ABSTRACT Purpose: Against the backdrop of the transaction costs and theoretical strands of thought in authors of the strategic logistics management (SLM), operational performance (OP), and the internet of things (IoT), the purpose of this study is to verify if the IoT performs a mediating effect on the relationship between SLM and OP. Originality/value: The bibliometric study indicated that studies on the IoT aimed at the business area are still scarce. Therefore, there is a prospect of expansion of the knowledge frontier of the administration field. This article seeks to show whether the IoT has a mediating influence on the relationship between SLM and OP, in addition to highlighting the most significant variables of each construct. This study can help business managers and researchers to identify the benefits of adopting IoT. Design/method/approach: For that, a quantitative research was carried out. The research collected data through a semi-structured questionnaire with a sample of 76 companies. Data were treated by descriptive statistics and multivariate statistics with the modeling technique in structural equations. Before the application of the modeling technique in structural equations, data were submitted to tests of convergent and discriminant validity. Findings: The IoT plays a mediating but partial role in the relationship between SLM and OP. Implementing the IoT provides better efficiency by enabling proactive decisions, interconnecting resources, automating, streamlining, remotely controlling, generating customer information, and eliminating errors.

ABSTRACT Purpose: This study aims to verify the moderating role of managers’ characteristics, age, and tenure (time in the sector, position, company), in the relation between the realized absorptive capacity (RACAP) and the architectural marketing capabilities (CAM). Originality/value: The present study considers the human element as a factor that affects the relations between the capacities of the company. It contributes theoretically to help understand what can impact the formulation and implementation of marketing strategies and theoretically strengthen the role of the human element. As a practical contribution, it has been shown that it is not enough to seek external knowledge, it is necessary that it is transformed and then used effectively in the design and implementation of marketing strategies. Design/method/approach: Quantitative research, with transverse temporal data collection. This study empirically tested the hypotheses based on a sample of 343 marketing managers from Brazilian manufacturing industries. Data were collected through a survey. Data were processed by means of modeling of structural equations in AMOS software. Findings: The characteristics of managers (age and tenure) moderate the relationship between a part of RACAP (knowledge transformation) and CAM (architectural marketing capability). More experienced managers should be valued because it has been proven that in this sector, they make a difference when it comes to transforming knowledge and using it in their strategies.

This study intends to find out the mediating effect of organisational culture on the relationship between information system and sustainable performance of manufacturing sector in UAE. This study used AMOS-SEM software to develop mediation model that linking the mediating relationships between Information System, Organisational Culture and Sustainable operation Performance. Data was collected through questionnaire survey among the operation staff of Abu Dhabi manufacturing companies. A total 250 questionnaires were distributed however 205 were returned and only 200 are valid which indicates a response rate of 80%. The analysis found that TPS has positive but not significant effect to SP; OIS has positive but not significant effect to SP; FMW has a positive and significant effect on SP; SDS has a negative and not significant effect to SP and SP has positive but not significant effect OC. For the path relationship between the four exogenous variables (TPS, OIS, SDS, and FMW) and the mediator variable (OC), the results are TPS has positive and significant effect to OC; OIS has positive but not significant effect to OC; FMW has positive and significant effect to OC and SDS has positive and not significant effect to OC. Collectively, the five exogenous constructs (TPS, OIS, SDS, FMW and OC) explained 89% variation in operational performance and 86% of the variation in organisational culture. However, for a mediator, it was found that OC has no significant mediating effect on the relationship between TPS and SP; OC has no significant mediating effect on the relationship between OIS and SP; OC has no significant mediating effect on the relationship between SDS and SP and OC has no significant mediating effect on the relationship between FMW and SP. it can be concluded that there is a positive relationship between information system dimensions and operational performance. However organizational culture has no contributing any mediating effect to the relationship. These findings have contributed to the body of knowledge and could be shared among the UAE manufacturing practitioners.

Teaching is one of the professions with the highest levels of stress and disquiet at work, having a negative impact on teachers’ well-being and performance. Thus, well-being is one of the priorities in human resource management (HRM) in schools. In this regard, this paper studies the relationship between HRM, well-being and performance, observing the incidence of leadership and innovation in these relationships. The objective is to measure the extent to which it is necessary to encourage sustainable environments that promote the well-being of teachers and, by extension, students. The study used the methodology of structural equations and a sample of 315 secondary school teachers. The work validates the influence of leadership by example and information management on HRM and performance. In addition, we confirm the significant effect of human resource management on educational performance. The relationship is observed both directly and through the mediating effect on the improvement of well-being. On the other hand, the positive influence of innovation on performance, both in schools and in the classrooms, is reaffirmed. These results suggest the need to zero in on the human resources policies in schools linked to the improvement of teacher well-being and educational performance. They also highlight the role of school and classroom innovation as a key element in maintaining educational quality.

This study aims to unearth the interactive role of OC on the relationship between PJ of the PA and PSM in public universities in Pakistan. The study not only discusses that PJ is imperative for the overall PSM, but also discusses how to retain a motivated workforce via OC. Qualitative as well as quantitative research methodology has been adopted in this study. Questionnaire was designed to get the view of employees working in the public universities. The results obtained from 980 employees show that the discharge of PJ is highly correlated with employee perception of OC and that the level of OC is highly correlated with PSM. The results further show that OC has a mediating effect on the relationship between PJ and PSM. The implications of our findings are discussed.

Purpose – The study regarding retail grocery considers the mediating effect of store atmospheric responsiveness (SAR) on the relationship of purchase intentions (PI) and extent of purchase (EP) for locally produced foods as well as potential moderators of trust and price consciousness (PC). The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach – The study used survey methodology of 755 grocery store shoppers for locally produced foods and structural equations modelling to test proposed relationships. Findings – A significant positive relationship between PI and EP for locally produced foods exists and that SAR mediated the relationship. Trust was found to moderate the relationship of PI and EP, while PC moderated the SAR to EP. Research limitations/implications – The use of a survey methodology which may lack generalizability. Customers may report desired vs actual intentions or behaviours, and the sample included a large majority of female and Caucasian shoppers. The framework can serve as a guide for future research on store atmospherics in retail grocery. Practical implications – In-store atmospheric factors are important to customer PI and their EP behaviours for locally produced foods. Trust of store and PC are also important. Results may aid managers in determining appropriate in-store “atmospheric” variables to help support customer decision making as they grocery shop. Originality/value – This paper adds value to the literature by considering the role of the store environment on behavioural outcomes like EP of locally produced foods and adds a unique perspective by creating a combined assessment of store atmospherics and individual consumer traits in the grocery shopping domain.

The main goal of this study was to investigate the influence of the perception of favorable (manager support, challenging activities, strategy, coworkers, freedom, and physical environment) and unfavorable conditions (manager inadequate attitude, rules, and lack of time) for creativity upon the criterion variable, proactivity, taking into account the mediating effect of “Creative Self-Efficacy (CSE)”. A convenience sample of 297 participants from different organizations took part in this study and the model proposed was tested through the modeling of structural equations, employing the individual level of analysis. The findings have shown that all the dimensions of the aforementioned variable make a significant contribution to proactivity, with the highest contribution being the manager support. The mediating hypothesis has shown that CSE mediates the relationship between the favorable conditions for creativity (manager support, challenging activities, strategy, and coworkers) and proactivity, indicating that the influence of context in proactivity is maximized by CSE.

The overarching aim of this research is to empirically test the effect of customers’ self-determined needs on perceived customer effectiveness and green purchase behavior while assessing the moderating role of price. To achieve this aim, data is collected from 453 consumers in South Korea. The various hypotheses developed to achieve this aim are tested via the structural equations modeling technique. The results of the study reveal that autonomy, competence, and relatedness positively and significantly affect perceived customer effectiveness. Additionally, autonomy and competence positively and significantly influence green purchase behavior. The study further finds that relatedness is negative but significantly related to green purchase behavior. Moreover, the study reveals that perceived customer effectiveness is positive and significantly related to green purchase behavior. Similarly, the study finds support for the moderating effect of price on the relationship between perceived customer effectiveness and green purchase behavior. The current study provides managerial and theoretical insights into understanding green purchase behavior, self-determined needs as well as perceived customer effectiveness.

The aim of this paper is to analyze the mediating effect of the knowledge management strategies on the relationship between e-business capabilities and innovation performance. The research model was tested with a sample of 102 firms belonging to IT intensive sectors, located in an emerging country that is a regional leader in terms of e-business adoption. Structural equations by the consistent partial least squares method were used. The main result indicates that only the personalization strategy has a partial mediating effect. In conclusion, e-business capability alone is insufficient for achieving a superior innovation performance. This finding also helps consolidate the incipient study perspective that understands knowledge management not as an antecedent variable which becomes indispensable for e-business adoption, but as an organizational factor that intervenes a posteriori and which is focused on achieving an effective use of all the knowledge resulting from the digital operation of the business.
