Articles published in International journals have rich potentials of learning sources since their publication has been scholarly processed through the hands of journal editors. Readers can get a lot of benefits from them. One lesson we might get is the way the writers conducted their researches. Thus, we can learn the research methods from the models found in journal articles. This paper will elaborate the research methods used in the teaching of English as a foreign language (TEFL). The elaboration is formulated from the research methods used by journal article writers around the world. A number of international journal articles in TEFL are taken as the corpus of the study. Using a grounded theory, varieties of research methods in TEFL are investigated. Among of them are case study, quasi experiment, qualitative experiment, meta analysis, descriptive research, activity theory, error analysis, R & D, action research, research and development (R&D), and survey method. Due to the limited space, however, the paper will only describe four popular methods: descriptive research, case study, error analysis, and R & D. The description of each method is supported with examples found in international journal articles published around the world.

Result of this study shows that Larry Page has a very open and equal way of leading, making him a democratic and transformational leader for an instance Larry believe in crazy ideas of their employees since he believes that insane ideas could change the world whereas not all the leaders can trust their subordinate. To hear the ideas, Larry always encourages his subordinate to speak up at every opportunity and instantly give them constructive feedback.

This descriptive research which follows the quantitative approach implemented the survey method using one shot case study. The samples participating in the study are 12 SE teachers. In order to gather the data, a questionnaire was distributed to the participants online through Google Form, containing 10 items. The data obtained were analyzed in descriptive quantitative  through percentage. The findings indicate that all participants (100%) conduct the teaching and learning, where 50% of them delivered the teaching in online learning and 58% confirmed that the learning adheres to the lesson plans. Moreover, 67% of the participants informed that the learning materials are in the same order as stated in the lesson plans, 67% used WhatsApp groups as their teaching media, 67% of the participants informed that their students were enthusiastic and participated actively in the class, 50% have cooperated with their students’ parents for supporting learning, 67% of them stated the assessment was based on submitted exams and tasks, 58% stated that the assessment was less effective. Meanwhile, the analysis of learning indicators reveal that generally 41% of the participants claim difficulties in accessing good Internet connection, and 42% of the participants’ students could not afford smartphones for their learning and thus could not submit their tasks. Briefly the Covid 19 pandemic does not hamper the conduct of teaching and learning though it is now delivered online, however, in general the study found that the teaching and learning is less effective; therefore,  more attention needs to be paid to students especially with their obstacles in using the learning media and accessing proper Internet connection.

Abstract Background The increasing use of preprints to disseminate evidence on the effect of interventions for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) can lead to multiple evidence sources for a single study, which may differ in the reported evidence. We aim to describe the proportion of evidence on the effect of interventions for COVID-19 from preprints and journal articles and map changes in evidence between and within different sources reporting on the same study. Methods Meta-research study. We screened the Cochrane living systematic review and network meta-analysis (COVID-NMA) database to identify all preprints and journal articles on all studies assessing interventions for COVID-19 published up to 15 August 2020. We compared all evidence sources (i.e., preprint and associated journal article) and the first and latest versions of preprints for each study to identify changes in two evidence components: study results (e.g., numeric change in hazard ratio, odds ratio, event rate, or change in p value > or < 0.05 in any outcome) and abstract conclusions (classified as positive, negative or neutral regarding the intervention effect, and as reporting uncertainty in the findings or not). Changes in study results were further classified as important changes if they (1) represented a change in any effect estimate by ≥ 10% and/or (2) led to a change in the p value crossing the threshold of 0.05. Results We identified 556 studies. In total, 338 (61%) had been reported in a preprint: 66 (20%) of these had an associated journal article (median time to publication 76 days [interquartile range (IQR) 55–106]) and 91 (27%) had > 1 preprint version. A total of 139 studies (25% of the overall sample) were reported in multiple evidence sources or versions of the same source: for 63 (45%), there was a change in at least one evidence component between or within sources (42 [30%] had a change in study results, and in 29 [21%] the change was classified as important; 33 [24%] had a change in the abstract conclusion). For studies with both a preprint and an article, a median of 29% (IQR 14–50) of total citations were attributed to the preprint instead of the article. Conclusions Results on the effect of interventions for COVID-19 are often reported in multiple evidence sources or source versions for a single study. Evidence is not stable between and within evidence sources. Real-time linkage of all sources per study could help to keep systematic reviews up-to-date.

This chapter draws attention to the emergence of Mobile Activism (M-Activism) in small states. More specifically, the chapter presents the findings of a qualitative descriptive research project, which utilizes a combination of case study and discourse analysis methodologies to describe how mobile smart phones were used by a small group of activists in Jamaica to protest a violation of the Rule Of Law (ROL). The findings demonstrate that mobile smart phones can be used as an effective and efficient tool for activists to engage citizens, government agents, and government, and gain support for their cause. The findings indicate that these smart phones can be used to access and convey messages to a wide audience of e-citizens and thus have the potential for encouraging support as well as interest in a cause. The findings have wide implications with respect to: 1) how mobile technology provides opportunities to transform the relationship between governments and citizens and 2) the possible future of protests and activism in small states. The findings also have wider implications for new and emerging innovative ways of achieving good governance not only in Jamaica but also in other parts of the world.

Epilepsy is a disorder in which several recurrent seizures occur, and despite the fact that there are over twenty anti-seizure drugs available, more than 30% of people with epilepsy continue to have seizures (Friedman & Devinsky, 2015; Kolb & Whishaw, 2009). Many researchers have turned to marijuana, specifically the constituent cannabidiol (CBD), as they search for new solutions to effectively help this treatment-resistant form of epilepsy. The purpose of this paper is to provide an assessment between the relationship of marijuana and epilepsy. I will review a total of six studies, including one case study, and one meta-analysis. A considerable amount of controversy surrounds this topic, as marijuana is illegal in many parts of the world, and many researchers are undecided as to whether its legalization will be beneficial or not. In spite of this disagreement, most researchers believe that marijuana, specifically CBD, has shown some evidence in regard to the positive health benefits and reduction of seizures in epilepsy. Future analysis requires high quality and reliable studies which can continue to further our understanding of the relationship between marijuana and epilepsy.
