Higher education waqf fund is the best alternatives to the higher education institutions (HEIs) development and management. Funding through the waqf fund can reduce the dependency of HEIs on government allocation. This study aimed to examine the influence of image on the intention of waqf to HEIs. The sample consisted of 381 Muslim respondents aged 18 and over, in the district of Muallim where the HEIs were located in Perak, are selected using systematic random sampling. Data were analyzed using two statistical analysis methods, descriptive and inferential. Descriptive statistics consist of analysis of frequency, percent, mean and standard deviation using Statistical Packages for Social Science (SPSS) software. Inference statistics were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) software. The findings of direct relationship analysis showed that the image (β = 0.397, p <0.001) had a significant influence on the intention of waqf to HEIs. Thus, enhancing the image of the HEIs can influence the increase in the intention of waqf to HEIs. The study found that an excellent image of HEIs can attract the public’s attention to contribute waqf to the HEIs.

AbstractIn bioethics vaccine refusal is often discussed as an instance of free riding on the herd immunity of an infectious disease. However, the social science of vaccine refusal suggests that the reasoning behind refusal to vaccinate more often stems from previous negative experiences in healthcare practice as well as deeply felt distrust of healthcare institutions. Moreover, vaccine refusal often acts like an exit mechanism. Whilst free riding is often met with sanctions, exit, according to Albert Hirschman’s theory of exit and voice is most efficiently met by addressing concerns and increasing the quality and number of feedback channels. If the legitimate grievances responsible for vaccine refusal are not heard or addressed by healthcare policy, further polarization of attitudes to vaccines is likely to ensue. Thus, there is a need in the bioethics of vaccine refusal to understand the diverse ethical questions of this inflammable issue in addition to those of individual responsibility to vaccinate.

Much of the research involving perceived characteristics of so-called “gamers” has been directed at deconstructing traditional stereotypes associated with the term. As gaming has become mainstream, research has investigated the changing nature of the term “gamer” as well as the factors which influence the perceptions of gamers. This study extends the literature by examining modern perceptions of “gamer” among a set of college-age adults. The study explores factors which impact self-identification as a “gamer” and uses content analysis to explore perceived characteristics of gamers. The results confirm that previously found factors influencing self-identification (frequency of play, gaming in the social network) still correlate with the “gamer” identity. The results also show that while traditional stereotypes still persist, the perceived meaning of the term “gamer” may be evolving. These results provide a foundation for future examinations of the gamer identity and provide insight into the evolution of the traditional gamer stereotype.

Purpose: This study aims to identify factors influencing the stigma communication concerning HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)/AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) patients between health and medical college students. Methods: In this descriptive study, the participants were 158 college students from a certain university. Data were collected from September 18 to September 30, 2018. Self-reported questionnaires were used to measure AIDS-related knowledge, homosexual awareness, fear of HIV/AIDS patients and stigma communication. The collected data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, one way analysis of variance, Pearson’s correlation and a stepwise multiple regression analysis using the SPSS 23.0 program. Results: The factors influencing the stigma communication between health and medical college students were a fear of HIV/AIDS patients (β=.47, p<.001) and homosexual awareness (β=-.15, p=.040), which together explained 28.0% of the variance in the model. Conclusion: The study findings suggest that an education program for health and medical college students should be developed. Additionally, when designing the education program, it is recommended that the contents for inducing attitude changes should include affective areas as well as knowledge-oriented contents. The study suggests that it is necessary to provide a systematic education program to decrease the stigma for HIV/AIDS patients before health care providers enter clinical practice.

Abstract After more than six decades of systematic study of creativity, there is still no agreement regarding components essential to define creativity. Prior studies of implicit and explicit theories have suggested adding criteria to the standard definition of what creativity is; however, an alternative approach is to explore what creativity is not. The current investigation aimed to study both perspectives. The social validation method was employed in Study 1 (an open-ended questionnaire) to identify laypeople’s notions of creativity using content analysis of participant responses (n = 92). Results from Study 1 were used to build a quantitative questionnaire employed in Study 2 (n = 306). Descriptive statistics and Spearman Rank Correlations were used to analyze participant ratings in Study 2, showing consistent agreement that creativity is highly related to and overlapped with Imagination, Artistic Expression, Innovation, Originality, and Invention, while Knowledge, Ability, Unconventional Behavior, Morality, and Insanity were less related to and overlapped with creativity. Both implicit and explicit theories agreed on Originality and Innovation and disagreed on Artistic Expression, Imagination, and Invention. Usefulness received low ratings, although it is considered in all creativity definitions. Morality was not rated to be closely associated with creativity. Detailed findings are discussed with suggestions for future studies.
