiroko as the main character in Namaku Hiroko by Nh. Dini and tries to identify how Hiroko is portrayed in the story, how she interacts with other characters and whether she is portrayed as a character dominated by ”I” element or ”Me” element seen from sociological and cultural point of view. As a qualitative research in nature, the source of data in this research is the novel Namaku Hiroko (1967) and the data ara analyzed and presented deductively. The result of this analysis shows that in the novel, Hiroko as a fictional character is portrayed as a girl whose personality develops and changes drastically from ”Me” to ”I”. When she was still in the village l iving with her parents, she was portrayed as a obedient girl who was loyal to the parents, polite and acted in accordance with the social customs. In short, her personality was dominated by ”Me” self concept. On the other hand, when she moved to the city (Kyoto), she was portrayed as a wild girl no longer controlled by the social customs. She was firm and determined totake decisions of her won for her future without considering what other people would say about her. She did not want to be treated as object. To put it in another way, her personality is more dominated by the ”I” self concept.
