Under real conditions adolescents are influenced by a complex of environmental factors that determine the relevance of the search for quantitative indices of the health status under the action of environmental factors. The article shows that in conditions of complex influence of environmental factors in adolescents in the state of health, deviations are noted at the level of changes in physiological status characterized by disorganization of the functioning of the central nervous, cardiovascular and respiratory systems, the inter-systemic connections of which increase with the elevating dose of factors. On the basis of the mathematical analysis, an integral index of physiological status was determined - the index of physiological imbalance (IFD), which in adolescents subjected to a high anthropogenic load was by 1.7 times higher than in adolescents living in an area where the anthropogenic load was 1.4 times lower and correspondingly was 2.85 units and 1.60 units, which indicated to the tension of the processes of adaptation of the organism to a complex of environmental factors on the basis of the gradation scale of adaptation reactions developed by the authors, depending on the quantitative characteristics of the index of physiological imbalance.

The sikness rate of children living in the territories of the city with various levels of anthropogenic load is studied. The informativity of the multifactor dispersed analysis for determination of quantitative characteristics of the effect of environmental factors on the population sickness rate is noted. The effect of six inassociated factors (dust, sulphur dioxide etc.) on the sickness rate of children aged 4 to 7 is studied by this method.

AbstractSeveral research works in the related international literature on sociology and health sciences deal with the state of health in one selected population. In these studies, the chosen sample is often connected with special jobs, especially with healthcare professionals and their working conditions. These studies predominantly examine the self-rated subjective health status using questionnaires. There are others that assess the state of health based not only on self-rated subjective indicators, but also using objective data gained by measuring. Considering the international experiences, we chose a special population in our research – healthcare professionals working in an institute for chronically ill psychiatric patients. Our choice was influenced by the fact that we wanted to include their unique working conditions when exploring and assessing their health status. Moreover, our approach was to assess the objective state of health alongside the subjective factors, as our hypothesis was that the majority of the indicators presumably coincided. The data were collected with the help of three questionnaires and some indicators of the objective health statuses were measured. The findings were processed using the SPSS 17.0 mathematical-statistical software package. Following the descriptive statistics, we applied hierarchic cluster-analysis based on results of the WHOQOLD-BREF26 life-quality questionnaire, the WHO WBI-5 Well Being Index, and on the body composition analysis. The results show the objective and subjective health status of population and the factors that influenced it; the working conditions and the interpersonal contacts in the workplace. The conclusion was that in the examined population the subjective and objective health status doesn’t coincide.

Physical development (RF) is one of the main indicators of health status, largely due to hereditary factors, depends on the living conditions and upbringing, social and environmental factors [1,2,3,4]. This is especially important for children and adolescents in the process of growth and development. At the present stage of scientific research of RF in pediatrics, there is a transition from the analysis of average RF indicators to a personalized assessment [5,6].

. Environmental pollution affects population health depending on the extension and the degree of exposure to environmental factors. In most cases it is difficult to obtain an accurate situation of exposure of population to harmful factors. Health status is determined by: human biology, ecological factors, the socio-economic situation of each person, and the quality of medical services. In according to regional peculiarities the interdependence of those factors could vary, but not significantly. The environmental risks are everywhere but diminishing them may improve the health status of the population.

Abstract Background The latest statistics on household size in the EU show that in 2017 around one third of households in the EU comprised single adults without children. The study documents a direct relationship between individuals’ health and patterns of healthcare expenditure by isolating single-person households and creating a new reference group in which household healthcare expenditure is based on one person’s expenditure patterns in accordance with his or her own state of health. Methods The study matched two surveys using Propensity Score Matching based on single-person household, age, and gender. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) explores paths of relation between the population’s income and socioeconomic level and its health self-assessment and expenditure. Results Single-person households’ health expenditure increases with age and the differences in most expenditure categories are significant. The current study looks into the direct and indirect effects of income, gender, and SES on health insurance and other out-of-pocket health expenses among single-person households. A direct link exists between income, gender, and socioeconomic status (SES) and several aspects of health expenditure, depending on the specific age group. The indirect effects are attested via health status assessment, in which a negative correlation is found between self-assessed health status and various health-expenditure categories. Conclusions The last-mentioned result may support the general perception that single-person households who feel that they are doing better than their near-equals enjoy better health. This line of inquiry yields a better examination of how a single-person household’s state of health affects expenditure patterns without assuming ab initio that expenditure patterns attest to state of health. Key messages Healthcare system and policymakers have to be mindful of the profile of single-person households and should ensure to examine these households’ patterns of healthcare expenditure as a function of age. Policymakers should seek alternative sources of funding for the single-person households’ health-insurance outlays and should examine alternative ways of restraining their expenditure on dental care.

The skin, gills, and gut are the most extensively studied mucosal organs in fish. These mucosal structures provide the intimate interface between the internal and external milieus and serve as the indispensable first line of defense. They have highly diverse physiological functions. Their role in defense can be highlighted in three shared similarities: their microanatomical structures that serve as the physical barrier and hold the immune cells and the effector molecules; the mucus layer, also a physical barrier, contains an array of potent bioactive molecules; and the resident microbiota. Mucosal surfaces are responsive and plastic to the different changes in the aquatic environment. The direct interaction of the mucosa with the environment offers some important information on both the physiological status of the host and the conditions of the aquatic environment. Increasing attention has been directed to these features in the last year, particularly on how to improve the overall health of the fish through manipulation of mucosal functions and on how the changes in the mucosa, in response to varying environmental factors, can be harnessed to improve husbandry. In this short review, we highlight the current knowledge on how mucosal surfaces respond to various environmental factors relevant to aquaculture and how they may be exploited in fostering sustainable fish farming practices, especially in controlled aquaculture environments.

Rabbit is widely used as an experimental animal model in infectious and non-infectious diseases. The haematologic data can be helpful in evaluating the health status of animals over time. The aim of this study was to determine the levels of red blood cells (RBC), white blood cells (WBC) and differential leukocyte counts in 5 nulliparous and 5 multiparous females, i.e. in young and older animals, at mating and at delivery. The values of RBC did not change with age, but WBC and lymphocytes decreased with age, a -33% and a -60% less in multiparous females than nulliparous ones. Monocytes count was double at delivery than at mating. In conclusion, aging on the immune system is manifested as reduction in production of mature lymphocytes and as a result, older females would not respond to immune challenge as robustly as the young ones. Physiological status is only related to production of monocytes.

The future of the country is determined by health status of the younger generation. The child body reacts most quickly to all external factors, both positive and negative. According to the indicators of physical development and the health status of the child population, it is possible to judge the socio-hygienic and economic wellbeing, the state of the environment in the region. Indicators of the physical development of children and adolescents are a combination of morphological and functional properties of the organism, characterizing the process of their growth and maturation, endurance to any changes in environmental conditions, lifestyle. In childhood and adolescence, individual indicators of physical development are constantly changing, reflecting the influence of the totality of environmental factors, the nature of nutrition, lifestyle. Changes in morbidity rates are not linear, but there are periods of some decrease in the prevalence of functional disorders and chronic diseases and periods of their rapid increase. The work revealed patterns of changes in the physical development of children and adolescents aged 7 to 17 years, which have occurred during the 2008–2017 period. We have made a prognosis of the changes in the parameters on the further physical development of children and adolescents over the next 10 years.
