We consider the problem of language and concept in the framework of cognitive linguistics. The purpose of the work is to identify the mental differences in the conceptualization of the concept BEAR in the linguistic consciousness of the Russian and Chinese people. We present an approach according to which dictionary definitions are considered as a language representative of a concept called a dictionary word. The dictionary is considered as a collection of our knowledge about the world, which was formed as a result of its conceptualization and categorization. We compare different aspects of the lexeme BEAR in the “Dictionary of the Russian Language” (MAS) edited by A.P. Evgenyeva and the “Xinhua Zidian” edited by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences: interpretation of the word, its illustrative materials, including phraseological units. In the study of a foreign language, reliance on dictionary definitions allows us to use lexicographic representation of concepts as one of the active and initial methods for understanding and perceiving national mentality.

The article is devoted to the analysis of parametric adjectives of the evaluation of the human figure in the Russian language through the prism of the Chinese language. The author reveals the ethnospecific features of Russian parametric adjectives, the presence of which causes certain difficulties for native speakers of the Chinese language picture of the world. The comparative analysis of these lexical units in the two languages reveals the national-cultural features of the perception of the human image and the features of the fragments of the national linguistic picture of the world in intercultural communication.

The dictionary-textbook being analyzed has no analogues in the literature for teaching Russian to foreigners. It is based on zoomorphic images of wild animals in Russian language consciousness. The original approach realized by the authors in presenting the linguistic material, tasks and exercises was considered from the point of view of methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language.

The article proves that formation of professional competence with the help of the Russian language is a daunting challenge which the professors of Russian as a foreign language often face. Professional competence is a complex construct including communicative competence. The matter is that the PR specialists’ professional activity presupposes a wide range of business communications strategies, as well as different types of communication and leverage.

This article carries out a semantic and pragmatic description of the Russian word снег “snow,” considering its synonymic and word-formation relations, establishing a family of words, and defining the semantic oppositions in which the word “snow” and its separate word usages appear. The author pays particular attention to the pragmatic connotations of this word, placing them against a background of the different foreign language connotations of appropriating words. The article further investigates the group of the words designating the weather phenomena that typically accompany snowfall: метель “a snowstorm,” вьюга “a snowstorm, a blizzard,” буран “a severe snowstorm,” and пурга “a snowstorm, a blizzard,” defining their semantic range and features of how they function in speech. On the basis of an analysis of the facts provided in dictionaries and poetic discourses, the author comes to a conclusion about the existence of a separate semantic group of words with this meaning that proves the special importance of this weather phenomenon for Russians. The analysis also provides a way to determine that, unlike in other languages, the concept of “snow” in the Russian picture of the world is considered as an active figure: the word combination снег идет “it is snowing” is associated with positive concepts about happiness, the novelty of life, satisfaction with Russian aesthetic concepts about beauty, etc. The author proves that words and concepts united by the component “snow” possess a certain romantic nuance in which, it may be claimed, the unique character of Russian culture consists.

The article gives the concept of linguoculturological competence. It is emphasized that the full participation of foreign students in intercultural communication is possible only if they master a certain linguoculturological base. The emphasis is made on the need to form linguoculturological competence in teaching foreigners all aspects of the Russian language and types of speech activity. Based on the experience of the author of the article on teaching Russian pronunciation to foreign students from different countries of the world, examples of materials for phonetic exercises that have high linguoculturological potential are given, some methodological recommendations for their use in teaching Russian as a foreign language are offered.

The article aims at investigating the specifics of the modern practice of training foreign authors of Russian as a foreign language (RFL) textbooks and identifying the prospects for the formation of a professional thesaurus of this group on the basis of modern educational technologies. This issue is really relevant, since, as it is shown in the article, there are currently almost no methodological studies and manuals addressed to this group of trainees. At the same time, practice shows that foreign colleagues are in urgent need of diverse methodological support from Russian methodologists. The paper shows that in 1970-1980-s, when such support was purposefully implemented, modern textbooks on RFL were created in foreign countries, which contributed to the Russian language spreading in Europe, Asia and Africa. The research materials were textbooks on the Russian language for foreigners, which marked a certain stage in teaching methods of RFL development. The authors of the article rely on general scientific theoretical research methods: comparative analysis of available sources of information, comparative analysis of the conceptual system of the topic under research, synthesis of their own points of view (or positions), based on the analysis of various ways of solving the problem. The article resulted in the proposed topic of training and consulting materials for potential foreign authors of RFL textbooks, which are supposed to be based on the developed electronic platform, as well as the introduction of materials of the round table Designing a communicative textbook of RFL into the system of professional training and advanced training. The authors concluded that potential foreign authors of RFL textbooks are currently in urgent need of systematic scientific and methodological support. In this regard, it is recommended to intensify work with this contingent, using the potential of domestic methodological research, both classic and modern.

The results of a study of the functioning peculiarities of modified foreign anthroponyms in the Russian-language Internet discourse is presented in the article. The main methods of word formation, the structure and semantics of foreign occasional anthroponyms in the Russian-language Internet discourse are considered. The relevance and novelty of the study is due to the choice of linguistic material, which were foreign-language anthroponyms in Russian, in particular, modified names of members of the British royal family. It is shown that these occasional nominations embody the emotional and evaluative attitude of Russian-speaking Internet users to members of the royal family. The results of a structural and comparative analysis of modified foreign anthroponyms used by Russian-speaking Internet users are presented. An attempt is made to show how the derivational means of the Russian language can reflect the subjective connotation of occasional derivatives. The main word-formation models in the field of occasional anthroponymy of the Russian language are revealed. It is concluded that the most productive way of modifying foreign anthroponyms in the Russian-language Internet discourse is suffixation. The semantics of the identified word-formation models is analyzed, their emotional-expressive function in the language is studied. The results of a statistical analysis of the use of the main methods of creating modified foreign anthroponyms in the Russian-language Internet discourse are presented.

Recognizing the undoubted merits of the modern methodology of teaching the Russian language and the undoubted methodologists’ successes achieved in recent decades, we cannot but realize the need not only not to be satisfied with what has been achieved, but, on the contrary, to do everything in our power to search for answers that correspond to the changes taking place in the country and the world. In everything that concerns the Russian language, it was the time that turned out to be surprising in its social energetics as the exponent of a huge set of problems requiring urgent solution. Just as uncontrolled drifting ice floes converge and collide with each other, so at the end of the 20th and at the beginning of the 21st centuries, different layers of issues related to the development of the Russian language, its connections with other languages, interpersonal, interethnic, interethnic and interstate relations collided. Finally, the attitude towards it on the part of the younger generations that have already entered and continue to enter life, including those formed by the academic subject «Russian language». In the article, the author reflects on the meaning of the Russian language, speaks about the methods of teaching it, which are built as methods of teaching a foreign language, and shows that with this approach the language loses its flexibility and liveliness and is filled with formulas and clichés.

This paper is devoted to the problem of learning Russian by native speakers of the Polish language. The presented research is made in the context of the language-oriented approach and includes linguistic experiment, comparative analysis of Russian and Polish languages and identification of problem areas causing interference errors. A system of rules and exercises for Polish learners of Russian is being proposed as a recommended practice for excluding interference errors. The language-oriented approach used in this report is based, first, on provisions that take into account the already existing initial language system of learners, second, on a comparative analysis of languages, and third, on an analysis of learners’ mistakes. Mastering a foreign language takes place in close interaction with language systems in the minds of students. In the situation of interaction between two contacting languages, interference is likely to occur. Identification of interference errors in the analysis of speech of foreign languages allows us to identify problem areas in the studied language and correct the language skill in the course of learning. Typical mistakes are material for creating the necessary strategy of teaching the Russian language for native speakers of a certain language. The aim of this article is to explicate information about Soviet everyday life through a comparative analysis of the content of the dictionary definitions of the names of one piece of clothing in different explanatory dictionaries of the Russian language of the Soviet period. To achieve the aim, the following research methods were used: the lexicographic analysis of dictionary definitions of clothes names in explanatory dictionaries, the comparative analysis of the qualitative and quantitative content of dictionary definitions of names of one item of clothing in different explanatory dictionaries, and the interpretation of the results of the comparative analysis of dictionary definitions of clothing names. The material of the research was the explanatory dictionaries of the Russian language published in the Soviet period of Russian history: The Explanatory Dictionary of the Russian Language edited by D.N. Ushakov, The Dictionary of Modern Russian Standard Language in 17 Volumes, The Dictionary of the Russian Language in 4 Volumes, S.I. Ozhegov’s Dictionary of the Russian Language. 479 nominal lexemes, naming 160 items of clothing, were selected from theses dictionaries. Dictionary definitions of the names of one item of clothing from different dictionaries were compared by such typological features of clothing as “scope of use”, “subject wearing the item (by gender)”, “features of clothing style”. In the course of the comparative analysis, attention was paid to the qualitative and substantive content of the dictionary definitions of clothing names and the number of meaningful elements in their composition. As a result of the analysis, the authors have been identified dictionary definitions of clothing names whose content does not change in different dictionaries and dictionary definitions whose content transforms in terms of quality or quantity of its elements. The interpretation of the results of the comparative analysis of clothes vocabulary definitions allows reconstructing ideas about stable phenomena and dynamic processes in the zones of Soviet everyday life that are more closely related to the sphere of clothing. There are two such zones: (1) the style and way of life of Soviet people and (2) social interactions in Soviet society. The structuring of the information about Soviet everyday life, extracted from dictionary definitions, indicates the existence of a connection between the sphere of Soviet everyday life as a micro-level of human life with the macro-level –the life of the Soviet state. The lexicographic description of clothing items is a source of information not only about the costume as an element of national material culture, the traditions of wearing clothing, fashion trends in clothing, but also about the processes that are not directly related to the world of clothing, occurring in the social sphere, indicating the way of life and types of people’s activities, aesthetic and moral stereotypes, the emergence of new needs.
