The growth of giant prawn is limited by a non elastic material called chitin, which is a limiting factor in its growth. Feed containing mineral is needed to improve its growth. One of the essential minerals is calcium. The function of calcium is essential in bone and soft tissue formations, acid balancing, and regulation processes in the body. Because of its benefits, the research on the calcium effect on giant prawn was conducted. The aims of this study was to know the effect of calcium on the growth rate of giant prawn juvenile. Test animals were juveniles of giant prawn with average weight of 56.0 ± 3.0 mg. Research design employed complete randomized design with five calcium mineral treatments as follows:1.0%, 3.0%, 5.0%, 7.0%, and 0.0% as control. Each treatment has three replications. The result showed that calcium affected the daily growth rate of giant prawn (P<0.05). The calcium dosage of 3.46% is the optimum level for giant prawn juvenile.

There are obstacles in the aquaculture business that is still often facedbyfarmers, one of the challengesisthe high price of commercial feed. Feed as an energy source for growth is a reasonably high-cost component in production that reaches 40-89 %. In the control of food for efficiency, it could be done by the fasting method. This research was aimedtoanalyze the effect of periodic fastedofgiant prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii de Man, 1879) against growth and feed efficiency. This research was conducted at IBAP Installation, Probolinggo District - East Java Province. The experimental method used completely randomized design with five treatments and three replications, such as; P0: feeding without fasting (as control), P1: a-day fasted, a-day feeding, P2: a-day fasted, two-days feeding, P3: a-day fasted, three-day feeding, P4: a-day fasted, four-days feeding, P5: a-day fasted, five-day feeding. The results showed that periodic fasted of M. rosenbergii no significant effect on the daily growth rate, absolute weight growth, and feed efficiency. However, by looking at the rate of growth, thisfasting methodcouldbe used as an alternative to saving feed. The P5 showed the most effective in increasing daily growth rate, absolute weight growth, and effectiveness of giant prawn feeding. The strategy of periodic fasted to increase the production of giant prawns should consider the other supporting factors such as ideal water quality (pH, temperature, and DO), proper stocking density, and feeding periods on schedule.

The objectives of this research were to find out the optimum dose and frequency of feeding regime to ensure the maximum growth of carp-seeds, Cyprinus carpio, reared in the backyard pond with recirculation system. The experiment was carried out in 2x3 factorial experimental design and the experimental units were designed in randomized block.  Two factors were tested in this experiment; the first factor, dose of feeding, had three levels, 3%, 4% and 5% of the total body weight per day; and the second factor had 2 levels, 2 and 3 times per day.   Hence there were 6 treatments were applied, and each treatment was triplicated.   Each repetition represented group of fish with different weight.  There were 18 experimental units, and each experimental unit was composed of 8 tested fish, therefore there were 144 tested fish, which were weighed at the beginning of the experiment and then every week during the 6 weeks period of the experiment.  The weight data were converted into FCR, absolute, relative and daily growth rate, and were statistically analyzed using JMP statistic-program (SAS-institute).             The results showed the absolute growth of fish at dose of 3% was significantly lower than that of fish at the dose of 4% and 5%, which was not significantly different.   The relative and daily growth rate was not significantly affected by the different dose of feeding regime.  There was no significant difference in FCR, absolute, relative and daily growth rate between fish fed 2 and 3 times per day.  The best FCR, 1,46, was performed by fish fed 3% of the body weight per day, and this value was significantly different with that of the fish fed 4% or 5%.   The results of this experiment suggest that, carp reared in backyard pond with recirculation system should be fed twice a day, with a dose of 3% of the body weight each day.

The development of catfish culture affects increasing waste in the waters. Aquaculture waste containing high nutrients has the potential to damage the cultivation environment. The Biofloc system in catfish farming can break down NH3 waste into flocks that can be consumed directly by fish. This study aims to analyze the growth and survival rate of catfish in biofloc systems with different C:N ratios. The research design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications. Siamese catfish seeds were maintained in an aquarium container size 40 x 30 x 30 cm for 40 days with treatment media A (maintenance without biofloc), treatment B C:N ratio 15, treatment C C:N ratio 20, and treatment D C:N ratio 25. The results showed that the biofloc system with different C:N ratios had significant effect on the weight growth, daily growth rate, and feed convertion ratio of catfish. The best treatment for growth and viability of catfish is C:N ratio 25.

African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) is one type of freshwater fish that has high economic value. African catfish with intensive cultivation are hampered by the high cost of feed that is not in accordance with the selling price of African catfish. An alternative effort that can be done is the addition of probiotics to feed which is expected to reduce feed costs. Probiotics are living microorganisms in fish culture that can prevent disease, thereby increasing production and can reduce economic losses. This study aims to analyze the effect of probiotics on the growth of absolute weight and daily growth rate of African catfish. The method used was Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 4 treatments namely 0, 2, 4 and 6 ml / kg of feed and repeated 3 times. Activities carried out in this study include preparation of containers, seed stocking, fish sampling, feed preparation, feeding and water management. The variables observed were absolute weight growth and daily growth rate. The results showed that the addition of probiotics to commercial feed significantly affected the growth of weight and daily growth rate of African catfish
