The purpose of this phenomenological study was to investigate and analyze the supervision of the use of mother tongue language in K to 12 education in Caraga Davao Oriental. Employing phenomenological approach with 14 school heads, in-depth interview and focus group discussion were conducted which revealed that most of the participants’ experiences in supervising mother tongue were frustration with ineptitude, collateral complications, collaboration among teachers, improved student engagement, and compassionate intervention.  The coping mechanisms of the participants include being keen and efficient, being scientific and methodical, being creative and resourceful, peer mentoring, and benchmarking. Despite the rigors of life, the respondents shared insights based on their experiences. These include MTB language promotes cultural preservation, teachers need steady support, and administrators need a helping hand. The study implies that their realization after supervising and upon implementing what they have learned, they were amazed of the transformation that happened to their teachers in particular and the schools in general.

One of the tasks of human development is to discover its identity. There are many ways a person can find that identity. One of them is through the identification of the idol figure. This study aims to understand the process of identity formation through the identification of shadow puppet figures in the context of Javanese culture. A qualitative phenomenological approach was used to understand the process retrospectively. Three main participants were involved in the study. The process of collecting data was done through in-depth interview methods to both the main participants and their significant others. FGD (focused group discussion) is also conducted to explore participants' understanding of their process of identity formation. Data analysis was done by phenomenological method. This study found three main themes, namely interested in shadow puppet figures, matching self-image with puppet characters, and the use of feeling as a bridge between self and the puppet. This study concluded that shadow puppets can be used as a means to find identity among their fans.

This phenomenological-cross sectional study navigates the views of school heads, teachers, and learners in Kapalong East District. This phenomenological study aims to describe and understand the experiences of school heads, teachers, and learners in makeshift classrooms. This perspective encourages educators, families, and schools to understand that learners develop and learn new skills and knowledge by reacting to their environment. Five school heads, five teachers, and five learners participated in the in-depth interview and focus group discussion, selected through the purposive sampling technique. The experiences of the school heads resulted in nine major themes, which include: the makeshift classroom is not safe and conducive to learners; the makeshift classroom is an immediate solution to lack of classrooms; a big challenge to face; accepting the situation; providing support and motivation to teachers; involvement of stakeholders in the improvement of classrooms; making use of available resources, and provision of the concrete classroom. Nine major themes also emerged for teacher-participants: the makeshift classroom is not conducive and not secured; teachers used varied teaching styles; a challenge to take; integrating different strategies in teaching; motivating one’s self to do the best; being positive despite the present situation; needs for support from DepEd; integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in teaching. Eight major themes revealed from learner-participants: not conducive to learning; willingness to learn; the desire to have a concrete and spacious classroom; determination to study; classroom cleanliness; learners should give their best to succeed, and government should provide additional concrete classroom. These results imply that having a good environment for learning can affect learners’ learning, particularly and the quality of education in general. The results of this study are critical to school heads, teachers, learners, and stakeholders in promoting better education. Aims: The aim of this study was to determine the personal experiences of the teacher-participants in the teaching of Technology and Livelihood Education. It also ascertained and met the following objectives: 1) determine the teaching experiences of the TLE teachers; 2) to identify the training needs of TLE teachers; 3) ascertain the challenges faced by the TLE teachers; 3) discover the pedagogy and strategies used by the TLE teachers; and 4) find out the recommendations of the TLE teachers to improve the delivery of the course. Study Design: Qualitative-phenomenological approach. Place and Duration of Study: The study was conducted in Sta Cruz National High School, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. The study was conducted for 6 months. Methodology: The researchers purposely chose all the Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) teachers. The information were gathered through Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Results: Six themes emerged from the data analysis. Generally, the teacher-participants found teaching of TLE subject was challenging because the activities were focused on exploration. Moreover, they felt satisfied because they were able to share their knowledge and skills to their students. It implies that the TLE teachers were committed and dedicated to their jobs despite the difficulties they encountered. However, the teacher-participants revealed that generally, they were not sent outside of the school to attend training-seminar for skills enhancement. It is an indication that the school heads lack concern for their teachers’ professional development. In addressing the challenges of the teachers, they collaborate with each other by sharing their resources. Despite the challenges they encountered, they were still optimistic to be globally competitive.  It implies that the TLE teachers do not give up easily. They suggested that the school administration needed to develop the participants’ personal character so that their teaching goals were met. Conclusion: The TLE teachers loved and enjoyed their teaching jobs despite the challenges they faced. However, they clamored to the Department of Education (DepEd) to address their needs such as sending them to trainings and seminar-workshop to enhance their skills and capabilities. To show their dedication to their jobs, they brought their own tools and shared the same to other teachers. Notably, the participants only used three teaching strategies. It shows that TLE teachers lack the knowledge of other teaching strategies. The participants were optimistic that sooner or later their TLE programs are accredited and recognized locally and internationally. This implies that the participants were committed to their jobs. Ironically, they suggested that improvement of the teachers’ self was better than improving the TLE implementation. This shows that the teachers believed that materials can be easily acquired but not the attitude.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the description of the resilience of parents who accompanied children to learn online during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The unit of analysis for this study is the parents who accompany their children to learn online during the pandemic for at least 6 months, from the elementary school level. The method used is the inductive method, starting with collecting data then formulating the data in a pattern and concluding it. The technique of extracting data by using semi-structured interviews was depth interviews. The thematic analysis used is data driven, the approach used in this study is based on data. The technique of establishing the credibility of the data uses triangulation of researchers. The results showed how emotional regulation, impulse control, optimism, empathy, problem analysis skills, self-efficacy, and increased positive aspects of parents to continue accompanying children to learn online during a pandemic.Keywords: Resilience; Parental Assistance; Online Based Learning Activities  Abstrak: Tujuan dari penelitian ini yakni untuk memaparkan tingkat, gambaran, dan faktor yang mempengaruhi resiliensi pada Orangtua yang mendampingi anak belajar online di masa pandemi Covid-19. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Unit analisis dari penelitian ini adalah Orangtua yang mendampingi anak belajar online di masa pandemi kurang lebih selama 6 bulan minimal, dari jenjang kelas Sekolah Dasar. Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode induktif, diawali dengan mengumpulkan data kemudian memformulasikan data dalam sebuah pola dan menyimpulkannya. Teknik penggalian data dengan wawancara semiterstruktur yang digunakan depth interview. Analisis tematik yang digunakan adalah data driven, pendekatan yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini ada berdasarkan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingkat resiliensi orangtua dalam mendampingi anak belajar online dalam kategori tinggi. Kedua, gambaran resiliensi orangtua ditunjukkan dengan aspek regulasi emosi, pengendalian impuls, sikap optimis, empati, kemampuan analisis masalah, dan peningkatan aspek positif. Ketiga, faktor yang mempengaruhi resiliensi yakni individu, keluarga, dan komunitas serta Guru.Kata Kunci: Resiliensi; Pendampingan Orangtua; Kegiatan Belajar Online

The youth are the hope of the native land. Unfortunately, children in homes where there is domestic violence are more likely to be abused or neglected. This is one of the most prevalent and rampant quandaries in the society which requires critical attention of a victim. Thus, a study was conducted to determine the demographic profile, forge fears, aspirations and hopes as voices of domestically abused children and produce programs to possibly heal the victims. Guided by the qualitative research design and interpretative sociology orientation, the phenomenological approach was primarily used in the study. Information was generated by the researchers through in-depth interview, key informant interview, and focus group discussion utilizing self-made questionnaire. The findings revealed that 90 percent of informants were minor age, all female victims and suffered domestic abuse. The results on the fears, aspirations, and hopes as springboard of their existence showed positive indication with the victims to fulfill their desires. However, government and other support groups were hunted. Hence, the study concludes that aspirations and hopes were constant goal of the victims and their fears were poignant blueprint to their opening or preference of destiny. BACKGROUND: Caring is the concept of a basic approach in nursing. It is an action that affects the level of satisfaction in hospitalized patients. Caring practice is very important for patient satisfaction. If it is in accordance with patient expectations, it will be considered as satisfying nursing services. However, in reality, there are still many nurses who have not shown caring practice toward patients and there may be some nurses who do not have time to listen to patients, provide comfort, or other caring actions. Nurses are considered to be noble professions as they are the people who take care and help the patients. The noble profession can be seen through the practice of the nurse such as caring actions which can improve patient satisfaction, especially Islamic caring, which is to include Islamic values in the hospital regardless of the patient’s status. AIM: This study aims to explore the experiences of nurses in implementing Islamic caring practices at the Islamic Hospital in Yogyakarta. METHODS: This study used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The data collection conducted in this study was an in-depth interview method. The number of participants in this study was six nurses who worked at PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Hospital and Nur Hidayah Hospital, Yogyakarta. RESULTS: The results of this study showed four main themes regarding the experience of nurses in implementing Islamic caring practices at the Islamic Hospital in Yogyakarta. CONCLUSION: The four main themes are nurse’s spiritual experiences, sharia-based services, attitudes toward Islamic caring practices, and the support and the barrier in carrying out Islamic caring practices.

This study was conducted to describe marital satisfaction in wives who run distant marriages. This research focuses on the marital satisfaction of the wife who undergoes a foreign marriage because her husband works outside Java. This research is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach, data collection using in-depth interview techniques on the main subject. The credibility of data using research extension and data triangulation. Participants have two wives with the criteria that a wife and husband work outside Java. The results of research conducted on 2 participants show that despite undergoing long-distance marriages, participants N and S can communicate well via telephone or chat and are open to each other in communication with their partners. Participants take advantage of their free time with quality time with their partners. Participant S is not satisfied with applying religious values, while Participant N is satisfied with their partner's religious values. Participant N and Participant S resolve conflicts by being creative and finding solutions together. Participants are open to each other in financial matters. Long-distance marriages support participants to fulfill their sexual needs by calling or video calling, showing affection for each other, and being open about sexual issues. Participants have a reasonably good relationship with family and friends due to frequent visits. Parenting is still carried out together by the participants both near and far. Participants can accept and respect each other's personality differences. Participants can receive the roles that must be carried out, such as being child protectors and independent when their husbands have to be away.

This qualitative research through phenomenological approach in which it is made to gather important data and information based on the participant’s experiences of the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Act. The interview collected data using in-depth interview where the questions were semi-structured for deeper clarification and further discussions. After the data was being collected, there were three themes formulated as the effects after the implementation of TRAIN law on poor income class families. According to the findings, the impact of TRAIN law to the poor are mostly the basic need such as food in which it is needed to reduce their budget for them to survive since there are other things that needed to be paid such like utility bills and debts. Furthermore, it also affects the mental and well-being of a person such as anxiety, stress, and depression due to financial problems. It is therefore concluded that after the implementation of TRAIN the poor income class families becomes poorer.

AbstractThis study explores the lived experience of domestic violence in HIV-infected women in Iran using a qualitative phenomenological approach. Data were collected in 2014 through in-depth interview of twelve HIV-infected women purposefully selected from a counselling centre in Tehran. The qualitative data were analysed using a thematic analysis approach. The main theme that emerged was ‘the sunset of life’ – an emotional numbing and fragile marital relationship resulting from the violence suffered by the women. From this, three sub-themes expressing women’s feelings of hopelessness were extracted: ‘the destroyed life’, ‘being in the destiny prison’ and ‘living on the edge of annihilation’. The results revealed that although the experience of domestic violence had devastating effects on women’s lives, HIV infection was the factor that forced them to remain trapped in violent relationships. The findings emphasize the importance of designing comprehensive violence prevention strategies tailored to meeting the needs of HIV-infected women in Iran.

This article is based on a larger interpretative phenomenological study exploring the lived experience of women who have faced unresolved infertility, and which aimed to understand and interpret the meaning of infertility, its emotional implications, and the coping mechanisms of sufferers. The five participants were women who faced primary infertility, whilst being with a partner, having undergone treatment, and who had not encountered (at least initially) other handicaps critical to their infertility. Data was collected via semi-structured interviews and the narratives were analysed using Smith’s Interpretative Phenomenological Approach (IPA). The four superordinate themes identified were: (1) meaning of motherhood; (2) being in treatment; (3) consciously facing infertility; and (4) moving on. Due to word count limitations, this article only focuses on: “meaning of motherhood” and “consciously facing infertility”, with the intention to publish a different article to address the remaining two themes. The combination of themes was determined by considering how to wholesomely present the most essential aspects of the narrative as related to us by the participants. The themes included in this article explore how archetypical beliefs about motherhood and fertility help define cultural, societal, and personal expectations, and in turn affect the magnitude and intensity of infertility’s psychological impact. The findings emphasise the complexity of the phenomenon and how it can impinge on all aspects of life. Sufferers were found to experience complex loss, relating to their identity and self-esteem, life purpose, but also relationships and social integration. These profound psychological effects can be particularly long lasting due to the lifelong nature of the phenomenon but also the shame and secrecy surrounding it.
