The purpose of the study presented in the article is to identify the relationship between commitment to civic engagement and socio-psychological characteristics of the individual. The study was carried out on a sample of young students (N = 110) aged 17 to 29 years (M = 23, SD = 3.98), 29% of men and 71% of women. The following methodological tools were used: a questionnaire aimed at fixing the socio-demographic characteristics of respondents; a questionnaire, including a scale of self-assessment of social activity and forms of its manifestation (R. M. Shamionov, I. V. Arendachuk, E. E. Bocharova, etc.); questions aimed at self-assessment of trust in the government institution in the possibility of realizing one’s own rights and freedoms; “Personal value questionnaire” by S. Schwartz (PVQ-R2) to study the expression of individual values. Presumably, there is a relationship between the severity of civil society and socio-political forms of activity, trust in institutional sources and values of openness to change. We discovered that the most preferred forms of social activity of young people are leisure, Internet network, spiritual and educational development. Young people are more likely to express confidence in their relatives or friends, and various Internet sources when exercising their rights and freedoms. We demonstrated that participation of young people in activities aimed at transforming society and expressing their own and collective civic position on issues of public life expands the possibilities of achieving personal professional, career and economic goals, as well as the realization of their cultural, national, religious interests, subject to the manifestation of trust in various governing institutions that implement the functions of ensuring the rights and freedoms of a person. Realization of civic activity is associated with desire for novelty and changes in society, on the one hand, the desire for change leads to generation of civic activity associated with transformation of society on the other hand. The value of “stimulation” is a predictor of civic activity. The study of this problem can be applied in work with young people in public municipal organizations, schools, institutes.

The purpose of the study presented in the article is a theoretical analysis of socio-political and civic activity of young people in the context of processes of individualization and massification as contradictory but interdependent trends in the development of modern society. The relevance of the study is supported by the need for scientific understanding of conditions under which the formation of social and political subjectivity of young people and their choice of these types of activity take place. We presented data of the theoretical analysis of the “social activity” concept with a particular focus on its psychological structure, namely on the cognitive, emotional, motivational, reflexive, volitional and behavioral (activity) components. We substantively described determinants of the socio-political and civic activity of young people, to which we attributed internal psychological (consciousness and self-awareness of the individual, interests and motivation) and external socio-political factors (internal and external political, socio-cultural, informational and communicative context of life). It is shown that the study of modern young people’s activity presupposes inclusion of the subject field of the parameters of personal and social responsibility and the conscious choice of an individual between passionarity and desubjectivity into the scientific analysis. The applied aspect of the problem under study can be used as a tool for development of socially active young people who are focused on constructive interaction with the state, business, and society as a whole.

The authors analyze the interdisciplinary discourse and functional-content specificity of the phenomenon of youth civic activity, study the theoretical and methodological positions, categorical signs of destructive civic activity, as well as the contexts of possible manifestations of destructive youth civic practices. There is an increase in the need to study the civic youth activity, which acquires various forms of expression of positive and destructive orientation, reflecting the current political, economic, socio-cultural values of society. The processes of destabilization in society, negatively affecting the level of social protection of young people, due to youth maximalism, instability of life priorities, push to engage in socially dangerous activities, including extremist orientation. The potential space for the implementation of destructive practices of young people is expanding at the expense of social Internet networks, where their informal self-organization is activated. Internet activism is developing – purposeful actions in the online space, built around the situation-problems and aimed at its solution. The authors perform the categorization of civic activism of the youth through the analysis of cause-effect relations, which are necessary contiguous concepts as a response of young people to any social injustice, dysfunction of the economic and political system, an important condition for the normal functioning of society. The researchers define destructive behavior as a type of human activity that changes social objects through their destruction. Destructive civic activity of young people is understood as a sophisticated, multi-level, thematically diverse manifestation of social activity with a certain potential. The authors assume that destructive youth activism is expressed in aggressive individual and collective, verbal and non-verbal actions (including the form of destructive civic content in the Internet space). The paper states that destructiveness of civic activity is manifested in delinquent socially dangerous, aggressive forms. However, the authors conclude that destructive civil initiatives can also be socially useful, aimed at solving urgent problems related to social inequality, injustice, corruption, non-compliance with laws, and under certain conditions become the driving force of the "recovery" of society.

This article highlights the problem of bullying among teens. It is determined that the age characteristics that cause an increase in the level of aggression in adolescents include exacerbation of character accentuations, as well as increasing physical activity, which can be manifested in bullying, property damage and more. It is also worth noting the active desire of children of this age for the attention, understanding and trust of adults. Teenagers are trying to play a certain social role not only with peers, but also with adults, to show a social activity that adults do not always support. Therefore, when they are exposed to psychological barriers, without finding mutual understanding with others and their families, they try to overcome them by aggressive behavior. It was found that closer to mid-teens; aggressive behavior tends to decline because of the increase in social skills for self-regulation. However, despite the high coefficients of stability of aggressive behavior in the transition from childhood to adolescence, attention should be paid to individual variability in aggressive behavior. Psychologists identify several main reasons: low self-esteem, home atmosphere and group atmosphere. The results of the study of bullying among students of 9-11 grades of the Higher Vocational School № 21 in Mykolayiv are presented. The sample consisted of 75 persons, of whom 54 were boys and 21 were girls. It was obtained that the psychological characteristics of the individual that may contribute to the emergence of bullying among students are at an average level, the indicators do not exceed the norm, respectively; pronounced characteristics of high school students in their propensity for bullying in the study group were not identified. Given all the circumstances and factors involved in the formation of aggressive behavior in adolescents, you can prevent or limit the manifestation of aggressive behavior. Today, there are numerous anti-bullying and prevention programs developed by a variety of institutions, including the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, but each needs well-trained specialists for effective implementation, and the training of qualified psychologists is an effective tool to fight bullying.

The sample included people with low socio-economic status (namely poors) (N=162) and non-poor (N=188). Measurement of children’s socio-economic status was carried out by retrospective assessment. The results showed that values and self-esteem differ depending on the adult SES. The results revealed the significant effect of adult and childhood SES for trust and life satisfaction. The analysis revealed that adult status had a significant impact on trust only in the groups of those who did not experience poverty in childhood, i.e. the group with average levels of wealth in childhood, and the wealthy group. In conclusion, our study revealed the impact of childhood and adult SES on various individual psychological characteristics.

In this paper, I argue that current arrangements for school-to-work transitions support in England, now school-based, are designed to contribute towards ensuring the consent of the population for what I refer to as the ‘state of insecurity’ (Lorey, 2015): the neoliberal relationship between the individual and the state in which insecurity is promoted as freedom. Based on an analysis of policy, the paper argues that the government careers strategy for young people aims to contribute to shaping the precarious subjects which inhabit the state of insecurity, by encouraging them to internalise neoliberal values around freedom and individualism which accompany governmental precarisation. Drawing also on the work of Judith Butler (2011), I suggest that throughout the careers strategy, neoliberalism functions as performative or hegemonic norm which is cited to constitute notions of ‘good’ or ‘normal’ labour market arrangements, aspirations and selves. I suggest that this strategy is an example of Berlant's (2011) ‘cruel optimism’, which constitutes a fantasy of a ‘good life’ which is in fact likely to be unattainable to many young people, especially the more disadvantaged.

The authors argue that political culture is a set of regulations and values that determine the participation of people in the political life of society, the formation of political culture, citizenship among young people is inextricably linked with the process of political socialization, which lays the foundation for basic knowledge, judgments and ideas of the individual about politics, power, the state

The concepts of personality of the virtual sitter are studied based on schematic representations of faces induc- ing the expression of joy and sadness (Brunswik, 1956). Observers evaluated schematic faces using the “Personal Differential” scales. It is shown that varying the distance between schematic eyes, nose length, height of the mouth and forehead causes not only impressions of joy or sadness, but also changes the representation of the in- dividual psychological characteristics of a virtual personality. With the expansion of face structure horizontally and narrowing it vertically, pronounced positive ideas about the personality of the virtual sitter dominated. With an alternative configuration — narrowing the face horizontally and expanding it vertically — the ideas about the personality of the model are merged with the ideas generated by the neutral face scheme. The three externally similar facial images correspond to two imaginary models. The doubling effect is reproduced in different ways in the dynamics of the components of the implicit personality structure — the factors “Assessment”, “Strength”, “Activity”. It is proved that the ideas about the individual psychological characteristics of a virtual sitter — the person to whom the schematic faces belong, are mediated by the perception of his states. The hypothesis that the doubling effect is due to differences in the self-assessment of observers has not been confirmed.

The article reveals the concepts of activity, youth, social activity. The paper notes great attention to young people, especially to the problems of young people, because youth is the most active age group, that can realize itself in all spheres of life: cultural, social, political etc. The authors notice that young people, more than other socio-demographic groups, are focused on raising their social status and on mastering new social roles. The article analyses theoretical approaches to the study of the foundations of the formation of social activity of young people: philosophical, pedagogical, psychological, and sociological. In addition, the paper notes availability of a huge number of author’s interpretations of the definition of «social activity». A common feature of the authors’ study of the phenomenon of activity is the presence of a purposeful, conscious, motivated impact of the personality on society. In addition, social activity is an integral part of the motivational structure of the individual. Based on the author’s interpretations of various scientists, the paper emphasizes the General characteristic of the definition of «social activity» – the presence of quantitative and qualitative characteristics of an individual’s social interaction with the surrounding world.
