This research was motivated by a condition that reading of Syi’ir as a culture in society<br />decreased. Whereas, Syi’ir contained a lot of good values related to children’s character building. Through field research method, philology, and documentary research, this study found that Syi’ir Ngudi Susilo was Syi’ir that contains children’s moral value to build their character. Syi’ir Ngudi Susilo consists of a very useful basic moral value to  develop of children’s character. The Basic moral embedded in Syi’ir Ngudi Susilo were respect and responsibility. Respect would bring children to have polite in personality and behavior based on the moral value. From respect, children would have a responsible character that would create self-consciousness to do moral act. By those two basic moral values, respect and responsibility, then children would grow with noble characters.

ABSTRACT   Panitibaya fiber is one of the piwulang Javanese texts that needs to be preserved because the teachings contained in it are still very beneficial for the community. For that Panitibaya Fiber will be examined on (1) how the sound layer in Panitibaya Fiber, (2) how the meaning layer in  Panitibaya Fiber, (3) how the object layer in Panitbaya Fiber, (4) Moral Value in Panitibaya Fiber. This study uses a literary sociology approach according to Ian Watt. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The data used in this study is the text of the Fiber Panitibaya written by Bathara Katong. Data collection techniques in this study were heuristic and hermeneutic reading methods. The analysis technique uses an analysis of the building blocks of poetry Roman Ingarden which includes sound layers, meaning layers, object layers. From the data, it was analyzed using Ian Watt's sociology theory of literature to find out the teachings contained in Panitibaya Fiber. The results of this study indicate that the existence of sound layers, layers of meaning and layers of objects, as well as moral values ​​contained in the Panitibaya Fiber for pursuing are summarized as eleven teachings as follows, (1) obligations to the Creator, (2) disgraceful qualities that must be shunned, (3) commendable traits, (4) actions that are not justified for men, (5) attitudes that must be considered in speech, (6) ancestral messages, (7) people who are not approachable, (8) actions related to children, (9) actions related to firearms, (10) there are visits and neighbors, and (11) attitude in handling a job. The teachings of the Panitibaya Fiber need to be disseminated in the Javanese community, either through print media or online media. This study aims to describe the comparison of moral values ​​in the novel Ivanna Van Dijk by RisaSaraswati with the moral values ​​of the novel AnantaPrahadi by RisaSaraswati. The research method uses descriptive qualitative method. The data in this study were obtained by reading, recording and concluding techniques. After the data is collected, data reduction is then performed. The selected data are then classified for further analysis of similarities and differences to be compared until the conclusion of the research results. The results of this study indicate that there are differences and similarities in the moral values ​​of human relations with oneself, human relations with humans, and human relations with God. Comparison of the moral values ​​of the two novels from the aspect of moral values ​​there are differences. In the novel AnantaPrahadi by RisaSaraswati the moral values ​​of human relations with oneself are 19 quotations, human relationships with humans there are 50 quotations, human relationships with God are 8, and the total of these quotations is 149 quotations. Whereas in Ivanna Van Dijk's novel the moral value of human relations with oneself is 26 quotations, human relationships with humans there are 49 quotations, human relationships with God there are 3 quotations, and the total of these quotations is 105 quotations. Conclusion, the comparison of moral values ​​in the two novels is on the number of citations, while the equation lies in the form of quotations of moral values, which dominates the moral values ​​of relationships with others. In addition, the form of expressing the moral values ​​of the two novels is slightly different, namely the implied and explicit meaning. Keywords: Comparison, Novel, Moral Value

Folklore is a story that originated in society and developed in society in the past which played an important role in the development of children's character learning in the form of moral values. The purpose of this study was to explain the moral values contained in folklore to improve character education. This study used a qualitative descriptive research design. Where all the data collected is based on books and other supporting document data. From the discussion of the Timun Mas folklore, there are eight prominent moral values, namely religious values, independent values, curiosity values, hard work values, responsibility values, honesty values, creativity, the value of the spirit of hard work. And from the research results, it can be concluded that the folklore of Timun Mas has many moral values that can be applied in the world of Education to shape character.

This study attempts to analyze a fairy tale novel entitled “The Adventure of Pinocchio”, which talks about the story of the irrepressible marionette who longed to become a real boy. This study focuses on revealing the categories of moral value and describing the building children's character implied in this novel. To analyze this novel, the researcher uses two principles theory to find out the objectives of the studies. There are moral values argued by Linda & Eyre and the theory of children’s character building based on Lewis. The method of this study is qualitative research, which means it does not need statistical procedure to analyze the material. This study merely uses “The Adventure of Pinocchio,” a novel by Carlo Collodi, translated into English version by Carol Della Chiesa as the primary data source. At the same time, the secondary data sources are taken from other literary books and related references to support and complete the primary data. As a result, the researcher finds that some elements of moral values such as love and affection, sensitivity and not-selfish, bravery, self-discipline, and moderation occurred in the content of the novel. Meanwhile, building children's character can be implied through “The Adventure of Pinocchio's” fairy tale: honesty, responsible, regard, respect, and compassionated.

The folklore entitled Lubuk Emas is one of the stories that come from North Sumatra, Indone-sia. The aim of this study is the researcher wants to show the importance of moral value and character-building education through the Lubuk Emas folklore. This research used the library research method, where the researcher will gathering information about the moral value and character-building education through Lubuk Emas folklore.  The results of this study are to show that the character has a different characterization and also give the reader a different mo-rality include individual morality and social morality. Moral is the most important part of the pillars of Islam besides monotheism (tawhid) and the Shari'a. These three aspects are used as the basis of implementation for adherents, both in the application in the family environment, work environment, community environment, even wider environment, namely nation and state. For that reason, of course it is very important for us to know the details related to this character. The focus of this research is on the application and inculcation of moral values in Integrated Islamic Middle School Fithrah Insani, which until now has two branches of education units. This research uses a descriptive-analytic method with qualitative case study type. This research uses primary and secondary data sources. Data collection techniques carried out by interview , observation, literature, and documentation. As a conclusion, it was found that inculcation of moral values in Integrated Islamic Middle School Fithrah Insani was implemented in the activities of Recitation of the Qur'an (TTQ), Mentoring / Character Building, MABIT / CAMP, Assigning Students to Learn and Look for Teachers to Teach Themselves Outside School, and Public Lecture .  Keywords: Moral Value, Akhlak, Integrated Islamic School, Fithrah Insani

The functionalization of places of worship in this case of mosques for Muslims has been experiencing a lot of development both in terms of architecture and its function for Muslim communities. One of them is the mosque in the Kapuas district of Central Kalimantan province. This study aims to describe how the process of Islamization and the role of the Jami Al-Ikhlas Mosque as a center for  spreading Islam and character building of Islam in Kapuas Regency. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative field research. To collect data, the study uses  observation, interviews and documentation. The findings of this study indicate that the process of islamization through marriage, Sufism and martial arts. In addition, the mosque also functions as the Islamic teaching place, the recitation of adult, learning to recite Al-Qur’an for children and habsy activities.

<p><strong>Abstract: </strong>This research aims to analyze the values and character building in “The Theory of Everything,” to identify the morality of the main character of “The Theory of Everything” 3) the method of value formation, and 4) the implications of using this film in character building and morality in children. This research is done by using a descriptive qualitative method with a literature-based approach. This research uses content analysis, which analyzes the content of dialogue, scene, and character according to the value of character education and morality of the main character. Based on the result of research, it can be concluded that this film contains 1) the values and character building, such as religious, honesty, tolerance, hard work, creativity, independently, curiosity, nationalism, loving the country, respect for achievement, friendly or communicative, peaceful love, fond of reading, caring society dan responsibility. 2) the moral value of the main character, which is dominant, is as honest, independent, and hard work. 3) the method of value formation through dialogue and very inspirational scenes through the main characters; and 4) the implications of using this film in character building and morality in children is to build self-confidence and self-actualization.</p><p><strong>Keywords: </strong>character education; film analysis; moral values</p>

Literature is a social phenomenon that is associated with writers, readers, and related aspects of human life that is expressed in a literary work. In this view, when someone attempts to analyze drama script to comprehend more about the drama, to conduct a discourse analysis on drama plays a significant role in the success of the analysis. Script or screenplay is one of literary work. There is 18 character education in Indonesia according to Panduan Pendidikan Karakter, Kemendikas 2010. They are: Religious, Honest, Disciplined, Hard Working, Creative, Independent, Democratic, Curious, Nationalistic, Patriotic, Sportive and respectful, Inclusive and Communicative, Peace-loving, Studios, Caring and Compassion, Empathetic, Responsible.  This study is aimed at two primary purposes: (1) to investigate the moral values in ‘Twilight’ film script, (2) to investigate the moral values to build someone's character. This study was carried out the script of Twilight film written by Melissa Rosenberg. To achieve two objectives, the data were analyzed by collecting and reviewing the document. After moral values have been collected, they are analyzed and categorized the moral values that could be implemented to build a student's character. The result of the research is that there are some moral values in Twilight film script that could be implemented to build student's character, they are (1) Honest, (2) Independent, (3) Curios, (4) Patriotic, (5) inclusive and Communicative, (6) peace-loving, (7) Empathetic and (8) Responsible. Those eight characters are a good character that could be implemented to build the students' character. Suggestion proposed based on the result analysis toward moral value in Twilight film script should be used as one of the references. In education, especially for teachers, it is imperative to build the students character

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap dan mengidentifikasikan nilai-nilai edukatif lagu-lagu Minang untuk membangun karakter peserta didik. Metode penelitian adalah penelitian konseptual (literatur review), teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi berperan serta, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan catatan lapangan, sedangkan teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis hermeneutik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lagu Minangkabau dan Kampuang nan Jauah di Mato memiliki 9 (sembilan) nilai-nilai edukatif, yaitu: (1) Ketuhanan (syarak atau agamo), (2) kecintaan terhadap ranah Minang, (3) persaudaraan dan gotong-royong, (4) kesatuan dan kebersamaan, (5) musyawarah dan mufakat, (6) adil dan damai, (7) keteguhan hati, (8) waspada, dan 9) disiplin. Nilai-nilai edukatif lagu-lagu Minang tersebut dijadikan sebagai pedoman dalam mengarahkan pikiran, tindakan, dan perilaku peserta didik, sehingga dapat diwujudkan peserta didik yang beradat, beradab, berkarakter. Kata kunci: nilai-nilai edukatif, adat Minangkabau, lagu Minang, pembangunan karakter Abstract This research aims to uncover and identify the educational values of Minang songs for student character building. The research method is a conceptual research (literature review), data collection techniques using participant observation, interviews, documentation, and field notes, while data analysis techniques using hermeneutic analysis. The results showed that Minangkabau and Kampuang nan Jauah di Mato songs has 9 (nine) educational values, namely: (1) belief (syarak or agamo), (2) love of the realm Minang, (3) fraternity and mutual assistance, (4) unity and togetherness, (5) deliberation and consensus, (6) fair and peaceful, (7) courage, (8) alert, and (9) discipline. Educational values of Minang songs are used as guidelines in directing thoughts, actions, and behavior of students, so it can be realized the students were well-mannered, cultured, and charactered.
