The paper aims to develop an econometric model for the routine diagnosis of enterprises' level of readiness for digital transformation (DT) on the example of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam. The use of questionnaires allowed obtaining quantitative estimates of SMEs' level of readiness for DT in Vietnam. Factor analysis with the principal component method determines the list of factors of SMEs' readiness for DT. The ranges of the level of preparedness in Vietnam were determined, resulting in the classification of enterprises in the groups of "Newcomers," "Learners," and "Leaders" according to their use of digital technology and smart manufacturing. The integral index made it possible to quantify the impact of DT's readiness on SMEs' sustainability. The study results revealed that the nature of the impact depends on the level of SMEs' readiness for DT.

The impact of new digital technologies creates challenges for the digital transformation process in company sustainability areas. The purpose of this study was to determine the degree of contribution of digital-transformation-enabling technologies to company sustainability areas of three pulp and paper manufacturing companies in Brazil and relate it to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through a systematic literature review based on the PRISMA method, we sought to assess the key concepts of sustainability and the implementation of digital transformation (DT) through its enabling digital technologies. A field study was conducted in three Brazilian pulp and paper companies to assess the degree of contribution. They are leading companies in the paper and cellulose industry in Brazil. The results obtained indicate that the companies in this sample are still in a growth process regarding the use of digital technologies in their sustainability areas. Only one digital technology, cloud computing, appears relevant in one of the companies studied, which differs from the theoretical framework presented by the literature. To achieve the SDGs goals, countries, especially emerging ones, need to develop their technologies and their business and improve the results that relate to sustainability. The research method applied in this study can be replicated to other companies where the impact of digital transformation technologies on company sustainability is critical.

Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra of six document papers were classified by the chemometric technique of soft independent modelling of class analogy (SIMCA) using principal component analysis (PCA). The data were split into two regions, mid infrared (MIR, 2500–4000 cm−1) and the near infrared region (NIR, 4000–9000 cm−1). The raw data failed to produce an appreciable separation; hence it was pre-processed using derivatives and the multiple wavenumber ratios technique. The aim of this research was to determine the spectral region with the best discriminating power and evaluate the impact of data pre-processing techniques on the classification of paper. It was found that MIR (both raw and ratios) had higher discriminating ability than the NIR. The first derivatives and two ratios produced the best classifications. These results indicate that IR spectroscopy coupled with chemometric analyses can be effectively employed for the forensic classification of paper.

Organizations have already gone through a major digital transformation with the advent of the internet before. For many years they are incorporating technology in almost every aspect. The outbreak of global pandemic COVID-19 in the year 2020, which again disturbed the equilibrium, and forced the semi-automated and semi-digital legacy system-oriented organizations to shift radically towards digital transformation. In this paper, three major sectors have been covered– healthcare, financial services, and education which have undergone digital revolution effectively due to this pandemic. Digital Revolution has replaced or removed old ways of operations in those sectors and helped to reduce redundancies and waste of resources of any kind. Companies also face tremendous challenges regarding the adaptation of everything digital. The objectives of this paper are – to examine the impact of Digital shift in those sectors due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to predict the future prospect of the business with the current rate of incorporation with digital technology in these sectors, how managerial approaches when it comes to management functions like cost-effectiveness, leadership style, learning experiences have evolved to facilitate and incorporate this technology shift effectively. This research paper also studies the roadblocks faced by the organization on the way of digital transformation.

In the era of the digital economy, enterprises need a comprehensive digital transformation of strategy, business, organization, competence, and operation. However, being limited themselves to the development of digital technology, previous studies mainly focused on the development and application of digital technology, single case studies, and multi-case studies of digital transformation. Few researchers systematically studied the digital transformation mechanism at the organizational level. Therefore, this study explored the relationship between a strategic orientation and organizational performance though digital competence at the organizational level. To accomplish the task, this study basically constructed the dimensions of digital competence according to core competence theory. Digital competence contains three hub-factors: digital infrastructure, digital integration, and digital management. This study collected 160 questionnaires from Chinese enterprises and analyzed the data using SmartPLS 3. This study analyzed the positive relationship between digital strategic orientation, digital competence, and organization performance. This study identified the importance of digital competence through the empirical analysis of enterprises that are undergoing digital transformation or had completed a digital transformation. Therefore, enterprises need to pay attention to the impact of digital competence on organizational performance. Digital competence is a reshaping of corporate resources when facing a turbulent digital environment. Moreover, digital competence can ultimately achieve value delivery through the improvement of enterprise organizational performance.

The internationalisation process of European higher education over the past years largely encouraged the translation into English of many university websites. However, the (deliberate or nondeliberate) presence of culture-bound terms on the English version of university websites represents an issue of debate, considering the worldwide provenance of visitors accessing the websites and the purpose of these texts. The main goal of this article is to analyse the appropriateness of translation strategies used for the culture-bound terms on university websites. The practical part of this research uses Aixelá’s classification of translation strategies for the analysis of the culture-bound terms identified on some Romance language university webpages translated into English, allowing a series of suggestions and recommendations in each case. The study results have demonstrated that the strategy of conservation through repetition is used most often. Last but not least, this paper intends to raise awareness as to the translator’s role and the impact of the quality of translations of university webpages into English as a lingua franca.

The digital transformation has introduced new challenges and significant changes for society, intensified in this time of (post) pandemic (COVID-19). Among these challenges, the process of learning new technology by professionals, known as digital maturity, has taken on a critical role. It is a fact that digital maturity and digital transformation are not the same thing, but are intimately connected, as both are essential in the current business context.Despite the relevance of the matter, state of the art focuses, mainly, on building models to evaluate the digital maturity of organizations, reducing the prospect of impacts on the professionals. The goal of this research seeks firstly to evaluate studies on digital technology and their impacts on accounting. For this, bibliographical research was carried out based on Scopus and Science Direct examining the relevant publications on digital technology and accounting. Next, we analyzed the results found on the research conducted with accounting postgraduate students in order to understand their level of digital maturity regarding the technologies in evidence in the current market. The analyses revealed that, despite the impact, accounting professionals are still quite unaware of or have limited knowledge about these technologies and consequently the reflexes on their profession.
