Android-based learning media for Social Studies (SS) might reduce boredom and accelerate student learning because it conveys attractive, creative, and innovative learning materials that support independent learning. This study aims to develop android-based learning media for SS about the Kingdom and Relics of Hindu-Buddhist. It employed Research and Development (R&D) with Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation (ADDIE) model. Validation by material experts and linguists stated that the learning media was feasible with 61.5% and 70%. Results show that the learning media is suitable to use by 88.2%. The product trials resulted in practical products by 100% from educational practitioners, and 80.2% from students. This finding indicates that the media is effective, as can be seen, that 26 out of 32 students scored above the minimum grade. It is suggested that SS learning media are developed through further research by utilizing virtual reality technology. This may accelerate student understanding as the use of videos and pictures, and virtual reality to images and objects help depict things clearly.

Foundational ontologies provide the basic concepts upon which any domain-specific ontology is built. This chapter presents a new foundational ontology, UFO, and shows how it can be used as a guideline in business modeling and for evaluating business modeling methods. UFO is derived from a synthesis of two other foundational ontologies, GFO/GOL and OntoClean/DOLCE. While their main areas of application are natural sciences and linguistics/cognitive engineering, respectively, the main purpose of UFO is to provide a foundation for conceptual modeling, including business modeling.

This paper looks at some of the problems in information science from the experience with similar problems in psychology. The apparent need for a set of rigorous definitions of the basic concepts is discussed, and it is argued that although this is necessary for the natural sciences it is not necessary for sciences which concern themselves with behavioral phenomena which have a prior description in natural language. It is further argued that information science should be more interested in uncertainty than in information, and it is shown how the Anomalous State of Knowledge (ASK) paradigm may be used to describe itself, hence also information science. It is finally concluded that by turning to problems of uncertainty and lack of information, rather than information, information science may avoid many of the mistakes made by psychology.

Reel Bad Arabs movie indicated that the 9/11 attacks provided a basis for bipolarizing the Western and theMuslims worlds. As a result, a lot of misconceptions of the Muslim world presented in the media embodya rigid concept, comparing and contrasting Western and Islamic/Arabic values in which Western values arefavored after the 9/11 attack. Grounded in Reel Bad Arabs and several studies of print media about Islamrepresentations, this paper examined the concepts of Islamophobia focusing on stereotypes of Islam and Arabwomen as well as the relationship of modernity, capitalism, and Islam as they are perceived by the Muslimworld. Employing the agenda-setting theory and basic concepts of Islamophobia, this paper analyzed theselected texts in-depth qualitatively. Correspondingly, previous researches were used to expand the accountof the relationship between Islam and the Western media. The analysis claimed that selected print and visualmedia depict Islam unfavorably leading to a misconception of Islam in the Western world. In fact, stereotypesof Islam proved to be more salient as promoted by the Western media. However, the Muslim media attemptedto challenge this by producing several media products such as Kalam Nawaem to show a more “balanced”Islam. Keywords: Stereotypes, media, Muslim, Islamophobia, IslamDOI: 10.24198/jkk.vol2n2.5
