Introduction: to strengthen the Union State of Belarus and Russia, it is necessary to use a complex of effective and multi-level pro-integration mechanisms. An important place among them belongs to public associations focused on formation and promotion of a positive integration agenda significant not only for the political elites, but also for citizens of the both countries. Objectives: to check the hypothesis about the agency function of public associations in the process of Russian-Belarusian integration. Methods: traditional and formalized study of documents and Internet resources, as well as binary analysis. Timeline of content analysis is 2019 − first half of 2021. Results: the program documents of four public associations were analyzed: in the Russian Federation − the All-Russian Public Movement “People’s Front” for Russia”, the All- Russian public organization “Russian Union of Youth”; in the Republic of Belarus − the Republican Public Association “Belaya Rus” (“White Rus”) and the Belarusian Republican Youth Union. The level of interest of these public associations in covering integration issues was determined by analyzing the content of their Internet resources (official sites and groups on VKontakte social network), and the users’ interest in posts on this topic was studied. The authors provide practical recommendations for national and union government bodies. Conclusions: the integration component is clearly expressed in the program documents of two public associations: the All-Russian Public Movement “People’s Front” for Russia” and the Republican Public Association “Belaya Rus” (“White Rus”). An analysis of the content of the public associations’ Internet resources allows interpreting their positions as pro-integration, but with a large degree of convention. There is a steady interest of users in posts on the issues of Russian-Belarusian integration, as well as in posts related to other vectors of integration, including the European one. On the whole, the considered public associations cannot be recognized as successful integration agents. The current situation can be corrected by securing the special status of public associations under the bodies of the Union State of Belarus and Russia developing and implementing new joint projects, expanding information support for creating the Union State and promoting the advantages of Russian-Belarusian integration.

This article explores the development of language and education policies in the Republic of Tatarstan, a constituent of the Russian Federation, in the context of continued decline in minorities’ political nationalism between 2000 and the 2010s. The new “model of Tatarstan” relies on a close partnership with Moscow reaffirmed by an exclusive treaty on the division of powers. However, this formality does not eliminate Tatars’ cultural contention for recognition and autonomy. The case of Tatarstan speaks to both the potential and the constraints of autonomous territories that are incapable of satisfying the needs of co-nationals living beyond their administrative borders. Language policies and education practices have become a relatively autonomous area for claim-making in defense of Tatar culture as well as bilingualism and multicultural education in the region. This study reveals the interrelationship between the two components, Tatar ethno-culturalism and “pluri-culturalism,” and the encouragement of the region's diversity in the public domain of Tatarstan. Valuable in itself, the latter in a wider context appears to be a necessary condition for protecting minority groups in multinational Russia. Thus while promoting the interests of the “titular” nationality — ethnic Tatars — Tatarstan also serves the advancement of multicultural values in present-day Russia.

World War II was the occasion of the greatest theft, seizure, loss, and displacement of art treasures, books, and archives (“cultural items”) in history. Since then, governments and others have attempted to justify either their right to keep or to claim the return of the cultural items displaced as a result of the war and its aftermath. Such issues have intensified on the Eastern Front since the collapse of he Soviet Union and the opening of the Soviet secret depositories of long-hidden cultural items brought to Soviet territories at the end of the war. The principal protagonists in the public arena have been the Federal Republic of Germany (Germany), the Republic of Poland, and the Republic of Hungary, each claiming that the Russian Federation (Russia) has refused to negotiate adequately the return of cultural items displaced during and after the war that are now located in its territory.

A distinctive feature of the modern period is the large and not fully satisfied need of the subjects of the Russian Federation in all types of information on the background of the termination of the previously existing medical information bodies, responsible for working with the regions. The most important task of the regional medical information subsystem, which is becoming increasingly important, is information support for all activities, on which the improvement of the health of the population of a particular administrative-territorial unit depends.

Among the main tasks of the Visit Tatarstan brand is the formation of a clear, uniform and an adequate image of the Republic of Tatarstan in the public consciousness both within and beyond the region. The paper sates that the Visit Tatarstan brand is focused primarily on the development of tourism and hospitality in the region, as well as the formation of an adequate image of the Republic of Tatarstan for the many guests who come to the Republic from around the world.
