This study was aimed to examine the influence of drying temperature on phytochemical compounds and chemical characteristic of matoa (Pometia pinnata) peels. This study used a completely randomized design with the drying temperature treatments which was divided into P0 = freeze drying (control), P1 = 50Ë%C, P2 = 60Ë%C, and P3 = 70Ë%C, each treatment was dried for 48 hours. Variables observed were phytochemical compounds, water content, ashes content, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, IC50, malondialdehide/MDA and phenol. This study used analysis of variance followed by Duncan Multiple Range Test when the results showed significance dierence. It was calculated through Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 21.0. The results showed that the drying temperature influenced water content and IC 50. The phytochemical compounds of matoa peels were observed through qualitative screening included flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. The best results on the drying treatment of matoa peels was P1 (50Ë%C) which presented 9.47±0.14% water content, 3.74±0.07% ashes content, 4.89±0.03% crude protein, 0.46±0.04% crude fat, 34.42±2.16% crude fiber, 30.92±10.25 IC50, 12.85±1.49 mg/g MDA, and 0.85±0.23% phenol.

The aim of this research was to study the effects of supplementation different legumes on the physical quality of biscuit complete ration based on hymenacne acutigluma. This study was conducted in Animal Feed and Nutrition Laboratory of Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University. This study was done in 2 months. A completely randomized design with four treatments and four replicates was used in this study. Each treatments were P0= 70% kumpai grass + 30% concentrate + 0% legume, P1= 55% kumpai grass + 7.5% lamtoro leaves + 7.5% water mimmosa + 30% concentrate, P2= 55% kumpai grass + 7.5% acacia leaves + 30% concentrate, and P3= 55% kumpai grass + 5% lamtoro leaves + 5% acacia leaves + 5 % water mimmosa + 30% concentrate. Variables measured were water content, density, average collision endurance, specific gravity and water absorption. The result indicated that The adding of different legumes in the ration significantly (P<0.05) affected the specific gravity and water absorption, but no significant effect on density, average collision endurance. Duncan Multirange Range Test showed that treatment of control (P0) had the highest of water absorption (264.56%). The highest content of water gravity was obtained in the treatment of adding lamtoro, acacia and water mimmosa (P3), namely 0.9 g/ml water gravity. The conclusion of this study is the addition of different legumes in kumpai grass-based diets can improve the physical quality of the complete ration biscuit. The addition of lamtoro leaves, water mimosa and acacia at the level of 5%, gave the best result in specific gravity and water absorption.

This study was  aimed to analyze the fertilizer  dosage and harvest age in Ciherang rice varieties to increase the rice straw production and quality. This study used a block randomized design with 3 x 4  blocks divided based on harvest age H1 = 114 days, H2 = 118 days and H3 = 122 days.  The treatment was fertilizer dose level which consists of 4 levels, namely: P0 (control) = Urea 55 g+SP-36 5 g+KCl 6 g, P1= Urea 63,25 g+SP-36 5 g+KCl 6 g, P2= Urea 71,50 g+SP-36 5 g+KCl 6 g dan P3= Urea 79,75 g+SP-36 5 g+KCl 6 g. The variables observed were straw production, grain production, filled grain production, empty grain production, crude protein (CP), crude fiber (CF), Acid Detergent Fiber (ADF) and Neutral Detergent Fiber (NDF). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance  followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The results showed that P3 was significantly (p< 0.05) the highest  among fertilizer dose level treatments on the  straw production (27.63 tons  ha-1), filled grain production (5.52 tons ha-1), and reduced empty grain (0.15 tons  ha-1). The Quality of rice straw were CP 7.49%, CF 20.35%, ADF 55.03 %). While at harvest age, H1 was significantly (p< 0.05) the highest  among harvest ages treatments on the variables of straw production 28.18%, empty grain production 0.21 tons  ha-1) and NDF 69.11%. It can be concluded that the best fertilizer  dosage was an addition of urea by 45% with harvesting  age of 114 days. Key words:        fertilizer, harvest age, production, quality, rice straw

Abstrak. Pakan merupakan salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi produtivitas dan reproduktivitas ternak, disamping beberapa faktor lainnya seperti genetik, pengontrolan penyakit, dan manajemen pemeliharaan. Salah satu usaha yang dapat menunjang ketersediaan pakan ternak ruminansia adalah dengan memanfaatkan berbagai limbah pertanian berupa ampas sagu. Namun kandungan nutrisi yang terdapat pada ampas sagu sangat rendah dengan kandungan serat kasar yang cukup tinggi dan kandungan protein kasar masih rendah. .  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kualitas nutrisi dari Complete feed berbahan dasar ampas sagu yang difermentasi dengan menggunakan saus burger pakan (SBP) pada lama pemeraman yang berbeda. Rancangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan berupa lama pemeraman yaitu P0 (0 hari), P7 (7 hari), P14 (14 hari) dan P21 (21 hari). Setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 4 kali sehingga diperoleh 16 unit perlakuan. Peubah yang diamati dalam penelitian ini adalah kadar bahan kering, kadar protein kasar, kadar serat kasar, kadar abu, kadar lemak kasar dan kadar BETN.  Evaluation of Nutritive Values Complete Feed Based on Sago Residues with different Incubation TimeAbstract. Feed is one of the factors influencing productivity and reproductivity of animals besides other factors such as genetics, disease control, and management. One of the efforts to support the availability of ruminant feed is to utilize agriculture by products such as sago residues. However, nutritive values of sago residues was very low fiber with high level of crude fiber and low level of  crude protein. One of the efforts to improve the nutritional quality of sago residues is by fermentation. This study aimed to evaluate the nutritional quality of the fermented complete feed based on sago residues  with different incubation time. The design used in this study was completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments (incubation time) ; P0 (without incubation-control), P7 (7 days), P14 (14 days) and P21 (21 days) of incubation time. Each treatment was repeated four times with total of 16 treatment units. The parameters observed in this study were the contents of dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber, ash, fat and N-free extract.

Guided by HASNUDI and NURZAINAH GINTING. The aim of this research is to know the nutrient content of cassava tuber skin waste (Manihot utilisima) fermented with starbio bioactivator type and local microorganism (MOL) "ginta". This research was conducted at Nutrition Research Lab for Nutritional Research on Goat Cut Sei Putih, from July to August 2017. The design used in this study was a complete randomized design (RAL) patterned 3x3 pattern with 3 replications. Factor I is fermentation starbio, fermentation of local microorganism (ginta), fermentation starbio + local microorganism (MOL) "ginta". Factor II is the fermentation length of 6.10 and 14 days. The parameters studied were water content, crude protein, crude fiber, ash content, crude fat, BETN. The result of bioactivator type research gave a very significant (P <0,01) to water content, crude protein, crude fiber and BETN of fermented cassava peel. The duration of fermentation had a very significant effect (P <0.01) on crude protein and lower ash, coarse, and coarse fat. The conclusion of fermentation using starbio can increase the crude protein, BETN and lower crude fiber, and ash content

Comparison of fig leaves with stevia leaves and drying time were evaluated for their effect on the quality of fig leaf teabags. The study was designed using a factorial completely randomized design with 2 factors: the ratio of fig leaves to stevia leaves (D) and drying time (P). The results of the analysis showed that the ratio of fig leaves and stevia leaves had a very significant effect on the water content, total sugar, and total phenol and had no significant effect on the crude fiber content. Drying time has a very significant effect on water content, total phenol, and crude fiber content, and has no significant effect on total sugar. The interaction between the 2 factors gave a very significant effect on the total phenol. The best fig leaf tea formulation is 95% fig leaf: 5% stevia leaf and 120 minutes drying time with antioxidant activity content of 23.81 g/mL.

This study aimed to determine the effect of oven drying temperature on the antioxidant activity of cemcem leaf powder and get the rightest oven drying temperature to produce cemcem leaf powder which had the highest antioxidant activity. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design with a drying temperature treatment consisting of consisting of 4 levels including: 40oC, 50oC, 60oC and 70oC. The treatment was repeated 4 times to obtain 16 experimental units. The data obtained were analyzed using variance analysis, if it had a significant effect then it was continued with the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed the drying temperature had a very significant effect (p<0.01) on water content, total phenolic, total flavonoids and antioxidant activity. Drying temperature of 50oC is the best temperature to produce cemcem leaf powder with the highest antioxidant activity of 61.98% with IC50 79.58 ppm, total phenolic 48.03 mg GAE/g powder, total flavonoids 49.11 mg QE/g powder, water content 7.78%.

Stem and stump of bananas have potential to be used as an alternative for ruminant feed. However, one of the problem is its rapidly decomposing which affect high of water content. The alternative way to solve this matter by using silage. The aim of this study was to determine the nutritional quality of banana waste silage (stems and stump) with the addition of molasses with different levels. The experimental design was a Completely Randomized Design in factorial 3 × 3 with two replications. The first factor (A) was the composition of the substrate, A1: stump 100% + stem 0%, A2: stump 50% + stem 50%, and A3: stump 0% + stem 100%, while the second factor (B) was the levels of molasses (0; 2.5; and 5%). The parameters measured were dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber, extract ether, ash and BETN. The results showed that the composition of the substrate has significant effect (P<0.05) increased content of dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber, BETN, but did not significant (P>0.05) on extract ether and ash content. There was an interaction (P<0.05) between the substrate composition and the addition of molasses on the content of the ash. The best composition for increasing the nutrient content was stump 100% + stemps 0%. It is conclude that the compostion of stump and stemps may affect the nutrient quality of silage.

ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui proses fermentasi yang tepat digunakan untuk meningkatkan kualitas protein kasar dan serat kasar pada biji kecipir dan menentukan level terbaik penambahan jamur Trichoderma viride yang mampu meningkatkan kualitas protein kasar dan serat kasar pada biji kecipir sehingga mampu meningkatkan kualitas dan tingkat kecernaan. Produk yang akan dihasilkan pada penelitian ini adalah alaternatif pakan fermentasi biji kecipir (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus) untuk peternak unggas. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan empat perlakuan yaitu P0 = biji kecipir dengan 10% tepung jagung tanpa fermentasi; P1 = Biji kecipir dengan 10% tepung jagung + 0,1% jamur Trichoderma viride (Tv); P2 = biji kecipir dengan 10% tepung jagung + 0,2% Tv; dan P3 = biji kecipir dengan 10% tepung jagung + 0,3% Tv. Materi yang digunakan adalah biji kecipir yang dihaluskan digunakan sebagai substrat dan dihomogenkan dengan cara diaduk. Masing-masing sampel perlakukan ditimbang sebanyak 100 g, kemudian dimasukkan ke dalam kantong plastik dengan ketebalan 2 cm  dan dilubangi agar tercipta suasana aerob. Selanjutnya diinkubasikan dalam ruang fermentor pada suhu 30oC selama 7 hari. Masing-masing perlakuan diulang sebanyak 3 kali. Peubah yang diamati pH, suhu, protein kasar dan serat kasar. Berdasarkan penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa terjadi perubahan suhu, penurunan pH, serta kenaikan pada protein kasar dan penurunan serat kasar.Kata kunci: biji kecipir, Trichoderma viride, pH, suhu, protein, serat kasar ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to determine the proper fermentation process used to improve the quality of crude protein and crude fiber in winged beans and the best level of addition of Trichoderma viride fungus which could improve the quality of crude protein and crude fiber in winged beans to improve feed quality and digestibility. The result product of this study is an alternative fermented winged bean (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus) feed for poultry farmers. This study utilized completely randomized design with four treatments. P0 = Unfermented winged beans with cornstarch, P1 = winged beans with 10% cornstarch + 0,1% Trichoderma viride fungus (Tv), P2 = winged beans with 10% cornstarch + 0,2% Tv, P3 = winged beans with 10% cornstarch + 0,3% Tv. The material used were powdered winged beans as substrate then homogenized by stirring. Each sample was weighed 100 g, then put into a plastic bag with a 2 cm thickness and perforated to create an aerobic atmosphere. Subsequently, the sample was incubated in a fermenter room at 30oC for 7 days. Each treatment was repeated 3 times. Variables observed for pH, temperature, crude protein, and crude fiber. The result of this study concluded that there were change in temperature, decrease in pH, increase in crude protein, and decrease in crude fiber.Keywords: winged beans, Trichoderma viride, pH, temperature, protein, crude fiber

An experiment with aim to study the effect of probiotics combination level and length of fermentation on qualityimprovement of rice straw had been conducted at the Laboratory of Nutrition and Feed of Animal HusbandryFaculty, Mataram University. The research was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design in factorialarrangement 3 x 3 with 3 replications. The first factor was the level of probiotics (0, 2 and 4%), the second factorwas the period of fermentation (2, 4 and 6 weeks).The variables measured were crude protein, crude fiber, NDF,ADF, cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, and in vitro digestibility of dry matter and organic matter. Data wereanalyzed by analysis of variance and tested further by Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The result show thattreatments combination of the probiotics level and fermentation period did not affect (P>0.05) the chemicalcomposition and digestibility. The level of probiotics increased (P<0.05) the crude protein and in vitro dry matterdigestibility. Meanwhile, the lenght of fermentation increased the crude protein and in vitro digestibility of drymatter and organic matter, but decreased the crude fiber, NDF, ADF, cellulose, and hemicellulose of Amofer ricestraw.

The purpose of this research was to determine the used of molases as an additive in making banana jackfruit peel silage on crude fiber and crude protein. This research was conducted in Sirnaraja, Mandalasari village, Cikalongwetan district, West Bandung regency for 21 days, while the sample test carried out Balai Pengujian Mutu dan Keamanan Pakan/Bahan Pakan (BPMKP/BP) at the Cikole-Lembang. The method used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with four treatments (P0 : banana jackfruit peel silage with 0% molases), (P1 : banana jackfruit peel silage with 1% molases), (P2 : banana jackfruit peel silage with 3% molases), (P3 : banana jackfruit peel silage with 5% molases) and five replication. The data obtained were analyzed by ANOVA and Duncan’s multiple range test. The result show that the used of molases as an additive was significantly (P<0,05) of crude fiber and crude protein with average 8,79-31,61% and 8,79-9,55%. The used of 3% molases is the most optimal of the decrease crude fiber and increase crude protein.
