When compared to their peers, gifted children have more advanced skills in terms of intelligence, creativity, and leadership. Those gifted children need to be supported by special programs that will improve their skills. When the relevant literature is analyzed, it is seen that several symptoms of gifted children are also the symptoms of the children who have Attention Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity (ADHD). Thus, the possibility of occurrence of confusion between these two during the diagnosis is indicated. Still, there are some findings which show that a child who has ADHD can be a gifted child; and yet children having ADHD would not use their talents in an efficient way. For this reason, they need to be supported with special services. From this standpoint, the aim of this study is to determine the gifted students and revealing the relation between mentioned talents and ADHD. In connection with this, during the research on high school students, The Multiple Intelligences Developmental Assessment Scale is used for determination of the superior talents; and to determine whether the students have any symptoms of ADHD or not Wender Utah Rating Scale is used. The data collected from the analysis suggested that there is a connection between mathematical intelligence and ADHD symptoms. The current situation in the education system requires a revision of the content of work with such a non-standard category as gifted children. Many scientists are aware of the importance of gifted and talented children as the future scientific elite and the engine of the country's progress. Most studies identify a number of difficulties in the social development of the gifted, including the difficulties of communicating with peers and adults, the complexity of personal self-determination, and often the difficulty of professional self-determination. In this regard, the study of issues of professional selfdetermination is seen as an urgent problem that requires psychological and pedagogical consideration. As practice shows, most organizations of additional education have successful and interesting experience in working with gifted children, who later turn out to be prize-winners and winners of the olympic and competitive movement. In 2019– 2020 we conducted a study in which 156 students of senior school age took part. With the help of a questionnaire, we studied and identified the features of professional selfdetermination of gifted high school students in the conditions of additional education organizations in the city of Kostroma (Multi-subject school for the gifted) and St. Petersburg (Academy of talents). In addition, we have revealed some influence of the chosen programs of additional education on the professional choice of young people. The results of the study have shown that additional education plays an important role in the professional self-determination of gifted students, and there is a certain relationship between the profile of future professional activity and the choice of a particular association in organizing additional education.

Discipline in class is essential. Without it the educational processes and teachings are difficult. In this manner curricula goals are almost impossible to achieve. There are and there always will be some kind of conflicts between teachers and students, but they should not evolve to become a problem. Teachers (especially elderly teachers) often express pessimism of contemporary students. They say that today's students have less knowledge, they do misbehave more often than previous generations. A study among students was conducted. It was trying to determine the rate of discipline in schools in Celje to see if these statements are true. The questionnaire to students of one primary and one high school in Celje, Slovenia were distributed. The answers from 234 students were received. On the one hand, it was found out that senior high school students have the worst level of discipline of all the grades tested. They themselves assess their class atmosphere as less disciplined. They report that teachers use a lot of time to calm the class down. All this is probably a factor in lower average grade that the senior high school students have. On the other hand, it was found out that teachers do not react to the disturbance or they are trying to be repressive. These are not the correct ways of dealing with discipline issues. Therefore, there are some recommended ways how teachers should react. Keywords: discipline in class, primary school, contemporary student, elderly teachers.

Attitudinal competence is one the most fundamental concepts in social psychology. It is related to personal identity, moral, and ethics that gains popularity and becomes important in educational development. This research aims to develop an instrument to measure the spiritual attitude of high school students. The study was a research and development study consisting of four stages: (a) determining conceptual definition, (b) determining operational definition, (c) drawing indicators, and (d) constructing instrument. The quantitative data analysis was used to test the construct validity through Confirmatory Factor Analysis and the coefficient of construct reliability was used to estimate the instrument reliability. The results of the study show that: (1) the instrument to measure Moslems’ spiritual attitude is an inventory model of summated rating scale containing 35 items; (2) the construct validity was proven by the value of the standardized loading factor and considered as significant. The instrument reliability regarded as the construct reliability coefficient is 0.890 and the average variance extracted is 0.542; (3) the construct of the instrument produces a fit statistical evidence indicated by the Goodness of Fit Index = 0.91 (≥0.90), and Root Mean Square Error of Approximation = 0.032 (≤0.08). The results indicate that the construct of the measurement is suitable with the data. In addition, this research has confirmed that the spiritual attitude of high school students is constructed by seven aspects, namely resignation (tawakal), sincerity (ikhlas), thankfulness (syukur), patience (shabr), fear (khauf), hopefulness (raja’), and righteousness (takwa).

This study examined gifted students' perceptions and attitudes related to the “gifted” label and educational opportunities available to them. A questionnaire was administered to 305 students, ages 9–17, enrolled in a summer program for gifted children, Factor analysis of their responses yielded four factors: Acceptance of the Gifted Label, Perception of Ability as Incremental, Preference for Challenging Educational Opportunities, and Perceived Social Links to “Nongifted” Peers. A major finding was that gifted students hold a predominantly incremental view of their abilities. Results are discussed in terms of implications for students' academic and personal-social growth as well as a talent orientation for gifted education.

Although research on bullying has grown in scope in recent years, research specifically focused on gifted children’s experiences with bullying has been more limited. Studies of gifted children and bullying do exist, but the body of research in this specific area is not large. This article asserts that there are differences in the ways that gifted and nongifted middle school students communicate about bullying. This article examines quantitative differences in the ways middle school students who self-identify as gifted, and their peers who do not self-identify as gifted, disclose information about bullying. Data were collected from 343 middle school students at five different schools using the Olweus Bully/Victim Questionnaire. The study found that gifted students were more likely than general education students to disclose to their peers that they were being bullied but were not more likely than other children to communicate about bullying to their teachers or parents. These findings have important implications for schools and families as adults may underestimate bullying among the gifted. Additionally, these findings add to the literature supporting intervention programs that incorporate peer bystanders and add information to how we understand the importance of peers for gifted children.

IntroductionPremenstrual symptoms (PMS) are characterized by a set of behavioral, somatic, and affective symptoms of varying severity that occur during the 7–10 days before the onset of menstruation and subside after the beginning of the menstrual flow. Although the etiology of PMS is largely unknown, current evidence suggests that they may arise from a decrease in brain serotonin neurotransmission. Starch dietary regimen may increase brain serotonin.Materials and methodsIn this quasi-experimental study, we investigated associations between Starch dietary regimen and PMS in 14–19 years old high school students from October to January 2007 in Sari, the city in the North of Iran. 478 girls were selected for this trial. Participants were advised to consume a dietary regimen full of starch every 3 hours a day unless they were asleep. Symptoms were prospectively documented over 3 menstrual cycles with a daily rating scale that had 20 symptoms of PMS After 3 months data analysis was done.ResultsPMS score was 12.85 ± 8.01 prior to dietary regimen, and at the end of first, second and third month following dietary regimen were 11.03 ± 7.59, 12.47 ± 7.79 and 11.13 ± 6.71 respectively (p = 0000). Mood score was 15.8 ± 10.02 prior to dietary regimen, and at the end of first, second and third following dietary regimen were 12.61 ± 9.34, 13.06 ± 8.13 and 11.46 ± 7.09 respectively (p = 0000).ConclusionResults of this study revealed that carbohydrate-rich diet can improve PMS symptoms. Therefore, we recommended codified teaching programs via health care staffs to students about the beneficial effects of diet on relieving PMS.

Mathematics is taught in isolation from other subjects and often lacks creative or artistic flair; hence, students often get bored and do not pay attention in class. This study ascertained the effects of background music on students’ achievement, habits of mind, test anxiety, and disposition. The instrument used were the researcher-made mathematics achievement test, test anxiety rating scale, and disposition rating scale which underwent validation through a panel of experts. The result showed that the pretest mean scores in mathematics achievement of all the three groups were “low.” The pretest mean scores in habits of mind of the three groups were “not developed.” The pretest mean scores in test anxiety of groups A and B were both “moderate” while group c was “high.” The pretest mean scores in disposition to music of groups A and c were both “partially liked” while group B was “liked.” As observed, all the background music used had an impact on the improvement of the students’ scores in mathematics. The results of the study served as bases for the development of music-enhanced mathematics program. The aim of this study is to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool to measure the motivation of high school students to participate in physical activity. In the study, the relevant literature was searched and focus group interview was made with three different groups composed of 8 high school students, and an item pool with 55-item was created considering the opinions of experts. After the expert opinions were received, necessary corrections were made on the test form and applied to 308 high school students attending Ödemiş Anatolian High School and Ödemiş Ticaret Odası Anatolian High School in Ödemiş, İzmir in 2016-2017 academic year. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis, the form, which is formed by 16 items and 3 sub-dimensions, accounts for 54.69% of the total variance. In the result of the CFA, the values of fit indices were examined and it was seen that the 3 factorial structure of the scale consisting of 16 items was confirmed as a model. The scale was found to be reliable according to Cronbach's Alfa internal consistency tested to determine the reliability of the scale and the Spearman Brown two-tailed reliability coefficient values. As a result, it was concluded that the "Motivation Scale For Participation In Physical Activity (MSPPA)" is valid and reliable.Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file.
