Values are essential in peoples’ lives, guiding individuals to think and take some actions. In the workplace, these values are closely related to people’s competence within their duties. As the future workforce generation, it is essential to capture the value possessed by the millennial generation. Therefore, this study investigates what millennials value most in their life. The data was collected using The Short Schwartz’s Value Survey to overview the intrinsic value that motivates people using a Likert scale (0-8). Ten values are measured: power, achievement, hedonism, stimulation, self-direction, universalism, benevolence, tradition, conformity, and security. This study involved millennial workers (N=123) who graduated varies from high school to postgraduate. Benevolence (47.97%) and conformity (47.15%) were considered fundamental values. Nevertheless, there are no differences in values between sex and years of service. Values of achievement (p=0.028) and self-direction (p=0.009) were found different between monthly salaries. Moreover, values of power (p=0.04) and conformity (p=0.03) were found between educational backgrounds. These findings imply significant differences in several values according to millennials’ income and educational background.

AbstractThe spread of the novel coronavirus disease caused schools in Japan to close to cope with the pandemic. In response to the school closures, parents of students were obliged to care for their children during the daytime, when children usually were at school. Did the increase in the burden of childcare influence parents’ mental health? Based on short panel data from mid-March to mid-April 2020, we explore how school closures influenced the mental health of parents with school-aged children. Using a fixed-effects model, we find that school closures led to mothers of students suffering from worse mental health compared to other females, while the fathers’ mental health did not differ from that of other males. This tendency is only observed for less-educated mothers who had children attending primary school, not for those with children attending junior high school nor for more-educated mothers. The contribution of this paper is showing that school closures increased the inequality of mental health between genders and parents with different educational backgrounds.

Kata kunci: aplikasi sistem, akuntabel, transparan, BOP PAUD.AbstractThe HIMPAUDI organization (association of early childhood educators and education staff) consists of 1051 ECD teachers. Moves in a non-profit oriented organization, whose role is to help the government serve children's education and educate the life of the nation. The problems that HIMPAUDI members have are the lack of competency in mastering the technology of operational assistance accountability reports for PAUD implementation (BOP PAUD) and the unavailability of system applications that help create accountable and transparent BOP PAUD accountability reports. This is evidenced by the available data stating that 32.7% of HIMPAUDI members of PAUD teachers were educated in senior high school and 95% of HIMPAUDI DPD PAD members in Semarang City had educational backgrounds outside of accounting and finance. So that it is necessary to increase basic competencies in terms of BOP PAUD accountability reports for PAUD teachers in Semarang City HIMPAUDI DPD members who are assisted by the availability of BOP PAUD accountability systems to facilitate the accountability and transparent accountability of BOP PAUD reports. BOP PAUD accountability report of 5% of all PAUD teachers in Semarang City HIMPAUDI member and application of BOP PAUD accountability system increased by 5% so that the BOP PAUD accountability report whose funds were disbursed by the Government can be presented in accordance with the principle of accountable and non-BOP PAUD DAK transparent. Kata kunci: system applications, accountable, transparent, BOP PAUD.

Voices from Iran is authored by Mahnaz Kousha, an Iranian college professorwho lectures on issues relating to women in the Middle East at MacalesterCollege in Minnesota. The 10-chapter work provides a qualitative study, featuring15 Iranian women, that addresses the position of women in Iran.Participants ranged in age from from 38 to 55 and lived in the capital city ofTehran from 1995 to 1997. These women came from low- to high-incomefamilies, had educational backgrounds that range from high school diplomasto college/university degrees, and possessed employment experience in Iran.Even though the work can be considered a valuable piece in that it servesas a medium through which the voices of Iranian women can be heard, it doesnot necessarily reflect the experiences of all women due to the limitation ofthe research itself (region, language, religion). In addition, some of Kousha’sconclusions are far reaching and can be rendered debatable. For instance, theissue of why educated mothers still do not treat their daughters fairly andseem unable to help them question and resist their social status is notaddressed. The author also fails to provide an in-depth analysis regarding theimpact of family class and culture in shaping the subjectivities of their daughters. As well, the social and cultural impact of the Islamic revolution onwomen’s rights in Iran is not discussed. Moreover, a closing summary orassessment is not made at the end of the work. The book’s first three chapters include an introduction, a methodologychapter, and an introduction to the research participants. The analysis of thedata begins from chapters 4 and 5, where the different relationshipsbetween mothers and daughters are discussed. Some of the participants’experiences involve mothers who openly shared their problems and concernswith them such as the isolation and powerlessness that they have withtheir husbands or mothers-in-law. Others complained that their mothers discriminatedagainst them while giving their brothers preferential treatment.Of interest is the fact that the author does not explore the underlying factorsthat may have contributed to this problematic behavior such as parentaleducation, socioeconomic status, local culture, and religious issues. In chapter 6, Kousha analyzes the relationship between fathers anddaughters. The father is seen as the first man in his daughter’s life, providing ...
